So this was the Giant chasm. He hadn't really been expecting it to look so much like a labyrinth. Something told him that if someone wasn't careful, someone could easily get lost in this place.

He would have to pay the utmost attention to ensure that didn't happen. Not that he usually didn't do that. Staying on guard was kind of what he was known for, after all.

Resisting the urge to sigh, he turned his attention to the woman with purple hair who he had partnered up with for this mission. Luckily, she was someone he was fairly comfortable with and could probably be considered a friend, not that he would ever admit as much out loud.

The Giant Chasm formed from the remnants of the incident that happened a month ago in the Silent Icelands was much bigger than she would’ve thought. If people weren’t careful, they could get lost due to how big the chasm was and it didn’t help that there were a lot of stronger Pokemon living there now. Fortunately, her partner for mapping out this place in a little expedition was the pink-haired young man she was acquainted with.[break][break]

“I am ready to map out this place and I’ve never imagined it would be very big.” She replies back to Ever while staying composed. As royal ambassador to Hoenn, her job would be that Elise had to look out for the Galarian people which included Ever.[break][break]

As she mentioned the size of the place, he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it is a lot bigger than expected, so stay on guard. It wouldn't be a good idea to get separated in a place like this," Ever pointed out as he pulled a thermos of coffee out of his bag and took a drink. Hopefully, it would help him keep his energy up as they mapped out the Giant Chasm because something told him it would take a while.

Since they were ready, he would start walking, his gaze constantly scanning the area around them for any possible signs of danger. He would also make note of anything that could be used as a landmark as they walked. As Ever tells her to stay on guard since the Great Chasm was large in size, she nods to his little warning. “I will make sure to stay on guard and follow you, so I don’t get lost.” Though with how big the chasm was, her Pokemon would be able to help her in the direction that she could take if the ambassador did get lost. She takes out a canteen of cold brewed coffee and drinks from it. Keeping one’s energy was important when exploring much of the chasm during the day and night.[break][break]

Noting the other ranger slowing down his stride and letting her keep up with him, the Galarian royal makes sure that she’s keeping up the pace as they walk. Everything in the chasm’s bigger area appeared to be a little quiet, something that made the feeling of unease come onto her.[break][break]

As they headed further into the chasm, his gaze continually scanned the area around them, keeping an eye out for anything that could be dangerous. Hopefully, anything dangerous could be avoided. He really didn't want to wind up endangering Elise's life down here.

Taking another sip of coffee, he glanced briefly over his shoulder to see how Elise was holding up. His upbringing had turned him into a perceptive person, and he noticed the unease immediately. Worried about fear getting the best of the purple-haired woman, he spoke.

The further that they go down into the chasm, she probably couldn’t shake off the weird roar she heard a bit earlier. If that belonged to a different Pokemon, she needed to be prepared to face it. She would take another sip of her cold brewed coffee out of the canteen while the gaze from Ever never appeared to let her out of her sight. [break][break]

He probably was worried that he’ll end up endangering her life down at the deep part of the chasm. [break][break]

“I’m doing alright, thank you for your concern.” The ambassador answers the pink-haired young man’s question about her current state. “And I will remember that. I won’t get lost as long as I stick with you.” She’ll keep walking a little close to Ever’s side, so that she’ll watch for other odd sounds. [break][break]

If she said she was doing fine, he would believe her. Well, more like he wouldn't push her to talk if she didn't want to. It wasn't like he was the best at talking about feelings. His past kind of made it so he wasn't the best at talking about his emotions or comforting people, but that didn't mean he wouldn't try the latter though.

She knew that Ever was looking out for her when they venture into the far reaches of Area Zero. He’s like this when he’s around her too, but not around people that he doesn’t know too well. “I’ll let you know if I have trouble with something.” She doesn’t want to hide whatever she’s feeling during the whole expedition since sharing one’s feelings when there’s trouble is important.[break][break]

A roar comes from somewhere where she can’t see what Pokemon it is, but that definitely sounded a little abnormal compared to the Pokemon that lived there. Her Mismagius looks over to the side where she wonders if that unknown Pokemon may have made its home in the Great Chasm.[break][break]

“Yes, my Pokemon are very battle ready. They’re prepared to go up against any Pokemon we face.” Elise would answer Ever’s question since she did have them for protection when she needed them to be near her. [break][break]

To his relief, she agreed to tell him if she was having trouble. While it was true that he was a perceptive individual, he wasn't a mind reader. So he would probably be able to tell something was wrong before she told him, but that didn't mean he would know what was wrong. He was good at reading people, but he wasn't quite that good.

Not saying anything, he only nodded. There wasn't much need to continue that line of conversation. As long as it was agreed that she would let him know if she was having trouble with something, well... that was good enough for him.

Continuing through the chasm, he inquired about the battle readiness of her Pokémon upon hearing the roar. "That's good. While it's possible a battle won't happen while we're down here, I'd rather be safe than sorry," he told her, thinking over his own Pokémon. All of her Pokemon were trained for battle in case they had to intercept threats. Her elder cousin had been wanted by Rocket for betraying their organization, but she was not the one they were after. “I will keep my eyes peeled if we get into a battle with any of the wild Pokemon here.” The royal responds to her companion while she’ll follow the young man a little further into the chasm. [break][break]

Before they could go further, two wild Solrock stop the explorers in their tracks with a Stone Edge thrown at them.[break][break]

Her Mismagius’ eyes glow blue as she stops the Stone Edge from reaching the two and the pointed rocks fall to the ground. She launches a Shadow Ball at the first one which causes the Solrock to shut its half-lidded eyes from the pain. [break][break]

That was all he could ask for, so he simply nodded as they continued. Almost as if talking about it had summoned them, two Solrock stepped into their path. Without saying anything, he eyed the two Solrock before releasing Rook from his Pokéball just as Elise’s Mismagius stopped the Stone Edge from hitting them.

Making a note to thank the Mismagius later, he directed Rook to attack the Solrock Elise’s Pokémon hadn’t attacked by simply pointing at it. He didn’t give it an order, trusting him to know what to do. That, and he didn’t really like ordering his Pokémon to attack other Pokémon, even if it had to be done.

Rook knew this, so he didn’t waste any time slamming into the Solrock with a powerful Steel Wing, hoping that if he made it quick, Ever wouldn’t feel so bad. Even if all they were doing was knocking the Pokémon out.[break] Elise Calcifet

With his Corviknight’s help, the large metal bird’s Steel Wing knock one of the Solrock out. Her Mismagius shoots out one Shadow Ball after another towards the Solrock that was still floating and her ghostly assault of attacks knock out the other one too. If there were other hostile Pokemon around the Great Chasm, maybe it would be better to gather some data and get back to the base camp. The Solrock appeared to be stronger than any of the Pokemon she faced in battle at other areas.[break][break]

“We should get back to camp.” She’ll nod to the pink-haired young man while her Mismagius looks over to the two fainted Solrock. The ambassador ends up typing down the data into her smartphone’s notes. “I’ll speak to the other league explorers about our report and giving the data that I gathered here too.” [break][break]

Maybe it wasn’t better to press on with the amount of stronger Pokemon that could give them some trouble, she thought. The league could do with their report anyway as when they would get back, she gives the report and the data she collected. [break][break]
