The wintry January air cut Eddie to the core as he stepped into the arena. He could try and pull the leather jacket around him a little tighter, or actually button his silk shirt up the rest of the way, but when he looked to take in the audience surrounding him, he decided against it. Nah, he's looks damn good, and that streak of pride drove the chill of the cold air away. [break][break]

But now wasn't the time to get distracted; he's got a battle to win. He regarded his opponent with a toothy grin and offered a friendly wave in greeting, [break][break]

“Hey, nice to meet ya! I'm Eddie Hisakawa,” he called boisterously, “Lookin' forward to battlin' ya!” [break][break]

The Tauros next to him lowed in agreement, shaking his head from side to side.

Stepping into the arena during the cold January air is the royal Galarian ambassador and princess of Galar clad in a dark blue coat and winter gloves. Her opponent, an older man, gives her a friendly wave and a toothy grin as he talks about having fun in their match. “A pleasure to meet you, Eddie. My name is Elise Calcifet.” While he calls in a boisterous manner, her introduction was composed, refined, and came with a curtsy of respect. Like a proper gentleowman, the Galarian princess doesn’t skip on her manners as a member of the Galarian royal family. “I am looking forward to battling you in our match today as well.”[break][break]

The female Mismagius floats by her side as yellow eyes scan the form of the black Tauros beside Eddie. Her head dips in a little bow of her own towards the Tauros since she is being respectful too.

Elise was cordial, polite, and refined. In many ways, Eddie was immediately struck by how starkly different she was from him. But that was the fun thing about tournaments like these; you got to meet all kinds of people, [break][break]

“Alright then, let's rock!” Eddie cheered. He gave the Tauros an affectionate slap on the side, the Pokemon's cue to jump into the fray. [break][break]

With the opponent being a Ghost-type Pokemon, it substantially narrowed Eddie's options for offense. Beau propelled himself forward with a rushing AQUA JET, hoping to send the Mismagius flying before she even knew what hit her. [break][break]

Her Mismagius floats in the air when Mana looks over to the black Tauros coming at her with Aqua Jet. The phantasmal Pokemon gets knocked back by the strength of the Tauros but Mana doesn’t let it stop her from coming up with her own counter. Recovering from the Tauros’ move, the Mismagius releases a blast of Psychic towards the black Tauros. Her entire body glows blue during the round of other Psychic blasts that led up from attempting to make sure the Tauros was surrounded.[break][break]

“Your Tauros does look like he is having fun.” The ambassador spoke while she had noted his Tauros’ personality being a little similar to his trainer. “My Mismagius lightens up a little when she gets into battles. I think she takes after me personality-wise.”[break][break]

The hit wasn't enough to keep the Mismagius down, and the dizzying counter of the PSYCHIC blasts have the Tauros lowing in pain and rage. Disorienting surges of eerie light wrack the Pokemon's body, and in his fury, Beau begins to buck and kick like a RAGING BULL, desperate to strike back at the ghostly opponent. While there's worrying worming it's way into his heart, Eddie found himself smiling at Elise's words, [break][break]

“My buddy loves a good fight,” he beamed. Beau may be struggling with the battle at present, but Eddie will never not be proud of the Pokemon that's stood by his side for most of his adult life, “And you two are sure puttin' him through his paces!” [break][break]

Nodding towards Eddie’s remark that she and her Mismagius both helped his Pokemon being put through the paces, the royal ambassador replied to the older man with a small laugh. “That’s good. We will continue putting your Tauros through more paces.” That buddy of his kicked up a storm with Raging Bull as the witch ghost got hit by the attack. Wailing in pain, Mana moves to the side in the air and makes an incantation in a quiet voice. [break][break]

Crackling electricity is created in the air as the Mismagius sends a Thunderbolt crashing down to the black Tauros. Mana is confident that she could keep going in going toe to toe with a black bull like his Tauros![break][break]

Eddie felt a surge of pride as Beau's attack landed and the Mismagius was sent gliding to the side with a wail. But one attack wouldn't be enough to win the battle; they were going to have to keep the pressure up if they wanted to win this, [break][break]

“Keep it up, Beau! You got 'em on the ropes!” Eddie cheered. [break][break]

It was then he heard the crackling static of the THUNDERBOLT being launched at his prized bull just as Beau began to cloak himself in a veil of water, drawing moisture from the atmosphere around them in an attempt to slam into the Mismagius with a full-body WAVE CRASH. He didn't have to be a genius to figure out that this could go very badly, [break][break]

“Watch out!” [break][break]

