War truly was hell.

It seemed no less than a few months ago that Josh had been in the Dewford area, fighting for his life against some of the most dangerous executives, even Avatars, in Team Rocket. Part of his duties as a Gym Leader included fighting on the front lines as a general of the Hoenn League's army. Those duties would cause him to cross paths with an old enemy of his.

It would be easy for to recognize the Mauville Leader; his Zeraora mount, Raikiri, was an extremely well-known quantity by now. Most Zeraora stood upright; Josh's moved like a feral cat. While Raikiri possessed incredible speed, with that speed came great responsibility, too. The giant thundercat picked up speed as they advanced north toward enemy territory. With his feline's reins in one hand and Danjuro the Honedge in another, Josh and the Type: Null running alongside him were ready to ram and trample anyone in his way.

The Gym Leader that was encroaching upon the shore that Amor had designated as his to defend was soon going to run into several issues. With his suit on Amor could see them farther out, and so he summoned his Nidoking, something that the one charging ahead would remember from their last bout. Seraphim had used it to great effect in order to cripple the pride of the lions that he thought would be enough to defeat him. However he had been found wanting then, and he would be found wanting now.

"Poison it all before they get here Ereshiskal....." He gave the cold command as several orbs of poisonous energy landed on the stretch of land leading up to them. Toxic Spikes would be planted for any foolhardy enough to just charge recklessly among this stretch of land. This was his domain, and he would let it be known that none would just pass so easily. Though he was curious to see how the other's pokemon held up to his estimations. owned a Zeraora now....But Amor had, had one for so long, and so he understood that pokemon's strengths very well.

In fact he had brought two special pokemon with him today just to test out how they worked with another. So Seraphim waited for the challenger to step into his realm.

TLDR
Seraphim is still a ways away from Josh!
As Josh encroaches, Nidoking uses Toxic Spikes to punish foolhardy people who don't pay attention!
Seraphim is simply waiting for Josh to get closer!

Party for this thread is Nidoking, Iron Thorns, Zeraora, Cinderace, Scizor, and Garchomp

An unaided Zeraora would have charged right into the field of spikes. With the Gym Leader's guidance and precise tugs on the thundercat's reins, the two working together weaved around the minefield. It did, however, give Amor exactly what Josh didn't want to give him: time. It wouldn't be much time, though; Raikiri was still one quick Pokémon!

Aleph, on the other hand, recklessly plowed through the field of spikes. While the venom was painful, it didn't stop the hardy Type: Null from lunging toward 's Nidoking, looking to ram the poison-type off its feet and rake across it with his CRUSH CLAW.

Time is all he needed, and the moment the Type:Null got close enough to land it's Crush Claw Nidoking was prepared with an Earth Power to retaliate right back. Feeling the powerful claws dig into his abdomen did nothing to deter him from unleashing the powerful on his opponent at point blank range. Of course if the mistake against nature wanted to continue to fight him it was more than welcome too, but it was now on a timer against Ereshiskal. This battle was going to play out the exact same as the last time, unless the Gym Leader had grown at all.

"Ah if it isn't the hypocrite Gym Leader again....Didn't get enough of me during our last battle, and looking for a rematch?" The man in the cyber suit sneered out in his robotic voice. Amor detested everything that the League supposedly stood for, and so far he had yet to be proven wrong about them being just as bad as Rocket. If anything he was continually proven right, and so he folded his arms across his chest. "Allow me to finish driving those fragile ideals you cling to, into the dirt." The battle would be different this time. Amor wasn't going to hold back....Because Seraphim was 's opponent today.

TLDR
Ereshiskal gets hit by Crush Claw
Ereshiskal uses Earth Power on Type:Null!
Amor sneers at Josh!

The stakes were high the last time and had squared off. Thie time, they were even higher. So what if the League had some glaring issues? Most of them were the fault of one or two bad actors. The more he thought about Amor's words, the more he realized the need for a smear campaign against Matias. Why couldn't the people of Hoenn see that man was unfit for the position? Letting the Head Scientist get in his head was one of the ways he was defeated during their last encounter.

