"Swallow?" Gunner echoed, alarmed by Angelo's word choice. But he didn't argue. Instead, he whistled sharply over the din of the HURRICANE winds, summoning his Zoroark to his side. Mordred returned, obedient, to his Pokéball.[break][break]

Gunner turned away from the beach, tugging on his companion's arm. "Let's get out of here! Merlin, we're retreating!"[break][break]

The Alakazam nodded as his eyes glowed bright purple — the same hue of psychic energy that hovered far above them. Then, in an instant, the two men and their Pokémon vanished, reappearing a safe distance away to the south.[break][break]

Gunner looked over at Angelo, his pale hair windswept. "What was that?" he demanded — though between the sudden squall and the other man's brightly glowing eyes, he could have been asking about either of them.

TELEPORT CREATES DISTANCE. far enough that they’re spare from what comes next.

the twinkling dot of MEWTWO’s MIRACLE EYE is hard to miss but impossible to discern from its current altitude. the BARRIER that envelopes it is a different matter altogether. the glowing orb draws everyone’s attention until it suddenly plummets onto the beach.

sand kicks up in all direction, obscuring the pokemon’s actual form. only LATIOS truly knows what this beast looks like.

from behind the newfound veil, it starts to pick and humans and pokemon with its PSYCHIC. each one is given a brief glance before they’re deemed unsatisfactory. the twist of its telekinetic powers hurls them away, like rifling for fresh fruit at your local pokemart.

Gunner Graves makes the right call - the smart call - to retreat from the alien creature before it has a chance to cut them off from the outside world completely.

Angelo, however, can't help but hesitate. Frustrated.

He'd been keeping a weather eye on the horizon for this thing, in the hopes that he'd see it again. Face it again.

It's the Alakazam's radiating psychic powers in the corner of his eye that snaps Angelo from his frosty wishes, recalling his Glimmora and telepathically urging his partner to come to him.

Latios dives without delay, reaching the group just in time to be pulled into the range of the teleport. All of them spirited away.

Spat out on the beach, Angelo stumbles from the jolt of crossing space and immediately whirls around to find the monster. Heart thudding heavy.

When he does, Gunner's demand is answered subconsciously. “Wish I fucking knew.”

Down the beach, shadows bathed in moonlight and clouds of sand are haphazardly thrown. Bodies mercilessly tossed aside like a Meowth playing with baby Pidgey.

Angelo's mouth is a tense line.

“I'll fill you in later. We should move before it catches on... and warn others to steer clear.”

Tearing his gaze away, ignoring the trickle of sweat that beads down his throat, Angelo begins to walk in the opposite direction. Sure that Gunner Graves would follow.

Gunner didn't expect Angelo to have answers, but the words I'll fill you in later promised at least a partial explanation. Tight-lipped and suspicious of what exactly the other man knew, the agent nodded his head.[break][break]

He cast one last backward glance down the beach where the mysterious force ripped apart the Rocket operatives and their Pokémon, tossing them around like flimsy dolls. They were lucky to leave when they had.[break][break]

Turning on his heel, Gunner followed Angelo down the shoreline, heading back in the direction toward Dewford, safety, and intel.
