Little could have really prepared Yuina for the gravity of the developing situation that seemed to come about in only just hours since the region started reporting a strange formation coming up from the waters of Route 105, and in such a short time span it was beginning to turn into a war zone. That rocket organization was on the front lines trying to get there first, and the league and rangers called for all able bodied operatives to fight back.[break]
The island must be claimed so that whatever resources or Pokemon or whatever else could be found there didn't fall into the wrong hands...[break]
There were commands and assignments being thrown left and right from the highest leaders in the organization, and Yuina was tasked with trying to maintain an air perimeter out above the ocean waters to keep an eye on anyone trying to approach the island from the skies. She was mounted on Flix the Flygon and had Rasza the Charizard out with her in the air, the two dragons keeping their senses sharp. She didn't know what to expect, but being out in the open like this just didn't feel like the best idea...

Zev soared on the back of his Corviknight over the island's southern coast, scanning the skies for League patrols. He was there to disrupt League scouts and aerial defense, in the ongoing effort to prevent them from breaching the center of the landmass.[break][break]

Up ahead, a girl in a Ranger's uniform sat astride her Flygon, with a Charizard flying nearby. Zev steered his Corviknight toward them and reached for a Pokéball at his belt. Opening it, he released his Flutter Mane.[break][break]

As soon as he and his team drew near, he whistled a sharp command to both his Pokémon. Corviknight attacked first, trying to strike the Flygon down with STEEL WING. Flutter Mane followed with a THUNDERBOLT aimed at the Charizard.

So far, the air was clear, Yuina was keeping her vigil and just trying to get a grasp on the gravity of the situation with the information she'd been given. She wasn't much in the way of an important figure, it wasn't like she was going to be involved in any decision making, but if she was being assigned to defensive posts in this war zone conflict, that had to count for something, right?[break][break]
Contemplating her place in things, Yuina definitely hadn't noticed that someone was above her, but there was only a split moment and the sound of a sharp whistle that carried through the air that let her and her Pokemon know that something was going on. Flix was the first to react, the shadow of something quickly approaching him prompted the dragon to start moving in the air, and Yuina gasped as she hung on to him. The dragon screeched as his back leg got clipped by the assault as he dove out of the way, turning in the air and coming out to the offensive. Rasza wasn't so lucky, the range that the surging electricity had gave her no such indication that she was about to get struck, and the Thunderbolt surged over her black scales as she roared out and fell through the air.[break][break]
Yuina was shaken up, but wasn't entirely disoriented, she just hadn't expected to be bombarded by a surprise attack when she caught sight of her assailant on the back of a large armored bird. She couldn't see their face, but she didn't need to see anything else to know that she was now in a fight with a rocket operative. Yuina motioned Flix, and the dragon was now going on the defensive, hoping to out speed the bird to get a vantage point. Rasza from below after gaining her altitude back roared up at the strange teal Pokemon that lofted in the air and released a Fire Spin attack to try and begin subduing their other opponent.

As Corviknight sped after the Flygon with Zev on her back, Flutter Mane took the full force of the Charizard's FIRE SPIN. It cried out in pain, reeling as flames licked its ghostly body. With a shake of its head, it reoriented itself, then sped after its ally and master.[break][break]

Once Corviknight was near enough to the enemy Flygon, she flared her wings. Star-like energy burst from them as SWIFT rained down upon the Dragon-type and its rider.[break][break]

By then, Flutter Mane had caught up. Screeching with fury, it aimed a MOONBLAST at Charizard.

This was a full on assault at this point, and Yuina was going to do what she could, but she wasn't sure exactly what all that was going to be... She was clung to the back of her Flygon as the dragon moved through the air, and she could hope that Rasza was fairing well in her battle against the strange teal Pokemon that floated through the air.[break]
The bird was above them now as their assailant continued to pursue them, and from its wings a shower of stars shot down around them. Yuina screamed as Flygon turned in the air, spiraling through the star shower, but the dragon screeched and Yuina held on for dear life, crying out as she too got struck by the attack striking them in the air. Flix wavered in the air, but only for a moment, turning again and trying to shake off the attack that scratched his scales, they had to try and keep their distance... If Rasza could take care of the other Pokemon attacking them, then maybe they could stand a chance... But she couldn't dare to confront this person head on, she couldn't even see who they were, it would do her no good to try and fight face to face if she wouldn't be able to pick them out next time she might find them...[break][break]
Soaring through the air having shaken off the electricity of the thunderbolt that struck her, Rasza turned in the air to face the offending ghost. It cried with malice, and took aim at Rasza as glowing pink energy began to emit from its control, firing a beam of energy towards her. Rasza held fire in her throat and in turn released an Inferno to combat the beam, pushing with all her might to fend off the moonblast and make it past the energy to strike.

