It was a little funny to see Jayden get momentarily bullied by the other woman. Marza couldn't help herself, she liked a mean bitch. So, internally, she'd give Lex a level up in respect, definitely for the sheer goddamned audacity. It would have been a curious fight and she wished she brought popcorn, but they had far bigger things to deal with. Most notably, a massive murderous golurk of shadow steel and stinking of blood and lost souls.

Icy wind lashes across the environment as Jayden's gengar strikes out at the bloody behemoth. The battle mounts in a culmination of excessive energy and lashing winds that nearly threatens to throw them back through the goddamn portal that took them there. "Fern." She twists around to look at the other, recalling that he was the one to stockpile shiny weird things like the weasel he is.

Her jaw clenches, shoulders growing tight. Her amber eyes bare into Jayden’s violets with equal defiance. He may be her superior, but her tolerance for disrespect only extended so far. Physically grabbing her was already over that line. The warning was verbally acknowledged, so the next time there would be no hesitation to retaliate.

Their hidden position doesn’t remain hidden for long. The dead crimson eyes as large and dinner plates stare across the sepia world onto them. Her heart drops into her stomach. There’s not much that Lex fears but this ominous Golurk was not to be taken lightly.

Jayden’s Gengar reacts quickly, mega evolving to make it a more fair fight. From the shadows the Gardevoir lunges to hover beside the Gengar. She mixes a DAZZLING GLEAM into the darkness to combat the Golurk’s NIGHTSHADE.

“We’ll hold it off, get the SPELL TAG working,” Lex thrusts and arm forward, sending her Gardevoir to meet the fellow abomination head on with PHANTOM FORCE.

Tension continues to mount between Jayden and Lex, but Fern continues to linger toward the back with Marza. Sidhe returns to his side, tugging at his pant leg to alert him of the approaching trouble they’ve stumbled upon. He’d forgotten, in the moment, that he’d sent the little sableye out to scout. “Bit late to the party, Sidhe.” He pats the top of the little gremlin’s head anyway, before his eyes fixate on the massive golurk again.[break][break]

For a moment, he’s lost—staring out at the bloodthirsty creature as it impales whatever soul it can grab on its spike. A flash of light reveals jayden cross ’s pale white gengar—Vritra surging forward to hold off the phantom. But Fern pays her no mind. He doesn’t pay anything mind. Every trip he takes here, things seem to go wrong. Nothing feels right. It’s all so foreboding. Ominous in a way that provokes a sense of deja vu that they detest.[break][break]

Fern.[break][break]

It’s Marza Volchitsa ’s voice that snaps him out of it— cleanse tag. “Right! Uh, right.” He pats himself down and pulls the tag from an inner jacket pocket before frowning at it. “It didn’t exactly come with instructions, but it should ward off attention, right?” he asks his companion, shrugging a little. Not the time to be uncertain. “Sidhe. Go.” He holds the tag down to the little PRANKSTER, who snatches it greedily in her hands and darts forward.[break][break]

As jayden cross and Alexandra Briarwood , send attacks toward the massive golurk, it continues to thunder toward their group. At a distance, Fern can see the cleanse tag begin to glow with energy in his sableye’s hold as she waves it with a shrill cackle—flitting and dodging around the larger Pokémon’s attacks. As if she were sage-ing a cursed building to ward away evil spirits rather than a gargantuan cursed Pokémon.[break][break]

Curving in a wide arc around the golurk, Sidhe avoids the marchers, then loops around to them again having successfully circled the area that the creature might hopefully grow disinterested in.

in the midst of mounting tensions, jayden's unwavering belief in his fellow rockets served as an anchor. he knew that, regardless of any personal conflicts, they would put their differences aside to focus on the task at hand.

[break][break] his beliefs were only affirmed when he witnissed Alexandra Briarwood's gardevoir unleash a dazzling display of power with it's DAZZLING GLEAM, which bright tendrils of light complimented jayden's own gengar's nightshade.

[break][break] jayden catches lex's eye admist the chaos, giving a subtle nod. with a sharp whistle, followed by two more, jayden directed his shiny gengar to take action. vritra's SHADOW TAG manifested, casting an eerie light over the snowy landscape. the supernatural ability ensnared the opposing gargantuan golurk, chains of light tangling around it's legs, as Alexandra Briarwood's gardevoir cut swiftly through with a powerful PHANTOM FORCE.

[break][break] violet eyes catch fern delaney's in the blistering winterscape.

[break][break] now.

[break][break] their sableeye is quick on it's feet, dancing around the various marchers and towards the golurk. as it dances across the snowy surface, luminous energy begins to emanate from the cleanse tag. it spreads like a delicate mist, weaving through the air with a sense of purpose as a pentagon lights on the floor beneath their feet, its glowing lines pulsating with ethereal power.

[break][break] with a sudden surge of light, the dark energies shrouding the goliath and his minions are dragged out in shadowy tendrils that unravel in the presence of light. the transformation is instantaneous — the minute the light is pulled from their forms, their enemies fall like puppeteers onto freshly fallen snow.

[break][break] when it is all over, jayden's breath appears in puffs of cold air.

[break][break] "i think... it worked."

[break][break] his footsteps crunch upon the snow, gazing at the pile of corpses that were already beginning to dissolve into pink mist.

That had to be the dumbest question Fern had asked her yet. "How the hell should I know? Just do something." He was the supposed ghost expert, knower of weird useless shit. It seemed that at least Jayden and Lex had gotten over their spat, even if it had been amusing for the time. It wasn't exactly the time for hair pulling.

The massive creature was dispelled and they were left with the eerie wake of silence that followed. Goosebumps continued to burn along her arms and tension left her hair on end. This was still entirely too far from the end for her liking. "Whose idea was this again?" She looked pointedly at Fern, imagining that she could have been in a place with massive rock-types or something, fighting titans in a dune somewhere. This was kind of bullshit.

By some miracle, the SPELL TAG seemed to work. If it didn’t, there was going to be hell to pay for whoever lied to them about that. Luckily for all involved, that would be unnecessary.

The Shadow gardevoir crawled back to her side through the dark mist of PHANTOM FORCE. Her lifeless eyes sought further instruction. With the threat gone, Lex dismissed the ghost with a wave of her hand. That was probably enough for one visit.

“I don’t know but let’s not do it again,” she suggested after Marza’s astute question. Unfortunately, they were probably going to do it again because they were all idiots and suckers for punishment.

Fern exhaled a slow breath as the tag seemed to take effect. As the rest of the chaos was dispelled by the efforts of the gengar and shadow gardevoir, he could feel an unspoken knot of tension ease in his chest.[break][break]

Marza’s sharp gaze cut to Fern’s and his own shifted away, his arms folding. “Don’t look at me.” The flit of his glance moves to jayden cross instead. Coupled with their independent visit, and the tensions that linger, their desire to be here now is minimal.[break][break]

Brusquely, they fix their attention on the returning sableye. “Wonderful job, Sidhe.” The gremlin holds up the now defunct tag to him, only to snatch it away again at the last second with a little cackle. Whatever, the tiny poltergeist can squirrel it away with the other slew of treasures he knows she’s been hoarding in some corner of his house. A treasure for her success.
