At Josh's question of his heritage Amor just smiled at the Gym Leader.

"I am something." Was the only response he gave, and the leader was right Amor wouldn't have thought he possessed something faster than Extreme Speed. Which is why when he watched the leader hop into the saddle on his Luxray he was perplexed at first. Then he saw the gathering of energy, and in an instant he felt the force of the blow as a shockwave blew his well tailored suit open. His Dragonite had been blown backwards by the intense force, and for a second Amor stood there in shock.

He had no idea that such a move existed, but even though he grit his teeth at the leaders boast, Draco stood back up. Heavily damaged from the move, but he was still standing. This was nothing worse than he had done before. The Groudon's Precipice blades he had endured during that fight had hurt more. Draco spit to the side, and then with all the rage that a dragon could possess he forced his body to move again. Then his wings began to beat into the air around him, and he picked up speed once more. Covering that blistering distance once again.

Draco would not lose, victory was the only option before him. To bring his trainers dream even an inch closer, nothing would get in their way. And so with no regard he once more used Extreme Speed To crash into the Manectric, and make sure that it was taken down for the count.

"You might be the master of faster, but when it comes to persevering we won't lose. This after all is a marathon not a race." Amor said, for the first time refuting the Gym Leaders claims, perhaps he was getting more heated than he realized. Draco, and he had been through far to many scrapes, and near death experiences to lose to a single Z-Move. No they would defeat this leader because their bond was unbreakable, and it showed. The absolute faith he had in his Pokemon wasn't ordinary. "Now Draco! Put him down for the count!" He roared in unison with his dragon!

Josh's worst fear materialized; Draco, being to Amor what Saber was to Josh, shared a special bond that allowed the dragon-type to withstand the electric ramming attack that was too fast for humans to follow. The duo roaring together, the Dragonite badly injured from the wicked surge of lightning on top of the closing speed the two rammed into each other at, was the only sign Josh needed to see that the challenger's bond with the bipedal dragon was special. Rather than command Saber to fight back when he didn't have the speed advantage, Josh respectfully withdrew the electric-type that braced for impact.

There was something about hearing a Dragonite's wings vibrate when using EXTREME SPEED that made Josh smile. Down to his last Pokémon, Josh hopped off the Luxray that he had used for his Z-Pose, the electric feline pouncing toward Draco in a QUICK ATTACK. He wasn't sure what the extent of the well of stamina the Dragonite possessed, but it was the best opportunity the Leader had to make the final round of their battle as close as possible. He was not going to allow himself to be embarrassed by a trainer that could outplay him at his own game!

Draco was on his last legs, but he didn't want to go down. He had done his job though, the Leader had specified that they had used their trump card, and he managed to defeat it. It was that singular action that would bring his trainer victory. Draco had allowed his trainer to win because he knew what the last Pokemon, Amor had was. While Draco might have been the more powerful of the two, his counterpart was definitely the faster one. So when the Quick Attack slammed into him he gracefully fell down. Sure Amor could have kept him in by allowing him to Roost, but Draco had done more than enough. He deserved a break, and so in a flash of red the Dragonite was returned.

"You did well my friend..." He said looking softly at the pokeball of his beloved partner. "Draco is definitely one of my trump cards. He is unwavering you see, almost to a fault, if I allowed him, he would pick a fight with any Pokemon, and defeat them just to make himself stronger." That is what Draco was....A seeker of real power. "But he isn't my only trump card. Dragons come in all shapes, and sizes." He said with a smile as a released his final Pokemon, and in a blinding white light, on the battlefield across from the Luxray stood a Sceptile.

"You see my Sceptile is special....After years of training he learned how to Unburden himself. I think you will find him more than a match for your Pokemon." Amor stated as he brandished the ring on his ring finger. It began to glow as a strange stone that was around Vilu's wrist glowed in tandem, and the pokemon began to change form, as it Mega Evolved. "Now Vilu use Leaf Blade!" With it's speed doubled in it's Mega Form, Vilu was currently the fastest thing on the field, and it attempted to blitz the Luxray, Samurai style as the glowing blades on it's arms extended in order to deal massive damage to it.

Attempting to finish the battle in a singular blow as the Gym Leader had done with them previously. Amor had an answer for each tactic that was used against him, and it was for this, that all the Gym Leaders, and soon the Elite Four would come to recognize him.

Amor's Sceptile put Josh behind the eight ball. Being a Grass-type made the electric specialist unable to use his Luxray's most potent attacks. Blitz did know ICE FANG as a measure to handle Ground-type Pokémon, but he simply could not catch up to the overly nimble Grass-type. He would have to let his foe come to him, and its LEAF BLADE was going to sting. It was going to sting more after Amor's MEGA RING glowed with the light of MEGA EVOLUTION.

And yet, that was just the window of opportunity Josh was waiting for.

In the vast majority of cases, the light of MEGA EVOLUTION would secure the user's victory. In this exact circumstance, though, Josh perceived it as the reason for his victory and the challenger's defeat. It would be a difficult lesson for the challenger to learn.

