[attr="class","itemcoltext"]You find yourself 10,000 years ago. You are unsure whether you are in Hoenn or some other region, but you do know you are on the back of a Cyclizar. A humid, lush jungle surrounds you. The heat is unbearable and the air is thick. Sweat clings to the skin like a Spidops' silk.[break][break]

Suddenly, a deafening explosion sounds behind you. A volcano has erupted. A lethal pyroclastic descends upon you and your Cyclizar, and you must race against the clock for your lives.[break][break]

Sweat drips off her, rolling down her cheek, down her back. It was a mistake wearing this heavy coat. No matter how good it looks, no fashion is worth this. [break][break]

"This thing's like... Lizzy, ain't it?"[break][break]

She pants, turning back to yell Navy's way. The man's Cyclizar is one of his most constant partners, a lizard like a motorbike, 'cept it didn't blare nearly as loud in your ears. To her that was most of the fun, but she knew how partial the man was to his dragons.[break][break]

"... Where the hell are we?"[break][break]

The girl spent most of her life in the city, but for some reason this place seems off. It's not even like most pictures of rainforests she's seen. Ayame would love it though, that's for sure. [break][break]

Navy hardly needs to speak a word. She shifts gear up, throttling full speed ahead. Trusting the simulated Cyclizar to keep up, Navy shouts back at Tsubaki.[break][break]
“Alright, Baki! We’re here now! In this crazy simulated world! Don’t really get the details, but let’s have some fun while we’re here!”[break][break]
He channels the insanity of another woman. Handling Lizzy like a madman, anyone observing will think he’s bound to run into trees. She always pivots at the last possible moment, keeping her momentum running forward. Motorcycle skills translate oddly well to this jungle.[break][break]
Now, as always, he ruminates that her wheels seem rougher in this simulated world. In times long past, it feels like a Cyclizar would need off road tires.[break][break]
“We got two options!” He bellows over the cataclysm. “Outrace the god of time, or head into a cave! Pick your poison!”

An exasperated sigh, and the Cyclizar under her responds to her spur on its side. She prefers something loud and obnoxious like a Revavroom to this, but if speed's the Gym Leader's game, she won't be outmatched. [break][break]

The Cyclizar responds to her nudges while darting between trees, used to moving through the jungle at this pace. It puts the girl at ease, just in time for the shockwave of the cataclysm to hit and start knocking trees down right on their head.[break][break]

"F-fuck, Navy, I don't know! Let's avoid the trees, why don't we!?"[break][break]

Her tongue's sharp as ever. That the man even had to ask made her question if he had his head screwed on right. Remembering how the man literally ran towards his death back on route 105, she already had her answer. [break][break]

"CAVE!!"[break][break]

The Cyclizar responds accordingly, running up and over downed trees, dodging ones that still threaten to fall. As it moves, the heat only gets worse outside. Thankfully, the wind in her hair takes to edge off ever so slightly. [break][break]

“You’re no fun. If you wanna go for a joyride, bring your Revavroom next time. Probably not what the simulation has in mind, you switching carts, but who cares! Let’s have some fun with it!” They are, after all, here for training. Some of these pathways contain deep secrets. Others are straightforward. He supposes he’ll figure out of this scenario has any secrets to share soon.[break][break]
“And for your information, Lizzy and me? High octane crazy blood. Best of the best. Nothin’ less when you’re thrown into the deep end of crazy.” Having seen as much insanity as he has in the past year, this simulation is almost refreshing.[break][break]
At least here, he knows things are going to get crazy.

[attr="class","star2tsu4"]The cool of the cave is a welcome retreat. It reminds her of the deepest parts of Granite Cave, or the air conditioned office of one freya morningstar. Both always gave her a slight chill, and it wasn't just the cold. [break][break]

"You're so OLD! Revavroom are big now, even in Slateport! The big gangs barely even use Cyclizar anymore!"[break][break]

She protests his little comment about her preferences. It ain't about speed, it's about looking cool! The way you could deck out a chassis into just about anything gave the streets lights and colors the delinquents of his era could only dream. The stuttering calls of a Cyclizar couldn't compare, either. You'd know a convoy of Revavroom was coming from blocks away, far before you ever saw it. [break][break]

"Nothin' personal, girl, you're doing a great job."[break][break]

She adds sheepishly under her breath, patting the Cyclizar she rides on as they plunge further into the cave. The pokemon snorts in disapproval, but it doesn't throw her off. That's good enough. This wasn't about her, this was about the crazed man who sees this whole simulation as a game. Weren't they supposed to be collecting data?[break][break]

... Man, when did she get so lame?[break][break]

"Well, sorry! But when it comes to crazy, you've gotta contend with me! I ain't lettin' you take the gold that easy!"[break][break]

Baki spurs her Cyclizar onward, pushing her harder. A wicked grin comes over her face as she keeps up the pressure, taking abrupt turns, drifting around corners without losing speed, like she's about to run straight into walls. She's playing chicken with the tectonic forces dreamed up by the world a million years ago. And she's winning. [break][break]

This is more her style, queen of the smuggling ring in the Saffron underground back in the good old days. Cyclizar can't run up walls or upside-down like her trusted Scolipede, but it doesn't handle half bad in truth. Out in the open she didn't really get it, but it starts to click as she races him in a confined space like this exactly why the man favors the dragon.[break][break]

