“A third option…yeah, if it existed, I wouldn’t mind.” He’s going to have to edit so much of this tape later when it’s sent to the League. “But that’s a fairy tale. Unless I’ve got you all wrong, you’re a realist. You know that there’s no third way. Not now. It’d take a lot of money and political capitol to build something like that.”[break][break]
Oh, what he would give for a third option – something he could really, truly believe in. He wishes he could throw himself onto the League war lines with a believer’s zeal like Gabe could. He wishes he had that fire in his eyes. Alas, that’s not the world he’s given.[break][break]
“But I’ll tell you what. No matter what comes next, no matter which side it benefits, I will help the civvies. It’s what I’m here for. I can’t stand people who don’t practice what they preach, either. If the League disowns me for it…well. Just goes to show you’re right. We can have another conversation ‘bout this then.”[break][break]
His eyes go to the battle between the titans at the center of the field. Both bloodied, both barely standing. One now crowned in steel. Draco’s strength suits a crown. His iron head sends Vortigern down. Only his Urshifu and now this other dragon have been able to take him down outright. Impressive, even if he’s going to have to deal with the dragon’s rage afterwards.[break][break]
There’s temptation to call in some extra help, see how Amor fares under pressure, but he shrugs it off. There’s no need. Amor Rose has more than proven his valor. Anyone willing to defend how he sees the world as fiercely as Amor has should have the badge for that alone.[break][break]
Vortigern is recalled in a streak of red light. Let sleeping dragons lie, or so they say. With a wave, Navy gestures Amor to follow him.[break][break]
He is brought before a solid granite wall. Scratched into the rocks are the words of past warriors. Nodding at some tools laid nearby, Navy moves on to the final phase of the gym challenge.[break][break]
“The badge is yours, but before you go, it’s a tradition here to scratch some words into the wall. Pass on some advice for young trainers and the ones who come after you. It sounds like you’ve got something good to tell them.”

He watched as Vortigern fell, and Draco's steel armor vanished as the battle was won, but even the Dragonite was feeling the fatigue of it all as he lumbered back over to his trainer. His opponent had been recalled, but Draco wanted to walk a little more. He felt the ache in his bones, the tears in his flesh, it had been a brutal fight. The last time he felt this worn out was when he was hit with that special move from the Mauville Gym....And this challenger hadn't unveiled anything like that yet. It had been a hard fought battle. A rematch is something he would want later on, but not today.

Amor saw his Dragonite's condition, and recalled him despite his protests. They were going to have to take a few days off so that he could properly recover. Amor wondered if every Gym Leader had pokemon as ferocious as Navy, and Alexei Ivanov. Their dragons were strong, and he realized he was going to have to redouble his efforts to stay ahead of them. Of course he expected the League to have powerful trainers, it was part of the reason he was going about this challenge, to learn about them. The Gym Leaders after all were also the guardians of their cities.

If they were to tangle in the future data was necessary.

"A few words of wisdom huh...." At this Amor was a bit stumped, he hadn't realized this was going to be here. Walking over to pick up the tools he stared at the wall with quotes from past challengers on it. Pass on advice for younger trainers, who aspired to become stronger as well...."Yeah I think I have something, it's a bit basic though...." It wasn't anything groundbreaking, he wasn't inventing a new wheel here.

So carefully he began to etch into the wall the words that he would leave behind for future victors, or losers. Maybe he would be able to help them out.

"If you cannot find a way....Make one...." Was etched into the wall among all the other quotes.

"I hope that suffices...." It was something he had been told alot growing up by his father, and Walter.

Grabbing his badge he would not take up any more of the leaders time, and he'd depart. Perhaps the quote he left was a message of things to come as well. If there was a third option how many would take it?