The LEAF BLADE's long, cutting edge sliced into Blitz's right side, the impact threatening to crush the electric cat under his own weight. Eyes wide open a sign of the immense blow, Blitz was badly hurt but not quite out yet. The bond Josh shared with the Electric-type was the only thing giving him the courage to win this one for Josh. And it was a shot he was going to take while he had the chance. No verbal command was needed; Blitz knew exactly what he needed to do: take advantage of his close-quarters position with the Sceptile and sink mist-laden ICE FANGs into it.

And therein laid the trap within the trap. Josh was correct, Ice Fang would deal the most severe damage to the supposedly vulnerable Mega Sceptile. However with him using that, he wasn't using those quick, and fast moves that he was previously, and so with speed outpacing his opponent, Vilu jumped into the air dodging the Luxray, and then once again the blades on it's arms extended. The Luxray had bitten the air leaving a misty foam, but Vilu wasn't going to let that advantage just go. Right now it was the fastest thing on the field, and it was going to prove it. So it drove it's body downwards towards the Luxray as fast as it could go, and attempted once more to end this fight with one more Leaf Blade.

Amor never once underestimated his opponent as much as Josh Devlin might have thought so. Amor felt like he was the one being underestimated honestly, and that brought a smile to his lips.

Though he said nothing to his opponent yet, there was still a chance that the Luxray would be left standing in which case they would have switch their plan up, but with it's current condition, Amor hoped that wasn't the case.

In a split second, Amor's Sceptile had vanished, faster than even Josh could follow. He was stunned when the very next thing he saw was the Mega Evolved dragon on top of Blitz, the LEAF BLADE's critical hit across the electric-type's head and neck area shattering the protective Aura of the Gym's safety system. Had the attack been any stronger, Blitz would have been seriously injured and put on the DL just like Aslan was.

The match was over.

The two Trainer's Box platforms receding into the ground, the crowd gave Amor a standing ovation as Josh withdrew his Luxray. Both trainers had shown significant prowess; the Leader showed how much he had learned in being to handle his own weaknesses. And yet, Amor had shown the Leader just how much he had to learn. Elinor Anderson had shown Josh how to overcome excessively tough foes like Amor's Hisuian Goodra. Callan Young had shown Josh how to counteract the twisted dimensions of a TRICK ROOM. And yet, Amor had shown how inadequately the League's third suggestion had been addressed. While it would be difficult to find such a trainer, Amor's Mega Sceptile put Josh in a situation where he did not have the speed advantage.

If the young Leader could not handle a Mega Sceptile's speed, then he had no hope of trying to follow Raikou's.

Mauville's Master of Faster walked toward the center of the battle court, Quick Badge in his right, clenched fist. "Amor, the score of our match is not indicative of its outcome. You had me completely crushed, on the pole position from wire to wire," Josh admitted. "I felt helpless the entire time. For every countermeasure I had prepared for your dragons, you fought that countermeasure. Your ability to next-level foes will see you well in the Pokémon League."

With a loud cheer from the gallery, Josh turned his fist upside down and opened it in front of Amor, revealing his Gym Badge in the palm of his hand. "The official Hoenn League Quick Badge. You deserve it. Your name shall be entered into Mauville Gym's list of Qualified Riders, a permanent display of your prowess today. Wear it with pride."

As the crowd began to disperse, one more thought came to Josh's mind. "And Amor? Crush MATIAS SILPH and kyle lopez for me."

And then the dust settled, the last one standing was Vilu, and just as quickly as it had come the mega energy receded, and it returned to it's previous state as a normal Sceptile. The crowd was cheering, and Amor felt a little blush rise to his cheeks. Honestly he hadn't realized he had been holding his breath until the cheering started, and he saw Josh Devlin walking towards the center of the field. So he walked out to meet him, and he listened to the the leaders words. Amor very rarely got praise like this, and it showed as he refocused, and maintained his composure. Though his usual charming smile was not present, and in it's place was a beaming one, one of a man who had fought hard against an admittedly difficult opponent even if the leader himself didn't see it that way.

So when he was given the badge he marveled at it, like it was an artifact from a bygone era. The adrenaline, the rush, the excitement of an actual battle where he didn't have to hold back. It was fun, and for the first time, Amor realized he had, had fun. How long had it been? It didn't really matter, but he knew it was there, in this.

"You know that is a tall order, but I can't very well let you down after everything you just said to me, now can I?" Once more that bright beaming smile on his lips. "I'll make sure to crush them when I come against them, along with the rest as well. Hopefully the next time we battle, I'll be a full fledged champion. So don't keep me waiting for to long!" He said with an easy laugh, and he was to excited to wait for more words, and he rushed off.

"I'll see you again!" He yelled back. And there he went, a man in his late twenties, who had more money than most could count. Who owned his own company, and was invested in several others. Who was usually so stoic, calm, collected almost like a sheet of metal. That same man, was rushing out like a kid, excited to show his friends what he had gotten. And just for a moment, perhaps for a split second, there was an image of a little Amor, smiling, and jumping with the adult one as well.
