THE ULTRA CRATER IS A LARGE EXPANSE UNDERNEATH A YELLOW SKY. In between thick, almost impassable jungles, craters filled with green fields and alien plants lay. What appears to be metal pipe-like roots grow out the rock of crater walls. Geysers dot this alien landscape, occasionally expelling shrieking steam.[break][break]

The world is frequented by earthquakes, causing odd red monoliths of rock to quake throughout the realm. Oddly, the Ultra Thicket possesses very fertile soil. In the distance, a large mountainous expanse can be seen, though the range does not seem too high.

The next time Zev and Nenet traveled to the moon above the crater world, they found themselves just outside the boundary of an unexpected sight: a raging tempest of metal and bamboo, towering miles overhead with no end in sight. [break][break]

As Zev peered into the storm, he saw great lengths of emerald steel shearing through stone. A wild Celesteela, smaller than the usual size and caught within the whirlwind, cried out as its body was lacerated and torn. [break][break]

"We need to find shelter!" Zev shouted over the howling winds, his skin crawling with black crystal. Sharp eyes scanned their immediate surroundings, honing in on a narrow, cave-like entrance cut into the lunar landscape. [break][break]

He pointed at it, reaching for Nenet with his other hand. "Over there! That cave!" [break][break]

Despite the chaos it causes, the storm is beautiful in its own way; it's hard to focus on just one thing happening, be it the flashes of emerald steel, rending of metal, or shards of bamboo thrown around with lethal force.

They don't wait around long simply observing the maelstrom, and instead Zev finds the entrance into one of the lunar cave systems. Her hand still in his as they enter together, Nenet squints into the darkness and then pulls a Pokeball from her pack and releases a Solrock.

As the immediate surroundings brighten, she muses aloud, "I think we're stuck in here for a while." Outside a cacophony of noise ensures they will not be leaving anytime soon. "Let's look deeper inside, what do you say?"

Above them the ceiling crawls what what looks like roots, and the shadows dance in odd shapes all around them.

"We might as well," Zev agreed, nodding. He had no idea when the storm would finally abate or what the state of the surface would be once it was over. [break][break]

In silence, he followed Nenet and her Solrock through the winding, underground tunnels. At first, he paid no attention to the roots in the ceiling. [break][break]

But then until he noticed some of them moving, expanding across the rocky surface in a slow, sinuous way. [break][break]

"How are you acclimating to working with Team Rocket?" Zev asked absently, his sharp gaze watching the roots as he, Nenet, and her Pokémon passed beneath them. "Have you met the rest of the science division yet?" [break][break]

The tunnel widened into a large cavern. While the center was open and empty, stalagmites lined the perimeter. A small swarm of Kartana flitted among stalactites overheard before disappearing into the darkness. [break][break]

Nenet hums absently as she walks alongside Zev, her gaze casting from the shadows to him. "I've met a few of them, but likely not most," she admits thoughtfully. "I'm not in a rush to insert myself into anything." With a touch of mirth, she adds, "You're mainly why I'm there. It seems pointless not to be."

The cavern and the Kartana send Nenet frowning. Something on the edge of her hearing bothers her - its soft rustling paired with the dripping of water ominous.

"Solrock, go higher," she instructs while drawing to a halt.
[break][break]
The Pokemon obeys, and that's when chaos breaks lose; the vine-like roots shoot out from the ceiling above, covering the top of the cavern in a writhing mass now illuminated by Solrock. Juttering in pain as myriad seeds land on it, Solrock spins, sending light and vines spraying across the cavern.

As vines snaked out and ensnared Nenet's Solrock, Zev swore loudly and snatched a Pokéball from his belt. Bright light filled the cavern as he released his Infernape. The monkey's FIRE PUNCH scorched another tangle of vines that tried reaching for it. [break][break]

At that moment, wordless, animalistic screams filled the cave. His heart already hammering with the adrenaline in his system, Zev turned to find the source of the noise. They'd sounded familiar, like— [break][break]

"Megalopolans!" he shouted, spotting the stumbling figures as they emerged from the shadows. Large seeds covered their bodies, half-buried and rooted into their flesh. Their eyes rolled back into their heads and their mouths gnashed. [break][break]

They struck Zev as very similar to the mindless hordes of Lesser Megalopolis. [break][break]

"Stay as far away from them as you can!" he ordered Nenet. Crystal covered his body up to his jaw. A snake-like tendril of the same crystal burst from his shoulder blade to slice at a Megalopolan as it rushed at him. [break][break]

His Infernape joined the fray, unleashing devastating punches. [break][break]

Nenet's brow furrowed immediately at the odd screams filling the cave. Was it more concerning that the vines above attempting to take over her Solrock? The answer was swiftly yes - the Pokemon could be replaced but their lives could not if the newly discovered Megalopolans had their way.

