Most people aren’t all that intimately aware of the true dangers of Hoenn: of how this region may one day be capable of destroying the multiverse itself. But, of course, most people had not received warnings from deities, nor had they seen what had been shown to those who were taken to cyberspace.

Locke is aware, though, and so is Mars himself.

”That’s why it’s a good thing that Dialga and Palkia are back in the region. Now that they’re free from anyone’s influence, my hope is that they’ll work on restoring things to what they should be.”

Even Mars himself has ventured into other dimensions multiple times, willingly or not, and will he really stop now that he’s aware that said travels may be the very thing that destroys the multiverse?

For now, he simply looks at his surroundings, watching as a curious Piloswine approaches his Persian. Dollar is cautious and alert, but he does not attack without a command; the large feline simply sniffs the fluffy pokémon, as if attempting to determine if he’s fond of it or not. Finally, Dollar purrs heavily in acceptance, rubbing his side against the ever so soft Piloswine. Typical cat.

Locke reached again for his Pokéballs, careful to avoid the shivering Klefki inside. Now that he had a better idea of the kinds of Pokémon in this area, he summoned both his Talonflame and his Riolu. Not a pair he usually brought out together, but hopefully they'd be enough to cover the rest of the journey without any more surprises.

In this weird rendition of A Christmas Carol of theirs (in which Mars is obviously a much better Scrooge, Locke, Hideo Kino, and Eris Halla are all collectively Tiny Tim, and the Lake Guardians are the ghosts), he is not the only one receiving strange and ominous visits.

Locke had been visited by Uxie in the Lilycove museum, and apparently it had delivered yet another prophecy…

”The fourth...” Mars muses out loud as he reads the notes taken by the courier, holding the notebook as if it were as invaluable and delicate as the old history book that still lies stained by Locke’s own blood after last year’s events.

”What did you think it meant at the time?” He asks before voicing his own speculations, and as he does so, his gaze wanders towards a nearby tree. There are claw marks on it, and on one of its branches, a Perrserker sits. Mars whistles a short note, and one Meowth evolution greets the other with a kiss.

Dollar decides to fight the other feline, which clearly had been readying an attack, and the banker doesn’t stop the Persian when it does as much. He simply waits for Locke’s response, paying little mind to the short battle. The victor is obvious.

The fact that Locke would call him an expert gets a soft laugh out of Mars, because truly he does wish he could agree with the courier and call himself that. But, he can’t. ”Ha. There’s a lot I don’t yet know either, though.”

Dragons, Psychics, and Sources definitely sounds like three legendary trios.”

The mention of dragons seems to summon something that looks like one, but an Arctozolt is far from an enjoyable sight. Galarian fossils always look as if their mere existence means suffering. It almost makes Mars want to put it out of its misery…

Locke is, of course, right, and the mention of Rayquaza brings reminders even to Mars himself. He had seen it from the heights of Mount Pyre while they were all preoccupied with attempting to free Palkia from the control of the DRK TRIAD and he had read reports of its intervention with the meteor. But, had it really been a matter of luck?

”Do you really think it was dumb luck? I’d say we made it through the Meteno crisis due to everyone’s efforts. For example… had Dialga or Palkia not been freed, do you think we would have still made it, even with Rayquaza’s intervention?”

His own answer to that question is obvious, so his attention turns to Dollar who appears to care little for their discussion – instead being more preoccupied with watching a Sneasel that climbs a nearby tree. After quickly checking his Pokémon storage app, Mars whistles for the Persian to attack. He doesn’t have a Sneasel yet, you see.

Unfortunate for him, without a doubt, but despite the fact that Mars himself had taken an active part in planning such assaults, he finds himself glad that Locke had made it out okay. He has always thought of harming civilians as foolish and needless.

”I was at home.” The lie comes smooth; easy. He’s too used to these things, and this one in particular is a lie he has been telling too often lately. There’s a Snorunt waddling around in the distance, and for a short moment, Mars stares at it. ”Got a nice view of the desert primal point’s activation from my balcony. Those really were something.”

He turns to look at Locke then, and when he does, he gestures for Dollar to go deal with the Snorunt. The Persian moves swiftly through the snow, as if he’s actually enjoying the change of environment.
