Nevertheless, like an elephant returning to its ancestral graveyard, he found himself drawn to their path nonetheless.[break][break]

By his side were several of the successors that she left in her wake. Duster, her old friend, the Alolan Marowak guiding the group onwards as they followed the herd from a safe distance. Rampage, her protege, the Rhyhorn making admirable efforts at trying to replicate their stance but always falling back on her forelimbs. Akane, her lingering dream, the artificial Tyranitar staring in wonder as it beheld the patterns of an irrational, natural world.[break][break]

Yet chief among them was Neo, the hatchling entrusted to him by Genevieve Cromwell as if by fate. The Aron sat in Isaac's arms, watching as the herd she may have once followed drifted by in the distance.[break][break]

Isaac himself came, not as himself, but as a fifth successor. Clad in armor hewn from blackened iron and silver steel, he was a spitting image of these Aggron from a distance. In fact, at least one trainer had to awkwardly apologize for trying to catch his Sygna Suit. Isaac continued charging his ass as a prank, but ultimately decided it was best to let it go.[break][break]

"Just think, Neo," Isaac said, gently scratching the gap between her head and neck armor. She nuzzled into the hardened tip of his gauntlets, finding it far more effective than bare fingers. "You're not just gonna be like 'em one day. You're gonna be the best of 'em."[break][break]

"We all are."[break][break]

It was a solemn promise from trainer to Pokemon. He would be a better trainer. He would be a better person. They, in turn, would be able to achieve anything and everything they could ever want together. Duster nodded, twirling his bone with a flourish. Rampage's nostrils flared as she stomped the ground. Akane's LED innards flashed a few times in affirmation, their color settling to the blue of an Aggron's eye.[break][break]

They'd had their time to grieve. Kiryu's death would no longer be the shadow hanging over them. Now, her life would be the shining mountain that they could run toward as one.[break][break]

They watched the herd migrate past, letting the ghosts of their past follow it on its way out. Then, with cleared minds and lightened hearts, they went their separate ways.[break][break]