More than willing to let Zev handle the heavy lifting, she instead focuses on her poor Solrock. "Come here," she calls the Pokemon; it valiantly pries itself out of the vines and dizzily floats down. It's easy to see the Leech Seeds attempting to burrow their way into the Solrock's shell.

"Flare Blitz," she murmurs to Solrock. The mini sun hesitates and then complies; the flash of light casts the shadows away for a blinding moment, and in surrounding chaos Nenet can see several tunnels that lead from the cavern.

As Solrock wobbles from its self-induced injury Nenet recalls the poor thing and instead sends out her Noivern. "We need to get out of here." Nodding firmly, Noivern jets off down one of the tunnels - presumably the way out.

"Zev," Nenet calls before pointing to the yawning mouth of the tunnel. "This way!"

The brilliant light from the Solrock's FLARE BLITZ blinded the Megalopolans momentarily, causing them to stumble and pause. It bought Zev, Nenet, and their Pokémon enough time to dash for the indicated tunnel. [break][break]

As they ran, more vines and roots snaked down from above, no longer slow but whip-like in their speed. Zev's crystals surged over his body, lashing out with scything tendrils. They sliced through the predatory vines, keeping them away away from Nenet. [break][break]

Eventually, the group burst out from underground. Long beams of emerald steel and strewn Celesteela parts littered the moon's surface in a haphazard array. [break][break]

"Infernape, close off this exit," Zev ordered, his body half-covered in his black carapace. [break][break]

His Pokémon smashed a MACH PUNCH into the ground around the tunnel's entrance, causing the rock to collapse. Faintly, Zev could hear the frustrated, animalistic cries of the Megalopolans as their pursuit halted. [break][break]

Turning away, the man scanned the distant horizon for any sign of the earlier storm. "We're fortunate the storm passed. Are you okay?" he asked Nenet, walking over to her. [break][break]

On the ground nearby, small compared to the detritus surrounding it, was a dull and inert GRASSIUM Z-CYRSTAL. [break][break]

Erupting back onto the surface of the moon, the Megalopolans hot on their trail their flight to the outside is quick, if stressful; it reminded Nenet of the time her and Naomi Sato were chased through the ship in the Ultra Sea. Something she was sure Zev didn't need the details of.

Panting softly, her hands bracing against her knees, Nenet glances behind her at the commotion as the tunnel's opening is closed and the howls of the Megalopolans fills the air.

"We've got to quit running into Megalopolans." She then assures Zev, "I'm fine. Just a bit winded."
[break][break]
Beginning to straighten back up, a glint on the moon's surface draws Nenet's attention. "What's that." Brow furrowing as she fails to place the depleted Z-Crystal by sight, she moves to pick up the small gem, a surprised, "Oh," sounds from the woman instead.

"It's a shame this is depleted."
[break][break]
With an exhale, she then says, "Let's head back for now. I'm exhausted after all of that."

"Take your time catching your breath," Zev said as he moved away to pick through the debris. In comparison, he was barely winded. [break][break]

As he tossed a large piece of steel aside, his eye caught the glint of the depleted Z-crystal as Nenet snatched it up between her fingers. Dark and dull, it reminded him of the ones strewn across the streets of Lesser Megalopolis. [break][break]

Of the black shards that fell away from the shield of Zamazenta, and from Necrozma's own body. [break][break]

But he did not move to take the Z-crystal from Nenet. Instead, he nodded and recalled his Infernape into a Pokéball. "We can use your Celesteela to ride back to…" He paused. 'Earth' felt like the wrong word. "To the crater." [break][break]

Blue eyes lingered on the crystal in Nenet's hand, waiting to see what she would do with it. [break][break]
