At times, she did revert back to her old way. The darkness gave her an edge, a certain confidence that purred her forward through the most volatile parts of the ruined city. The quaint seaside village had turned into a ghost town – quite literally.

The ghosts of those already lost haunted the streets around every turn. Blood, bodies, darkness. The grim reaper was quite busy today on both side of this faction war.

And all for what? A piece of a world that was as equally as violent towards both sides. Ultra Deep Sea didn’t see Rocket or League, it lashed out at anyone who dared step into its realm.

Crimson wings flashed against the dark sky, forcing the thief to skid to a halt in the middle of the alleyway. It seems she’s been caught.

Pity.

Unlike many of colleagues, she didn’t attempt to hide her identity. Anyone who had studied Rocket would have come across her face. She peeled away from the shadows. Her features grew dark with a wicked grin that slowly creased her dark lips, “Ooohh you must have me mistaken for someone else, darling,” a slow, melodic voice purred. She stopped just shy of fully coming into the light, letting half of it reveal her face, “Someone who gives a fuck.”

Violence was beat into her. She wasn’t born with it.

The echo of ghostly chains creaked from the shadows. The sound came from everywhere all at once. ANCHOR SHOT shot out from the ethereal plane like angry whips to try and trap the Salamence and their rider.

They weren’t allowed to change their mind: Their fate now lies in the brutal hands of Alexandra Briarwood.

The Dhelmise groaned like the hull of an old ship tensing against the waves. The STEELWORKER doubled down on the chains, its anchor attempting to find purchase and dig into the sapphire scales of its opponent. The slow, clink of retracting chains echoed across the space as the ghost attempted to tighten its hold, a crushing force of steel.

The Dhelmise wasn’t the only ghost in the shadows. As the dark energy of NIGHT DAZE pulsed forward from the ebon fox, a DAZZLING GLEAM erupted from the shadows. The fae energy fizzled against the darkness in an array of cracks, pops, and flashes of light. The opposing energies fizzle each other out and Lex’s mischievous grin grows.

Beside her in the shadows a faint light glows. Two sinister, crimson orbs burn through the darkness, unblinking. They simmer with bitter malevolence, the product of pure hatred and spite. This is no watered down shadow pokemon from the inbreeding of the daycare. This abomination is as pure as the poison that runs through its veins that made it this way.

The ghostly figure shifts, a slow draw into the light. The veil of shadows lifts and the faint light marks the hideous features of Hecate. Her cracked, dry lips peeled back in a sinister smile. Unnaturally sharp, long fangs dripped with saliva brought on by its desperate hunger for violence. It seemed to care little for being completely outmatched by a dark-type. It relished in pain and agony not only of itself but others.

Its target wasn’t the Zoroarak. Why bother with the tools when you could focus on the creator?

Both trainer and pokemon disappeared in a flash of TELEPORT, Lex finding purchase on a fire escape while the Shadow Pokemon appeared beside Gunner. Her claw-like fingers lashed out at his skull, a ghostly matter that would phase through his skin to implant the notion of sleep with a blast of HYPNOSIS if given the chance.

The Salamence’s flames follow the chains up to the body of the phantom controlling them. The fire hisses and pops against the moist weeds draped over the ghost’s wooden hull. The seaweed writhes in pain, curling and screeching as the fire overwhelms the ghost. Their chains break and with a sharp screech of rusted gears, they retract back into the Dhelmise with a snap. The pokemon retreats into a PHANTOM FORCE to regain its composure and assess the dragon through the veil between worlds.

A rather harsh, guttural choke of frustration cracks from the Shadow Pokemon’s throat when the HYPNOSIS fails. Her concentration on the human left her open to assault by the SLUDGE BOMB.

The attack would have any normal Gardevoir reeling in pain as the corrosive sludge ate away and their sensitive skin. This Gardevoir hardly seemed phased. The viscous slime dripped from her bodice like ectoplasm from a wound. Her GHOSTLY skin hardly appeared affected aside from the occasional hiss of corrosion that felt more like a tiny Weedle sting.

The ghost shifted her attention back to her attacker, pressing another palm forward to blast the Zoroarak with DAZZLING GLEAM.

A satisfied cackle choked out of the pokemon’s throat as it watched the Zoroarak slump unconscious to the floor of the alley. The shadow pokemon moved forward with every intention to finish the job and absorb the dark-type’s soul into the phantom world. Her focus made her vulnerable, and the STEEL WING came as a surprise.

A loud, horrible scream of both pain and anger echoed off the alley’s stone walls. The ghost disappeared into the shadows when knocked back, giving both trainer and pokemon some breathing room for a moment. The Dhelmise reappeared from their PHANTOM FORCE opposite where it originally was. It’s anchor groaned again as the rusty, brittle chains lashed out again to try and seal them in place with another ANCHOR SHOT.

Ghostly chains cracked against the pavements as they missed the retreating Salamence, “FUCK!” Lex snapped, a fist painfully crashing against the grating of the fire escape she was perched on. She hated leaving without a prize.

A swift few moves brought her back down to the pavement. She returned the weary Dhelmise and banished the Shadow Gardevoir back to the phantom realm, stifling her disappointment for now. She had work to do - and Seal Stone to steal. She lunged forward, back on her original course before she was interrupted by the masked man.