That was not going to happen again.

"I won't bother wasting words on those unwilling to listen."

Remaining laser focused astride his ultrafast Zeraora steed, Josh circled the battling Type: Null and Nidoking. He would get directly involved in the battle when the time was right. For now, he observed the bloody battle between his chimeric Pokémon and the hulking poison-type. Venom dripped from Aleph's wounds as he grew weaker, the EARTH POWER's vibrations further agitating his wounds.

While he wasn't fast by Josh's standards, Aleph could put on some speed, turning tail to widen the gap between himself and Ereshiskal. Turning around, the Ultra Beast Killer fired a TRI-ATTACK beam from the spikes on his control mask.

The Type:Null was still standing, but not for long. Amor watched as Josh circled around him, already his hand was on his sword in case the Gym Leader tried to do something. It didn't make much difference this battle was only going to go one day, even as the Tri-Attack made contact with his Nidoking it didn't matter if the pokemon fell. It had done it's job for his trainer. Regardless it would fire back at the abomination pokemon one more time with a powerful Megahorn. Ereshiskal's horn would glow bright as he charged straight ahead, and attempted to ram into the enemy that was in front of him.

"Then I won't waste time trying to teach someone who can't be taught." Came the robotic voice in response to the Gym Leaders words. As long as the League was filled with the unworthy, Amor would tear them each down piece by piece until something tolerable could be built in it's place. If the entire region had to burn for that ideal to become reality, then he would light the match himself.

TLDR
Nidoking takes the Tri Attack!
Nidoking uses Megahorn!
The time for words is over!

The toxic MEGAHORN pierced the Normal-type's belly, forcing Josh to withdraw him before the Pokémon he had sacrificed so much to create suffered in a way he wouldn't be able to recover from. He instinctively reached for Fire Eyes' Poké Ball first, feeling the Nidoking would have a hard time handling her corrosive venom. Just as he was about to hurl the poison-type's Poké Ball, he grabbed Luna's instead.

The swift, saddled Liepard leaped out of her Poké Ball, squeaking as the TOXIC SPIKES pierced one of her paws when she touched down. Shaking her head, she sprinted toward the Nidoking, turning one direction then the other in an effort to FAKE OUT the foe and open a window for her trainer's main attacker to strike.

- The MEGAHORN takes Type: Null down.
- Josh replaces the Type: Null with a Liepard, FAKING OUT the Nidoking and giving Josh time to advance his Zeraora into striking distance.

At the defeat of the Type: Null, Ereshiskal was already ready for the next attack, and it soon came in the form of a Liepard as it rushed towards the Nidoking with incredible dexterity. Ereshiskal lowered his horn, and attempted to Megahorn the feline, but at the last second was dodged, and Faked Out leaving him open for a counter attack easily enough. Amor had kept his eyes on the encroaching Gym Leader, and whatever he was going to attempt, Amor already had a plan. There was only so many ways for him to attack the Nidoking.

All of his pokemon were just new swords in a sheath for him to wield against his enemies, and this would be no exception. If one broke then he would simply replace it with another. Though Amor simply waited, watching like a snake about to coil around, and strike it's prey.

TLDR
Nidoking is hit by Fake Out, and stunned!
Amor is watching Josh's movements carefully!

The Fake Out not only served as a lightning-fast blow, but it also served as a goading tactic, attempting to make herself the center of attention. She slinked off to one side before pouncing Ereshiskal with a blinding NIGHT SLASH to the midsection with reckless abandon. She would deliver cut after cut until the Nidoking forcibly removed her.

Josh, too, circled Amor and his Pokémon like a prowling cat, ready to pounce when the time was right. In a burst of AGILITY that caused the front of the Gym Leader's skin to push against his bones. This was speed not even 's Zeraora showed the last time they met. The duo circled the battleground like a yellow comet, one swerve away from ramming into Amor or one of his Pokémon with too much speed to react to.

