If only she hadn’t been right.

There was a certain sense of disappointment in being proven right. The world did come for Eris. This time in the form of Callan Young disturbing their peaceful hug.

Elinor noticed the change in Eris immediately. The way she pulls away from the hug, the way her body tenses. She prayed Callan Young would be quick to pick up on this and adjust accordingly. Otherwise this might be about to develop in a bad direction.

“Green tea? How lovely!” Elinor gave Callan a small smile, using this opportunity to fade into the background. She was certain Callan had questions to ask. And for now, she would let him.

Elinor faded into the background as she listened to the interaction between Callan and Eris.

Her gaze lingering mostly on Eris. She figured the young girl would feel pressured by the Elite Four’s presence, she only had to figure out how much.

Elinor noticed how the Pokémon’s tail slipped around her arm. But before doing so completely, Elinor saw a glimpse of something strange. Something which clearly wasn’t a scar nor was it anything she had seen before.

Elinor had to ask.

“Sorry to interrupt, but what is that on your arm?”

“I understand.” Elinor spoke. She didn’t want to push, yet she knew she had to in some way as it seemed Callan wasn’t intent on actually doing anything. Because it sure seemed like he had arrived here with no purpose.

That voice keeps whispering in her head, scratching that fear in over and over until she grows weary of even trying to heal that scar. Elinor gave the young girl an understanding nod.

She had already figured the girl wouldn’t tell her anything, but perhaps she would’ve let something slip without realizing it.

She did not.

Realizing how much time had passed and how hard it would be on the young girl, she figured now was as good a time as any to offer her some respite.

“We won’t press you further then.” She gave Callan a look and then a quick nod toward the door. “Besides, I believe we’ve imposed ourselves upon you for far too long now.”

“If you need anything or want to chat, let us know.” And with that she would lead Callan and herself out, leaving Eris to rest.