Flutter Mane's MOONBLAST and the Charizard's INFERNO collided in a brilliant, mid-air display of elemental power. The two attacks seesawed toward each other far longer than Zev liked, however. A click of his tongue against his teeth had his Corviknight wheeling around to interrupt the Fire-type.[break][break]

Then he pressed the key stone in his wristwatch, and the sky lit up with searing light as Corviknight underwent Mega Evolution. Her shape expanded and her feathers transformed. When the light dissipated, she was enormous, her wingspan blocking the sun.[break][break]

The eight blade birds on her back detached. As they sped toward the Flygon to keep up Zev's assault, Mega Corviknight uttered a guttural caw and flapped her wings, summoning a G-MAX WIND RAGE to slam into the Charizard.

Shielding her eyes and trying to keep out of the way of the terrible explosion of power above them as Rasza tried to fend off the teal Pokemon, Yuina wasn't sure how much longer the fire type would be able to go on. She'd already taken a heavy hit and was expending a lot of energy trying to keep up with the battle, but then things took a devastating turn... A flash of energy came from their assailant, and the bird they rode on was consumed by a field of glowing energy until it emerged, massive, powerful, and surely ready to end things...[break][break]
Making her way back into the battle on Flix, the Flygon flapped his wings furiously to strike a Bug Buzz on the teal Pokemon, but their efforts seemed to be in vain as the terrifyingly large bird flapped its wings once, shifting the entire series of air currents around them. Yuina screamed, struggling to remain on the Flygon's back as the dragon tried to remain in the air, but as Rasza was gearing up to take the full force of the blow that she had no hope of dodging, Yuina focused, she remembered the lesson that Greyson Connors had offered her...[break][break]
Rasza roared, she was dealt a heavy blow, and the dragon began to fall through the air, but Yuina's will reached out to her, and she gave everything, every ounce of her own being that she could. Rasza was consumed by a brilliant light, and even in the eclipse of the bird's massive wings the sun began to shine that much brighter in kind, and from the energy Rasza emerged again in a new form. It was a last ditch effort, Yuina was sure they would have to try to find a way to escape before too much longer, they couldn't keep going like this, and Rasza's power might be what they needed as the dragon released a newly empowered Inferno to try and combat the enormous bird.

Zev's eyes narrowed as the girl's Charizard Mega Evolved in kind, bringing DROUGHT upon their immediate area. While a viable tactic in most instances, Flutter Mane would also be empowered by the harsh sunlight.[break][break]

His opponent must have been unfamiliar with Paradox Pokémon. That was the only conclusion he could reach as his Corviknight dipped toward the ocean, dodging the INFERNO that cut through the air.[break][break]

Zev tapped her on the back, his other hand fisting her steel feathers. Her body shimmered with IRON DEFENSE, added protection in case the Charizard continued its dogged assault.[break][break]

Flutter Mane advanced, basking in the sun's radiant energy. She unleashed it all at once as another THUNDERBOLT at the Charizard.

Their attacker's Pokemon were too quick, it's like they couldn't even touch them both... The ghost like Pokemon dodged out of Flix's attack given the way the giant bird disrupted the entire air space, and even in Rasza's new found power, the enormous bird dodged out of the way and shook the very air again with every push of its wings.[break]
Yuina was panicked, they couldn't keep going like this, she couldn't have possibly been prepared for any of this, but here she was, facing off with someone who hadn't even said a single word to her, and they didn't need to... They didn't need to tell her that she was no good in this clash for her to know it to be true... Yuina was focused on staying mounted on Flix's back, she hadn't even paid attention to the surge of power the ghost like Pokemon received, there was a sharp, powerful crackle of electricity, and Rasza's roar. Yuina gasped, looking out to the air space, and found Rasza done for, the Charizard couldn't handle the electricity surging along her scales, and she was falling...[break][break]
"NO," Yuina shouted, motioning on Flix, and the Flygon spun in the air to head towards their falling companion. She managed to return the fainted Charizard to her Pokeball, but Yuina saw no point in trying to continue the battle, she had no footing and no way to understand how to face these opponents when she didn't even know what they were... In a last ditch attempt to save herself and Flix, Yuina motioned the Flygon to take off towards the island, they had to get out of there before anything else happened...
