Josh was in his SYGNA SUIT, astride Saber, Raikiri next to him. The Zeraora was excited, bouncing up and down with far too much pent-up energy. "According to Head Scientist illeana reyes ," Josh began to answer, "there have been reports of a corner of the Ultra Deep Sea that manifests the wildest dreams of those who enter it. We've been tasked with reporting what we find. And I get the feeling it won't be easy." Nothing anywhere in Hoenn, or the realms liked to Hoenn, was ever easy.

The young man and his Manectric had done a great service to the League for all his work in the rifts. Today, he would be investigating what was essentially a rift within a rift: the Interdream Zone. Represented by a bright bubble of light with Ultra Deep Sea that moved throughout the alien wilds, beyond was supposedly a world shapen to the desires and dreams of those who enter. "alec foster , I'm going in." With that, the brave electric-types and rider breached the Interdream Zone.

Beyond was an ancient, almost prehistoric wasteland devoid of any sign of civilization. Every footstep the electric-types made kicked up a small dust cloud that lingered for quite a while. As he was bounding across the wastes, a Salamence cry prompted Josh to point to the bright, hazy skies above. "Look at all those Salamence! There are so many!"

As Josh would soon find out, those weren't Salamence.

"Illeana sure has become quite the scientist," Alec said smiling softly. He remembered the words she spoke to him when they talked with one another. He admitted that he wasn't too sure how she would react to him wanting revenge against Team Rocket, however, he also didn't expect her to sympathize with the notion either. She thought she'd tell him that 'revenge wasn't the answer' or something like that. Alec could see that she had been through her own kind of hell while he was gone. A part of him also felt bad, knowing that he couldn't be there for her when she needed someone.

As soon as they entered the Interdream Zone, Alec was surprised by the sudden drastic change in habitat. "This definitely doesn't look like Ultra Deep Sea ..." Alec couldn't help but say, despite it being obvious. The sharp cries of what sounded like Salamence in the sky above them forced Alec to look up, squinted as he attempted to get a better look. As one swooped down at enormous speed, Alec's face swiftly changed, seeing some ... differences. "Josh ... I don't think these are Salamence," Alec said, pulling a pokeball off of his belt, calling out a Gardevoir. The prehistoric-looking dragon that was flying down towards them at great speeds, attempting to attack Josh while still on top of Saber, producing a FLAMETHROWER.

Athena the Gardevoir however intervened, using her PSYCHIC powers, keeping the flames at bay, trying to force them back. Alec then brought out Veta from her pokeball, quickly firing an ICE BEAM at the Paradox pokemon.

Alec was right. Those weren't Salamence.

Like the world around them, these Salamence were much larger. Much faster. Much more savage. Worse yet, they weren't solitary attackers. While Athena's PSYCHIC saved Josh and Saber from one, another was diving toward him from his right. He kept his eye on the dragon's pace, ready to QUICK ATTACK out of the way when the time was right.

It was not to be.

With a bellow from the largest Roaring Moon, it became a SUNNY DAY. The prehistoric, merciless sun baked the wasteland below, activating the PROTOSYNTHESIS of every single one of the Roaring Moon above them. It made them both faster and stronger. It was only the Gym Leader's BOLDNESS he shared with his Manectric that kept the two of them on their feet, reinforcing their DEFENSES. Even with the protection of his SYGNA SUIT, the blow from the DRAGON CLAW stung. "Saber, counterattack with DISCHARGE!" While several of the dragons were caught in the wide-radius blast, they all shrugged off the attack. Some of them even laughed at the duo before shooting skyward to give chase to Veta and Alec. "Why doesn't electricity work on them? They're Flying-types, right?"

"Apparently, not these ones," Alec says. Despite the DISCHARGE from Josh's Manetric, Athena had managed to avoid getting hurt by it due to her TELEPATHY, which allowed her to proceed with a new attack of her own. She unleashed a SPRINGTIDE STORM on the hoard of prehistoric dragons, causing a massive storm, swinging them all in the air violently. Well, it figures that Fairy-type attacks are effective against them," Alec thought to himself.

However, despite the new struggle set before these paradox pokemon, one of them managed to break into the storm, gunning for Athena, attacking her with a NIGHT SLASH sending her flying; knocking her out. "Dammit. These things just hit harder," Alec said, as he returned his Gardevoir back to her Pokeball, however, this had given him an idea. "Veta, attack 'em with EXTREMESPEED!" Alec said, while also grabbing his TERA ORB with his free hand, activating it in order to Terastallize Veta into a normal type. With her tera-type awakening, she burst into supersonic speed, attacking some of the paradox pokemon. None of them were able to keep up with how fast Veta was moving, and due to her swiftly and constant strikes, The hoard seemed to be focused on her, rather than attacking Alec himself.

While Athena's SPRINGTIDE STORM took out the first wave, there was another wave of the dragons coming. There had to be a dozen more of them soaring the skies. Furthermore, the edges of the Interdream Zone wavered with the flight patterns of the many Roaring Moon, forcing the duo to move with them or risk being ejected from the hot, prehistoric environment.

