The Poké Ball's capture lock clicked, Raikiri retrieving his new catch for Josh. While it took quite a bit of getting used to, it was nice having a Pokémon that could switch between bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion with ease. It let him reap the benefits of keeping a humanoid Pokémon on his team while still remaining true to his Gym's theme. He still loved Saber, but Raikiri was becoming a serious competitor for the title of favorite Pokémon on his team. It had to be "on his team" specifically, for his favorite Pokémon was a god, and one that there was a good chance was no longer in Hoenn.

"Unfortunately, I did not," Josh answered. "I was still in Johto at the time. I would have loved to participate - seems like my jam." Raikiri's eyes followed the steel-type Pokémon commonly associated with ruins, and a very helpful one to have when exploring them. Their ability to open locked doors was invaluable. "That's mostly what I came here for. It's been lovely talking with you, and I'd love to chat about the tournament next time we see each other. Unfortunately, I need to head back to Mauville City. Have a good one, Michail!" The Gym Leader turned his Zeraora around, the two going their separate ways.