Eddie's stomach sank as he watched the THUNDERBOLT connect with Beau, the water veiling him evaporating as the heat of the electrical strike fizzled out the thin aquatic layer cloaking the Pokemon. In the resulting plume of steam, Eddie couldn't tell what kind of shape Beau was in, until he saw the black bull barreling out of the fog to collide with as much force as he could muster into the Mismagius, steam radiating off of his body as his AQUA CRASH finally connected. Eddie let out the breath he hadn't realized he been holding and whooped with joy. [break][break]

Though the Thunderbolt from the ghost had missed, Mana watches the black bull prepare his next attack. It appeared that the bull would be an even tougher opponent even if Mana did not see any kind of gimmicks on the Tauros himself. “I know you can do it. Energy Ball!” The ambassador calls to her ghost. They were only a little halfway through the round and both were tied for 2-2 in hit points where they needed the bit of luck to push their moves to this battle.[break][break]

With a nod from the Mismagius, she utters an incantation and fires a sphere of green energy towards the black Tauros after she gets hits by the Tauros' Wave Crash. Mana doesn’t want to give up, not when their fun was getting started now![break][break]

A problem quickly emerged when Beau threw his entire body into the AQUA CRASH meant to annihilate the Mismagius; the bull had left himself wide open for a counter attack. [break][break]

The ENERGY BALL was not only dazzlingly powerful in it's own right, but being a Grass-type move, it hit the bull with a force the Pokemon couldn't have anticipated. The force of the attack sent him flying back, tumbling and skidding across the ground, [break][break]

“Beau!” Eddie roared, fear quickly overtaking him as he watched the bull land hard on his flank. [break][break]

He lie still for a moment, and Eddie feared the worst when the Tauros didn't immediately respond to his impassioned cry. But then, with a shuddering, heaving sigh, the black bull forced himself to his feet. Beau was unsteady in his rising, but there was a fiery determination in his eye that Eddie couldn't ignore. The bull blasted back towards the Mismagius with another furious AQUA JET; it was do or die, a move that could make or break the battle. The suspense held Eddie's heart in a vice grip. The furious Aqua Jet comes from the Tauros and while Mana would not like to get herself wet a second time from the last water type attack, the ghost moves out of the Aqua Jet’s path. “Good job, Mana. We’re so close that we can feel it too.” The ambassador praises her Mismagius as red eyes from the purple ghost watch the movements of the black Tauros. Aqua Jet makes the Tauros move in a blur like he was really in it to win this match just for his trainer.[break][break]

In a span of minutes, Mana’s chest jewels glow in a bright purple color and she releases a hurling Shadow Ball, filled with the dark energies of her magic. A grin came onto the phantom witch’s mouth when she’ll try to savor a potential win for her mistress. [break][break]

Heart hammering against his ribcage, Eddie watched as the Tauros went sailing past the Mismagius. The opposing ghost was beginning to gather dark energies to launch a SHADOW BALL to counter; if he called out to Beau now, would the bull be able to dodge the attack in time?[break][break]

“Look out!” Eddie yelled, his voice carrying across the arena, “Beau, on your left!” [break][break]

The bull turned his head in time to see the attack being launched his way. He stamped his front hooves hard into the ground beneath him, quickly pivoting to launch his entire body into the Mismagius with a final AQUA CRASH. He collided with as much force as he could manage into the ghostly witch, every muscle in his body concentrated on the one task of knocking the opposing Pokemon out. Would be enough to cinch the win?[break][break]

When Beau dodged to the left of the Shadow Ball’s path, there was a frustrated hiss from the Mismagius. Though it doesn’t affect her mood since she’ll know who would be the last Pokemon left standing in this final round. “I know you can do it! Let’s try and bring this home!” The royal ambassador calls out to the ghost in a way that Elise wanted to let her partner know she still had another chance to make the shot.[break][break]

With the Tauros’ Aqua Crash coming towards the ghost, the Mismagius quickly tries to turn the battle to her favorable tide. Her whole body glows into a bright purple as Mana tries again to fire a Shadow Ball towards the charging black bull! The sphere of dark energy attempts to create the distance between the charging black Tauros and the battered and tired Mismagius.[break][break]

In an explosion of sweeping darkness and crashing waves, Beau collided with the Mismagius. The opposing Pokemon was knocked out by the force and fury of his blow, and the haggard Tauros bellowed furiously in victory. Eddie charged onto the field, wrapping his arms around the battered bull's mane in a tight embrace, [break][break]

“You did it!” Eddie cheered, the Tauros nuzzling into his arms, “You really did it, Beau! I'm so god damn proud of you!” [break][break]

Though that wasn't to say that Eddie would have been ashamed of the valiant bull should he have lost. The battle was hard fought on both sides, each Pokemon desperate to reign supreme for their respective trainer. Realizing that there was, in fact, another trainer present, Eddie let Beau out of his bear hug and extended an arm for a cordial handshake to Elise, [break][break]

“Nice match! You two fought like hell.”