Alec's Dragonite gave Josh an idea. He withdrew his Manectric and switched rides to his Dragonair, Resheph. While his SYGNA SUIT could no longer empower his mount, its defensive properties would still be intact, protecting him from the Pokémon resembling a Mega-Evolved Salamence. Once he was in the saddle, he raised his TERA ORB above his head, the serpentine Pokémon glowing with a similar, diamond-like sheen and TERASTALLIZING into the NORMAL-TYPE.

"Resheph, EXTREME SPEED!" Josh commanded. At least unlike during the Silph Cup race, he knew what he was in for this time. It didn't make withstanding the speed any easier, though it did make it easier for the Dragonair to start cleaving through the horde of Roaring Moon with her horn. While an individual dragon couldn't catch them, the horde filled the skies with so much SCALE SHOT that even barely subsonic speed wouldn't let her dodge them all. The scales pelted them both, some getting stuck between Resheph's scales and slowing her down a lot from the drag they created.

Alec continued to watch on from the ground below as the battle between his and Josh Devlin's Pokemon battled the prehistoric dragons. Despite the newly-acquired advantage that his Dragonite as well as Josh's Dragonair had, it seemed that the Roaring Moon was able to counter their speed, firing a multitude of SCALE SHOTS at them. Alec's Dragonite, not wanting Josh's Pokemon to succumb to the barrage fired at them, used EXTREMESPEED to zip in front of Resheph to protect from the brunt of the onslaught. Once the attacks hit their target, Veta fell to the ground, too weak to continue fighting. Her terastallized body returned to normal. Alec, sweating from seeing the sheer power these prehistoric dragons held, returned Veta to her Pokeball.

If it weren't for her MULTISCALES, the Dragonite would have more than likely died, taking on all of those hits at once. However, Alec knew that Veta did it in order to protect Josh and his Dragonair, not wanting them to get seriously injured. Alec grabbed yet another Pokeball, now bringing out his strongest Pokemon. Josh had never seen his Shiny Charizard in action before, let alone its mega evolution. In truth, Alec didn't want to use his Mega Evolution so soon, however, it wasn't like he was left with many choices. Two of his Pokemon now were knocked out, so he had to try and do something that would turn the tide and his Charizard's Mega Evolution was the best way for them to get out of this alive.

Alec activated the keystone embedded in the center of his MEGA GlOVE he wore on his right hand, the energy gushing out of it violently; washing over Inferno. Its skin was changing from black to a teal-ish color, while flames from its mouth gently flowed from its sides. With a defiant roar, it took flight, unleashing a devastating DYNAMIC PUNCH to one of the ancient dragons, knocking it out cold with a single hit. Despite the one being knocked out cold, there were still several others that Alec and Josh had to deal with. What's more, was that these paradox Pokemon reminded Alec of the Naganadel that he and his pokemon fought on one of his expeditions. If he and his Pokemon were to fight such a frighteningly powerful foe, then they had no choice but to go all out. "Inferno! Hit them hard!" Alec commanded, as his mega-evolved Charizard continued its own onslaught.

Alec was paying attention to what was happening on Josh's end, seeing that his Dragonair had fainted. As he and his Aerodactyl descended down for Josh to recall her, one of the Roaring Moon was gunning for them, and fast. Inferno, not needing to be told what to do, Swiftly dashed toward the Roaring Moon, slamming its tail on the prehistoric dragon hard, making smash into the ground away from Josh, knocking yet another one out. Once Inferno had seen that Josh and his Pokemon were safe, the mega-evolved Charizard turned toward the injured Roaring Moon that was hit by the dragonair's HYPER BEAM, unleashing a powerful BLAST BURN, engulfing them in a sea of flame in the sky.

The sheer power behind the attack, made the prehistoric Pokemon drop like flies smoke billowing from their bodies as they fell to the ground hard. As Inferno descended back down, landing near Alec, its Mega Evolution Dissipated. Some of the Roaring Moon that were grievously injured fled while the ones that were unconscious remained where they were. Alec quickly tossed a Pokeball at one of the unconscious paradox Pokemon, waiting to see if the Pokemon were able to be captured. After Alec returned his Charizard to his pokeball he walked towards Josh. "Are you guys okay? If so, I'd catch one of those things and get out of here before more of them decide to attack us." Alec said. He probably didn't have to say that, Josh was very much aware, but it wouldn't hurt to advise it.

The combination of HYPER BEAM and BLAST BURN dropped what remained of the final wave. Another wave was coming, though, and it would only be a matter of time before they were surrounded. "Thanks for the save, Alec! We've gotta get out of here, though! Whatever these things are, they're really dangerous!" When he saw that these Salamence look-alikes were indeed Pokémon, Josh hurled a Poké Ball of his own at one of the other Roaring Moon. He wanted to catch one that fit his frame well, as he had every intention to ride it, but could not be terribly picky.

Josh settled on catching one that was slightly smaller than average before recalling his Dragonair and swooping back to the edge of the prehistoric wasteland. The two hurtled toward the light and touched it, finding themselves out of the Interdream Zone and back in the safer-by-comparison, but still dangerous, Ultra Deep Sea.