As they go deeper, she takes more risks, gets more aggressive - runs up the sides of walls, aiming kicks at Navy as he tries to pass her. The girl can't manage to suppress her giggling as they race deeper into the mountain. Deeper, and deeper, with no end in sight. [break][break]

"C'mon, you gotta try harder than that!"[break][break]

“Careful, grasshopper. That’s how you end up crashing into a wall.” It’s nothing but a carefree ride through a deep, dark cavern. Lizzy is old enough to know when a sharp turn is a bad idea. Navy can sense her quiver when she’s about to speed up or slow down. Leaning low, he lets more of his body heat sink into her. She shifts gears once again, an upswitch that lets her keep up with Tsubaki.[break][break]
Tsubaki dominates the curves, a regular queen of the highway. Whenever there’s a stretch of straight cave, they catch up to her. Lizzy shrieks at the attacks from the other Cyclizar, returning the favor with a quick attack. Both dragon and tamer seem to turn into a missile, aimed right at the animal under his assistant.[break][break]
Well…[break][break]
Former assistant.[break][break]
“Feel that?!” He shouts. Something’s up ahead. This cave can’t go on forever. Everything, inevitably, ends. Only one thing is truly eternal. One thing looms above all in eternity. One thing they cannot escape – not in simulated pasts, not in dreams, not in the future. One foe that can defeat even entropy itself.[break][break]
Mankind’s enemy, bathed in a magenta light. The beating byproduct of a bygone beast looms above.[break][break]
“For fuck’s sake. It’s always him.” Navy growls, looking up at the wishing star. It is the second he has seen in these simulated realities.

The Cyclizar beneath her begins to rebel, sensing the girl's sudden lack of concentration. That lapse is enough. One moment she's racing like a devil, tearing around corners, holding her own against a dragon master. The next, she's smashing straight through a stalagmite, hurtling through the air. [break][break]

Even in the air, though, it's all she can do to marvel at the glow of the sea.[break][break]

The star pulses, sending out a ripple of violet light that bathes them all in the dynergy Navy and Baki are ever so familiar with by now. It's the heartbeat of the sea, proof that while He slumbers He is still alive and well, merely waiting. [break][break]

This cave will be His, just as Dewford shall. This world will be swallowed, just as the dreamworld Galar has been. But in this moment, the shimmering light of eternity is nevertheless...[break][break]

It is beautiful in the way a predator is beautiful. Eternatus’s beating star goads them forward. It beckons them closer, where they might bathe in His light. Eternatus offers them a poisoned chalice. There are fools, fools by the score, who will drink from it willingly when the new year dawns.[break][break]
Not Navy. Not Tsubaki. Not while he has his fists. Beneath him, Lizzy roars. She charges forward, a line of red light streaking at her side. Shuwen rises to the occasion. His fighting bear roars with urgent need, slamming a coiled fist against the wishing star.[break][break]
“ORAAAAAAAAAA!” And the light consumes them. They are held within the swaying mist. The world around them takes on a thousand different colors. Strange places pass by, figments of forgotten wheres and whens.[break][break]
They reform upon a Galarian battlefield. Before them is set a sword and a stone. He’s been here before. Above them, Eternatus looms high in the sky. A stray arrow strikes at the monster, leaving it reeling. There is a choice they need to make. An innocent choice, one that was made for them before: the sword or the shield?[break][break]
“You gotta quit calling it that, Baki. Nothin’ beautiful about Eternatus.”

Before she knows the fate of this world, driven into madness and buried underneath molten debris, she's thrown head-over-heels into another. The unknown gives way to certainty. Whatever this world is, it's driven under the dark shadow of Eternatus in full, no mere wishing star. There's only one fate for this world now that He's awakened. [break][break]

Baki lifts herself from the ground, looking up at Navy. The man scolds her like he's her father. She reacts just like his daughter.[break][break]

Dragging herself toward the weapons arrayed in front of them, she lingers on the sword for a moment. Hesitation. She's been a sword her whole life, cutting through everything, not able to get close to anyone without fear of doing it to those she cares for, too. [break][break]

“You’re stubborn.” He chides her. “So stubborn it hurts.” Eternatus turns His gaze upon them. The skeletal dragon opens its maw. There is nothing to be done now, or so he would think had he not simulated this reality before.[break][break]
Sometimes, faith is rewarded. Zamazenta’s arrival heralds their salvation. Howling, it asks for the shield. Wresting it from Tsubaki, Navy throws it at the dog like he’s making the game winning past. Closing his eyes, a supermassive cloud of dust and heat kicks up all around them.[break][break]
When the dust settles, Navy sees they are surrounded by a glowing barrier. Zamazenta has protected them from Eternatus. Zamezenta howls at them, telling them in an inhuman language to take heart.[break][break]
“You wanna fight, Baki? Well here it is: a place you can fight. Get it out of your system if you wanna. Practice. This place is just about the best simulation of a battlefield we could ever ask for.”[break][break]
Cracking his knuckles, he looks up at the legendary Pokemon.[break][break]

Zamazenta simply howls as supermassive giants lumber towards them.
