It was the dead of night. By all accounts, BARNABY FINCH should have been asleep. And he had been, for a time. Curled up in bed with Martín del Mar at his Sootopolis home, warm and safe and content. He would have stayed that way, too, if a strange sound hadn't teased him awake.

It wasn't a jolting sound. It hadn't caused him to shoot up in bed in a panic. It was faint, somewhat far-off... but still loud enough to scratch at Barnaby's subconscious and cause him to begrudgingly open his eyes.

"Hm...?" He shifted around, pressing his fingers against Mars' bare chest for better leverage, until he was facing the large master bedroom window.

From this vantage point he saw flashes of rainbow-colored lights falling to the private beach below Martín del Mar's property. What could that be...?

Still groggy, Barnaby pressed his back into the crook of Mars' body, where they met in the classic small spoon/big spoon position.

"Martín, look..." He muttered, a limp hand pointing to the strange lights outside the window.

Sleep comes easier on nights like these; when he’s not alone with his thoughts and memories. Those terrible dreams that steal his slumber away don’t visit him as often as they once did, but on this one particular night, it’s something else that robs Mars of his somnolent peace. He has never been a heavy sleeper, and between strange distant sounds and Barnaby’s movement, it’s soon that golden eyes are greeted with the darkness of his own bedroom.

Except that on this night it’s not really dark at all.

Colourful lights passingly illuminate the room, and when he turns to get a better look at them, it’s over Barnaby’s dark locks that he does so. With an arm wrapped around his lover’s waist, Mars gently kisses the nape of his neck, whispering against its fair skin.

And rather sad.

He knows what it is when he sees it. He has seen it a few times before.

Pokémon like Cleffa, Elgyem, and Staryu are said to come from other space, but when it comes to Minior, their origin is a known truth… just like what happens to them if not captured soon after their fall.
