Night had fallen upon Lilycove, chasing away the sun's warmth and bringing a certain chill to the sprawling streets. The city's famous fish market had closed; each stall was dark and empty, devoid of the wares that normally overflowed from bins and buckets.[break][break]

Zev stood just outside the market's front gate, contemplating the heavy padlock while he waited for Aidan Hereford to appear. He was dressed all in black, a wool coat worn over a bespoke black suit and tie.[break][break]

Tucked away in a shoulder holster was a pistol, while sheathed at his hip was a combat knife. Six Pokéballs were clipped to his belt.[break][break]

Pulling back a sleeve, Zev checked his watch. The appointed hour for the rendezvous was almost nigh. Aidan should be there soon.

Hidden by the veil of night, familiar darkness filling all the corners that Aidan could see, the silence of the night only making things feel uneasy and familiar. Despite wearing his darkest pieces of clothing, stealth wasn't exactly his goal, knowing the night would be the one taking care of that. Aidan was Someone who had always blended into crowds instead of hiding in the shadows. [break][break]

Making his way towards the rendezvous point Aidan could see his superior. Stepping in loud enough for Zev Harcourt to hear him, a self aware choice that would probably keep himself alive, spooking people from the shadows more often than not got people killed after all. [break][break]

"Hope I'm not late." Aidan would say as he approached. Still not wanting to accidentally spook the man in front of him, he had a feeling both of them were armed, himself only chosen a combat knife. Expecting his pokemon would work better than a firearm, hopefully. [break][break]

"Before we continue I do have one question. These secrets... Do we know if they are physical information or only things the deserters knew?" Aidan wanted to know this personally instead of through text since depending on the answer things could change from a simple cleanup job to a torture Easter egg hunt.[break][break]

Zev heard Aidan before he saw him, thanks to the other man's loud footfalls and greeting. The Beast gave the grunt a single nod of his head in acknowledgement.[break][break]

"You're not late," he said. "We can walk and talk. The apartment they're hiding out in is a few blocks west of here."[break][break]

Turning, he started off in that direction, his hands in his pockets. [break][break]

"Our targets were research assistants assigned to different ongoing projects on the submarine and in labs at Sootopolis. It's possible they downloaded copies of files, but they probably also have information up here."[break][break]

Zev tapped the side of his skull for emphasis.

"A few blocks should be good." Aidan would start walking besides Zev. Nothing strange to see here, just two hired killers walking 3 feet from each other.[break][break]

"Research assistants? So we can assume they aren't exactly the most courageous type. We can certainly keep one alive to see if they have any copies laying around as some kind of collateral." He wasn't exactly big on the idea of turture, it was too messy and bothersome to clean but as far as he knew he wasn't on cleaning duty, something positive to think about to lighten the burden.[break][break]

"Any information on what pokemon they carried with them?" He still didn't think the researchers themselves wouldn't be much of fighters but the playing field could become very different when pokemon got involved, he had to be mentally ready for almost anything, and that in itself was a scary thought to have in their line of work.[break][break]

Zev nodded in agreement with Aidan's deduction. He assumed they wouldn't have to resort to torture beyond threat of harm, considering the low pain threshold of most scientists. [break][break]

"They own a mix of different Pokémon—some Normal, some Psychic, some Dark, some Poison." Typical, for Team Rocket's grunts. [break][break]

After a few minutes, they reached the rundown apartment building. Like the rest of the district, it had seen better days. Many windows were reinforced with steel bars, and a generous amount of graffiti covered its outer face. [break][break]

"Second floor, room 2F," Zev said to Aidan in a low voice. Opening a Poké Ball, he released his Ariados. The spider skittered ahead as her master entered the building. [break][break]

The front lobby was small, a filthy rug spread across part of the wooden flooring. Ignoring the elevator, Zev started up the narrow, rickety stairs.
