"Hold on!" Gunner shouted back. "I'll try to talk to it!" [break][break]

His grip white-knuckled around the railing of the ship, he looked skyward at the Pokémon that loomed over them. [break][break]

"Hey! I don't know what you want, but we're not here to fight you! We just want to make it to safety!" Then, after a heartbeat, he said, "I promise you, we're not the enemy! In fact, we're trying to fight them and keep them from conquering our home!" [break][break]

He didn't know if the Thundurus was aligned with that sort of justice, but something must have calmed it. The storm abated with strange rapidity and the clouds parted, revealing a night sky. Gunner was soaked to the bone, but he hardly noticed it in the wake of the relief that flooded him. [break][break]

"Let's get out of here," he said to Yuina, suddenly bone-weary. [break][break]

Hanging on for dear life now as the storm waged on around them, Yuina struggled to see through the sprays of sea water or hear over the roar of the thunder and winds. Gunner was in her sights, they were working through the storm together, but she worried that if they couldn't do something soon, they would succumb to its sheer power.[break][break]
The creature that came to them was seething in anger, there was no telling what had caused its strife, but Gunner called out to it, an attempt to ask for mercy amidst the fury of its power. They weren't the enemy, they didn't intend to be, and at Gunner's words it seemed that they had managed to ease into the Pokemon's good graces.[break][break]
The storm began to break, the waters calmed, and the howling winds vanished at the behest of the Pokemon that now believed they were at least not its enemy in that moment. All was quiet.[break][break]
"I wish we knew what was upsetting it so much... Maybe next time the simulation could let us help it," Yuina wondered as they started to head back towards the shore of the ocean.
