aaron's grin transforms into a lip-curl of disgust as mint frost wobbles and grabs at his arm for support, but he's equally too unsteady from the residual aftershocks of the earthquake to pull away. as the world settles beneath the soles of his beat up shoes, he pulls his arm away from his blue-haired partner with an unnecessarily sharp tug.

a blizzard howls across the pitch in the wake of his charizard's earthquake, dropping the temperature uncomfortably around the underdressed man. [break][break]"shit, it's cold," aaron grumbles, rubbing his arm petulantly.

ice crystalizes, then melts, against the heat of his charizard's scales. wings curl protectively in front of her face as habanero's leaf storm channels along cold winds in her direction. the leaves cut against leathery skin, but her mega evolution spares the brunt of it. with a flap of her wings, she dashes the last of the leaves aside and advances towards the scovillain with another gout of flame. [break][break]

Mint doesn't notice, or rather, pretends not to notice how harsh Aaron is with him. Especially when this was his fault in the first place. "No shit." is all he quips back. He was an ice type trainer after all. If the dual type out on the field wasn't enough of a tell. [break][break]

The twinkling TERA BLAST unsteadies Straciatella, despite her best attempts at bracing for it. But she's taken enough damage combined at it is. Huffing and panting without much for defense, she's left with little recourse. As the beautiful beam slams into her, she uses the last of her energy to summon a GRASS KNOT onto Peaches. Even if it can't take her out, at least maybe it'd hold her still while Aaron could try to finish her off. [break][break]

"She's going down!" he hissed at Aaron, as the MEGA ABOMASNOW stumbles, the power of her MEGA EVOLUTION fading.

That last lick of spewed flame is all that's needed to do the scovillan in. The combined prior attacks had winded him enough, and as the FLAMETHOWER wraps around his plant-y body, Habanero bellows before the fall - energy spent. Lam winces, and recalls his pepper buddy to his pokeball for some well-earned rest.[break][break]

Peaches, meanwhile, is filled with vindictive energy. She honks, rage only furthering as vines crawl along the earth and knot around her flipper feet. Angry flailing, she falls backward, but her weight doesn't kick back on her too heavily.[break][break]

"Looks like it's our last stand, Peaches! Give 'em whatcha got!" Lam calls out. He doesn't need to tell her to focus on the abomasnow as they wait out the charizard's mega evolution. Rolling to her belly, she lifts up again and charges straight toward the much bigger abomasnow - now enveloped in light as the mega evolution wears off.[break][break]

Psychic energy collects around her crystallized body as her head tilts forward like a ducky battering ram as she levels a ZEN HEADBUTT straight for Straciatella's belly.

scovillain goes up in flames, then disappears as lam logan recalls him into a pokeball. relief breaks over aaron like a wave, a fleeting i won! on the forefront of his mind until mint frost hisses at him. [break][break]

he looks across the battlefield and catches a glimpse of his charizard lunging into the sky with a leathery snap of her wings. unlike her trainer, she hadn't lapsed in predatory focus. the intoxicating mega evolution coursing through her veins begins to wane, but she rides the last rush as she descends upon straciatella and peaches with an indiscriminate blast of dragon breath. Straciatella is fighting against the clock. She backs off of Peaches the Psyduck as her mega evolution runs out, and is visibly panting from the exhaustion of it all. But they're not done yet. Even as she rushes her with a TERA TYPED attack, Straciatella roars back trying to slow her progress down as she rams towards her with MAGICAL LEAF. [break][break]

But the Psyduck still pounces, smacking the taller dual type onto her back back despite the barrage of sharpened leaves. Straciatella can only vaguely see the Charizard above circling before doing her best to roll away from the impact of the DRAGON BREATH as the last off her energy fades. "C'mon girl, just a little bit longer!" he called out as his partner tried to get back up again.

She does her best to retaliate, she really does, but the double whammy of the paralytic DRAGON'S BREATH stunning Peaches in place followed by the onslaught of MAGICAL LEAVES that smack into her sends the psyduck crashing back to the sandy floor. Her tail swishes, trying to conjure up one last AQUA TAIL to swing at either of their opponents, but it sputters out. In a bright, shattering explosion of lilac and magenta, the terastralization that had encased Peaches falters and disappears as she faints with one last, dramatic PSSSYYYY...[break][break]

Lam clicks his tongue, amused at her theatrics, and recalls her in a beam of light. "Annnnd that's a match!" he calls toward the two challengers with a lopsided grin. "Nice work, dudes! I wasn't sure if you'd manage to work together, but you came through!" Making his way toward the center of the pitch again, he holds out two matching badges in offering. TMs wait at the front desk as well. "You've definitely earned these." With his other hand, he flashes a thumbs up.

"thank fuck," aaron mumbles as lam logan calls the match to a close. with a dramatic sigh of relief, he shuffles across the pitch to meet the gym leader halfway, his smile growing as the distance shrinks. his charizard meets him there, reduced back to her regular form and breathing laboriously after a win well-earned. [break][break]"thanks, bro!" he says, taking the badge with both hands, reverently. "i couldn't have done it without my good friend ... um ... without my good friend!"[break][break]
his smile starts to fall as he turns away from lam logan , catching a glimpse of mint frost as he moves closer to his charizard.

Mint calls back his partner before turning to Lam to pick up his prize. Hopefully, the grunt he had been supposed to help managed well enough on their own. "Course. I can make anything work." he said, as he returned the thumbs up to the gym leader. Close call for Straciatella but at least his partner had won it out. He'd try to take her to a PINE forest this winter as a special treat. [break][break]

"Mint." the beast supplies for his idiot companion as he busies himself pocketing the prize TM. "Sure." he said before glancing over as the Charizard began to take off. "Hey wait!! Get back here with my backpack!!" he shouted as the Charizard and trainer on top began to fly off. [break][break]

He lets out his Tropius, slamming down the pokeball before putting it back away. "Agretti, catch up to him!" he said as he hopped on the plant dinosaurs back before turning to Lam. "Sorry- gotta blast-"