- Raikiri's AGILITY makes the already fast Zeraora even faster.
- Luna tries to goad Nidoking before lunging at it with NIGHT SLASH.

All of the previous attacks had whittled him down enough that the Night Slash managed to hit a critical point on the Nidoking, and slowly he fell down to the ground. Exhausted, and damaged he was the first to fall. In a flash of red, Amor kept a steady watch as the Gym Leader continued on with his Zeraora increasing the speed at which they moved. So Amor sent out two pokemon this time, anticipating him to use the Mythical at some point....Amor would not be caught off guard by such petty tactics.

"You have failed to learn, speed can be a good strength if utilized properly, but you have yet to shore up the immense amount of weaknesses it has." A Garchomp, and Cinderace duo appeared, and instantly Typhon the Garchomp used Sandstorm to not only lower his opponents visibility, but also boost his own evasion. It would also slowly eat away at the stamina of his opponents. Infernum the Cinderace however targeted the Liepard with a Scorching Sands, and immediately it's body began to glow green as Libero activated, and made it a ground type.

So now it was immune to the effects of the Sandstorm it's partner had just put out.

"Like your ideals, your battle style is one dimensional....And very easy to break through...." The robotic voice almost sounded disappointed.

TLDR
Nidoking faints!
Amor sends out Cinderace, and Garchomp!
Garchomp uses Sandstorm, and it's Sand Veil activates!
Cinderace uses Scorching Sands on Liepard, and Libero activates making it a ground type!

Josh's visor kept him safe from the Sandstorm, but was the rattle of its grains against his helmet ever loud from the speed he was riding at. He had to save Raikiri for as long as possible, because the Zeraora had a secret weapon. As counterintuitive as it was, he needed to buy time to build his mount's speed up to his limits. Limits that would push the Gym Leader's own speed tolerance. Going so fast truly made him feel like he was fighting on Raikou's back. Raikou-at-home, in his eyes.

"Luna, DOUBLE TEAM!" Josh commanded, the Liepard using the well-practiced speed-boosting move was certainly more than familiar with. With cunning positioning, the SCORCHING SANDS may have grazed the Garchomp as Luna's blurred double vanished.

The presence of the two ground-types did not look good for Josh at all. Why did the very fastest Pokémon all have to have the same weak points? He had little other choice, though. He hurled Fire Eyes' Poké Ball toward the Garchomp, Josh immediately ordering the saddled lizard to use DRAGON PULSE. As dangerous as the Cinderace was, the Garchomp could match Josh in his element of speed. A purple wave of vitriol flew outward from the large poison-type's open mouth, threatening to engulf the dragon in a taste of its own power.

- Luna uses DOUBLE TEAM to get out of the way of SCORCHING SANDS.
- Josh sends out his Salazzle, who points DRAGON PULSE at the Garchomp.

For someone that relied so heavily on speed he underestimate the Garchomp's Sand Veil as it evaded the Dragon Pulse quickly to let the attack crash behind them. The Liepards Double Team was troublesome, but not unworkable, as the grating sand would do it's job still. The Salazzle was an issue though....They possessed a unique ability that would allow them to poison anything. Whether this one had that same ability he didn't know, but he wasn't going to take any chances, and he was going to try, and take it out as quickly as possible.

"Scorching Sands, Sand Tomb....Take out the Salazzle!" He gave the order as both of his pokemon attempted to strike down the pokemon that their trainer had deemed troublesome. Josh had chosen properly by sending out a poison type that would be immune to his trap, but it still suffered the same weaknesses as his electric types. So he would exploit that, as the two attacks leapt at it. There was still the Zeraora that the other had that he was going to have to contend with. Though he would use his own in order to combat it. So it truly just boiled down to him defeating the rest of his opponents team.

TLDR
Sand Veil allows Garchomp to dodge Dragon Pulse
Both Garchomp, and Cinderace use Sand Tomb, and Scorching Sands on Salazzle!
2/5 for Sandstorm!
Cinderace is still a Ground Type!

