Josh sighed as Aleph's red eyes shot his trainer a death stare, the young man removing his hands from the Type: Null's back. "Still no?" he moaned as the newly-fitted Expresso's neck craned around his trainer to try to comfort him. It had been months since he had made major sacrifices, including the lives of a Corviknight and Drampa he dearly loved.

Somewhat dejected, Josh climbed aboard the psychic bird, impressed with the saddle and bridle the Verdanturf tanner had crafted for Expresso. There was not one squawk or mental intrusion from the speedy Pokémon. The saddle's curvature was a bit steeper than normal to help keep Josh from falling off the bipedal Pokémon; with the Espathra's neck nowhere near stable enough to brace against if he ever lost his grip on the reins, extra safety was important, especially for a Pokémon that could not be ridden on the highway at speed due to safety and regional speed limits on public roads.

Expresso squawked upon hearing a metallic screech echoing from the north, startling Josh. "What in the world... I thought I heard Bora. Why, though?" Curious to see the source of the screech, its sound distinct from other Corviknight he had met, Josh waved his Type: Null ahead, bracing himself for his first ride on the bird Pokémon known for its incredible land speed...

For once in a life time, Aidan had decided to take a small break in his, there was no investigations, no missing persons request and best of all no Rocket mission. No better time to to visit one of the most peaceful towns in Hoenn.[break][break]

Making his way through the more empty streets, still trying to keep a low profile. After all his main goal had been to stay away from hustle and bustle that Slateport had always been, freeing himself from the noise and buzz of people. A simple man making his way to a peaceful afternoon, his only company was his shadow that happened to be dark enough for two.[break][break]

Walking past an alley before his ears are assaulted by a strange metallic sound, a type of screech he had never heard before. Taking a step back to stand in front of the alley trying to figure out what on earth was making the noise. Taking a slow step towards the direction he thought the noise had come from.[break][break]

"ReD ooooOOOOrrrrR BluuuuE?" A strange voice echoed through the buildings, almost shaking Aidan's bones. "Blue? I guess..." Was this a prank? Was someone trying to play tricks on him, there was only one way to figure it out, sadly Aidan didn't exactly want to do it alone.[break][break]

Once they were off the main roads, Josh squeezed the psychic bird's sides. The Pokémon's powerful legs propelled the two at speeds even the Gym Leader wasn't expecting. Hideo Kino had once told him of Espathra's great running capabilities, and now he got to experience it first-hand. Expresso's subtle psychic hold on the rider kept Josh stable on the awkwardly-shaped Shiny Pokémon's back.

Disobeying the Gym Leader's commands, the bird sprinted toward the source of the grating voice only he could seemingly hear. "Uhhhh... blue?" the entranced-looking rider answered the figment's question aloud. Once he had given his answer, pangs of dizziness tore into his senses, only aware of Aidan Hereford 's presence well afterward. "How... how did I get here? And who are you?" the Espathra-back trainer asked. Aleph was nowhere close by, falling asleep in a distant alleyway.

Was this one of the new occurrences that Aidan would have to become accustomed with? Answering questions to a disembodied voice? This all really felt like a cautionary tale that parents would tell their kids before they went to sleep, to stay away from streange voices and noises coming from dark alleys.[break][break]

Almost like a scene straight out of a cartoon. Another poor individual was dragged, more like ridden into the scene. Something about meeting strange new people on the daily basis didn't exactly sit right with Aidan, he had always tried to stay away from unknown trouble. [break][break]

But before Aidan could answer the stranger's question and as if on queue of a play or movie. "What in tarnation!?" Aidan would say wide eyed as the Sonic ring in front of them started spitting out the shiny Squirtles. [break][break]

Thankfully Gengar's reaction was better than Aidan's, the pokemon would quickly leap out from his owners shadow making it the proper shade it should have been. Along with it's leap into action the Gengar would hit one of the squirtle straight with a SUCKER PUNCH.[break][break]

The dozens of shelled, RAPID SPINNING Pokémon caught Expresso and Aleph both off guard, Josh yelping as he felt the thrust from the psychic-type's powerful POUNCING kick. Despite the telekinetic hold, the Gym Leader's instincts had him clutching the bipedal bird's reins tightly. Spreading his brown wings wide, Josh's mount surrounded himself with LUMINA CRASH before colliding with any Squirtle in his path.

A second group of six surrounded Aleph with their whirling shells. For each he was able to send flying with a swiping CRUSH CLAW, several others crashed into him. After several blows all around his body, the Type: Null barely stood. Their numbers were slowly thinning out, but the Gym Leader's best battler he had brought with him wasn't doing so hot. His reaction times grew more sluggish as his stamina waned.
