Curiosity brings Angelo to the base of Mt Pyre with the intention to scale it. To scout where rumours surrounding unexplored rifts and the clash of fresh, factional feuds originated, overflowing down its jagged cliff face.

So very close to home.

He'd have begun the climb as soon as he arrives on the shoreline, had a familiar face not barred his way.

What had been but a tiny speck fishing in the distance, transforms into a recognisable name as he gets closer.

“Adrian.” Angelo holds a hand up in a wave. Pausing but not yet approaching. “Hey stranger. Been a while.”

He remembers their last excursion together, back when he'd been tracking down a lost hiker. Adrian can only imagine what they've been up to since then; he manages a faint smile and waves back, wondering what they've heard...[break][break]

"Hey." As he picks the rod back up, he gives it another sharp tug before a BINACLE waves back at them with a rogueish glare that Adrian rebukes with a pokeball, unleashing his Trevenant, Willow. It's a short bout that leaves Binacle hard-pressed to offer much resistance when he tosses a pokeball towards it.[break][break]

Hands slip into the pockets of his jacket as he watches Adrian reel in his latest catch, the pilot joined by a small Dreepy that snakes out of interior warmth.

It only pays attention until a Togekiss feather drifts by, snagged on the wind. Inky's big eyes ensnared.

“Nice catch,” he whistles. “Don't usually see people fishing here.”

Especially not lately, what with the battle that still clung fresh in the air.

“Didn't stumble on your secret spot, did I?”

It's a thread that Angelo doesn't push when Adrian explains his reasoning for being in Mt Pyre's shadow. Howitzer.

There's a tickle of recognition in the back of his mind over the name, from back when he'd bumped into Rowan Wrynn at the Splashfest's main stage bar.

There's a grave inkling there.

“Not today.” Comes a practiced smile. “Heard some rumours about what happened here recently. Thought I'd come check it out, see if I need to update any topography recordings.”

Not entirely untrue.

Inky drifts towards the water to meet a curious Mantyke, peeking from the surface. It takes but a thunderwave and a agile toss of a pokeball...

Adrian looks to Angelo for answers when a COMBEE wanders over towards them to see what all the buzz is about. Seeing as he's left his line go 'til the Gyarados passed through, he's quick to grab his fishing net and swing it over the Combee, placing it down and stepping on the handle to keep it there for a moment.[break][break]

Eventually he'd force it into a pokeball.[break]

“There's apparently a rift up there. So I've overheard from local gossip say, who heard it on the news.”

It wasn't the only rumour he'd heard. There'd been a clash up in the mountain peaks, also. Rocket bringing a fight to the League at such a pivotal moment but more importantly, so close to home, brought him pause...

“Half expecting to get up there and find a twenty foot barricade but,” Angelo smiles, shrugging. “Gotta check it out.”

Angelo rolls a pokeball between his fingers, snug within the confines of his jacket pocket. Considering the toss when his meandering gaze catches sight of a small, unfamiliar bird with large bug eyes perched on a nearby rock.

There's little to contemplate in the end, pitching the capsule in a claiming throw. He wants it.

Adrian grabs a hold of his line once more, now that the Gyarados had long since moved on, and the line was tugging lazily. What could it be? After fighting with it for a time, he can see a WHISCASH through the waterline. He relies on his Vileplume, Rover, to take it down swiftly and with ease before confining it with a pokeball. Mine.[break][break]

Watching it and the other trainer gives him a restless itch, the dawdling pace reminding Angelo of his intentions on being here - and that he wasn't doing it.

“My wishful hope would be.. no security.”

He smiles a mischievous sort of grin.

“What about you, been up to the top? Or just here for the fish?”