The Ground-type cross strike, while nigh unavoidable in the low-visibility environment, were slow to reach the venomous reptile. Knowing there was nowhere to run, the courageous Pokémon belched corrosive POISON GAS between the attacks headed its way, the cloud expanding toward Amor's two Pokémon. The poison-type's screech was muffled by sand both hot and cold.

"Fire Eyes!" Josh cried, abandoning his post to save his valuable partner. With a strong tug pinching against the Zeraora's halters, the electric feline shot toward the smoldering SCORCHING SANDS like a lightning bolt. The force of the charge would have been whiplash-inducing for any rider other than Josh, the Master of Faster perhaps the only one in all of Hoenn with the physical fortitude and the skill to ride a Zeraora into battle effectively.

Though Josh was occupied with recovering his Pokémon in time to save her life, the opportunistic Luna was more than capable of fighting without orders. Taking advantage of its misdirected attention, Luna raised her glinting claws, raking across the Garchomp with a NIGHT SLASH aimed at its soft belly.

- Josh's Salazzle belches corrosive POISON GAS toward the attackers before being buried by the Ground-type attacks.
- Zeraora bolts toward the buried Salazzle, furiously digging to expose enough of the poison-type for his trainer to recall him.
- Liepard rakes toward Garchomp with a NIGHT SLASH, going for its sensitive underside.

The gas spreads around both, and he frowns underneath his helm knowing that there is little to nothing that he can do about the power of it. With two of his pokemon on a timer, now he will have to make the most of it. The Night Slash finds purchase as the poison courses through his Garchomp's veins, but it is now a two on one. Infernum, the Cinderace kicks up a pebble in it's feet, and then launches a powerful Pyro Ball at the Liepard, while Typhon attempts to keep it still by using Sand Tomb once more.

This battle would end the same way each time until the Gym Leader learned to evolve. His enemy was doing his best in order to dig out his buried pokemon, but such distractions could spell disastrous. Amor however wasn't here to take a life today. So he would let the disgraced Leader get his partner without harassment this time.

Counting the Liepard, and Zeraora....There were only three more pokemon to get through before he had to deal with the mans mythical that he was riding around on. Once the odds were squarely in his favor, he would deal with that creature as well....By whatever means necessary.

TLDR
Garchomp is poisoned!
Cinderace is poisoned!
Night Slash hits Garchomp!
Cinderace uses Pyro Ball on Liepard swapping his type back to fire!
Garchomp uses Sand Tomb on Liepard to keep it still!
Sandstorm 3/5!

The Garchomp's SAND TOMB left Luna trapped and unable to move as the Cinderace spiked a PYRO BALL toward the dark-type feline's face. A horrific critical hit lifted her off her feet and into the sandy whirlwind. That same whirlwind blocked the retraction beam of the Liepard's Poké Ball as Josh attempted to recall her, the sand piling on top of her by the second. If Josh didn't act quickly and take the Garchomp down, she would suffocate and die.

Every second mattered.

Sensing the Leader's urgency, a saddle-wearing Raichu of great size jumped out of one of his fed remaining Poké Balls. Bravely bounding toward the vicious dragon and winding his tail up, he about-faced in a split second. The momentum shift unwound Toralf's tail, his long, bladed bolt screaming toward 's dragon with the speed and power of a cracking IRON TAIL whip. Seeing the Gym Leader would likely need to take matters into his own hands soon, he also reached behind his shoulder and drew Danjuro. Now armed with a Honedge, he and Raikiri could dish out some serious hurt.

- The crossing attacks leave Liepard severely burned. Josh attempts to recall her but the attempt fails.
- Liepard is in danger of dying.
- Josh hurls his final Poké Ball containing a Raichu.
- Raichu flicks its IRON TAIL toward Garchomp like a bladed whip.
- Josh draws his Honedge, Danjuro.
