It'd been a while since she said his name like this, in close quarters, face to face. It came with a certain chill to it.

She could only imagine the fallout Matias must've endured. Breaking up with Cian was torturous, sure, but nothing compared to the raw pain of losing ollie morales when she did. Four whole years thrown away in a matter of seconds. The thought admittedly still burned her heart.

Out of everything she'd experienced that week, the harshest has definitely been quiet that now befell her apartment every night. She had almost forgotten how lonely it felt to crawl back home to an empty bed.

It was a gross oversimplification. But, with everything that's happened, it felt like the best way to frame it all.

Decisions were made, and now they were forced to lay with their consequences.

For a sliver of a second, sadness leaks through the twinkle of her eye. Whether her feelings toward Cian were still akinned to the love they once shared was irrelevant. She was still hurting, in her own distant way.

"Well." A harsh cough cleared her throat. Despite the small twist in her expression, she knew better than to dig further. One false step and they'd be sent tumbling toward mutual destruction again.

Her eyes lifted back up to meet his.
