Usually, when Mars meets up with Summer Atreides it's for private matters; as friends instead of as Team Rocket underboss and executive. However, recently dear Summer had made the mistake of wanting to train more, and to Mars that means all forms of training.

Hiking up Mount Chimney had been bad enough, so what awaits Summer when Mars calls her to Team Rocket's training falicities?

Well... a banker that casually smiles and a witch who also does as much.

The Hatterene that stands before Mars at their end of the arena wickedly smirks beneath the brim of her fluffy hat, watching Summer and snickering quietly as if having something terribly evil planned. Mars pays her no mind.

The honest truth of the matter was, Summer was really beginning to regret asking Mars to help her train in various ways possible.[break][break]

She'd thought that, since they were friends, he'd go easy on her. Or, perhaps, they'd ease into it. But, of course, he was an admin of Rocket. There was no way in hell he'd do that, regardless of their relationship.[break][break]

So, when Summer met his gaze and his equally terrifying HATTERENE'S, she felt an involuntary shiver run down her spine as her HISUIAN ZOROARK stepped in front of her.[break][break]

"If you say so. Hela, NASTY PLOT." Of course she was going to go for the defensive.

Weak only to dark type, if he remembers correctly. The issue, though? That can easily be changed, although Mars decides not to do so just yet. First he must deal with the issue that is the pokémon's speed.

He clicks his tongue once and something in the ROOM shifts, doubtlessly the result of the Hatterene's TRICKS. The Zoroark would find itself moving much slower than before, and the Hatterene at almost blinding speed, the priority of their movement having shifted.

Before it knows it, the witch strikes with a cruel and BRUTAL SWING.

Summer heard the clicking of his tongue, and there was a sudden shift in the room. It was like the speed in their Pokemon switched, and the next thing she noticed, her Pokemon was being flung back with a resounding punch. It was enough to make her wince as Hela let out a whine.[break][break]

"The hell..."[break][break]

There was only a moment's pause before Hela was back on her feet, shaking off the punch. Summer swiped her hand down, and her Pokemon responded with an AGILITY before charging with a NIGHT DAZE, trying to catch Mars's Pokemon off guard.

Watching the Zoroark attempt to increase its agility, the Hatterene snickers with wicked mischief, clearly enjoying herself with this fight. As Summer and her pokémon would find, increase in speed only seems to make Hela even slower. Since this is training, Mars decides to explain:

"TRICK ROOM is a psychic move. It makes it so whoever is slowest moves fastest, turning your pokémon's speed into a disadvantage." As long as the TRICK ROOM is up, that is. Still, it doesn't prevent the Hatterene from still being hit by moves, as the NIGHT DAZE soon proves. That one does get her to stop snickering creepily.

"Hmm... That could lower her accuracy... Interesting." Mars' smile does not fade, and with a simple gesture, he taps on the elegant tie pin he wears. There, a KEYSTONE shines, syncing with the MEGA STONE the Hatterene wears as a charm at the end of her hat. "Stat changes are removed when MEGA EVOLVING, and all parameters increase."

Summer, clearly, did not know that about TRICK ROOM. But, then again, her specialty didn't lie with psychic-types. She could tell you about fire-types and dark-types, and she was beginning to work on her specialty in ghosts, but the HATTERENE was a mystery to her.[break][break]

So, as Mars explained it to her, it made more sense. And she cursed, Hela growing slower as the opposing Pokemon stood to its MEGA EVOLUTION prowess.[break][break]

"Even if I lose, I'm still going to whoop your ass until you've knocked me out of the battle completely," Summer said feistly, placing her hands on her hips with a look. "I don't go down easily."[break][break]

No, she kicked and screamed.[break][break]

"Give it all you've got left, Hela!"[break][break]

So, with whatever energy she had left, Hela sent a SHADOW BALL in the direction of the MEGA HATTERENE. It was likely the last resort, but at least Summer could go down with style.

"Good. It's important never to lose your fighting spirit." She'll need it, living in a place like Hoenn. She'll need it, being part of Team Rocket. Of course, knowing when to strategically retreat and that retreat doesn't mean defeat is also important, but perhaps that's a lesson for another time.

The Hatterene uses her tendrils to protect her actual body from the attack, smacking away the SHADOW BALL. It hurts, but it's not as bad as it could have been, and it buys her enough time to prepare her next attack.

Mars whistles a short and sharp note, calling her to action with a non-verbal command.

What comes next is a cosmic downpour. A flurry of merciless blows that strike the Zoroark. G-MAX SMITE, a move Hatterene can only use when MEGA EVOLVED.

Hela was down for the count, and Summer knew as much after shielding her eyes from the flurry of blows from above. Once it was over, she grabbed her Poke ball and opened it, summoning Hela back inside to rest.[break][break]

Stashing her ball for her Pokemon to heal, Summer approached her friend and placed her hands on her hips, raising her brow.[break][break]

"I have a hunch you're about to give me a lecture."

"Going on the offensive can often be successful, but you won't always have the best odds. You had a good idea with setting up that NASTY PLOT, and using status moves like those is a great way to shift the odds in your favour... Like I did with TRICK ROOM."
