[attr="class","aurelie_body"]Though the Ultra Deep Sea felt in some ways just as distant as dream-Galar—if not more so—to Aurelie, the red-haired smith nodded somberly at Zev's reminder of the vast, cave-like world actually being the body of Eternatus. She'd never visited that particular realm, but the fact that Eternatus could infect Hoenn from another plane entirely was certainly an illustration of its godlike power.

Still, she couldn't help replying sharply to Zev's dismissal of dream-Galar. "The reason why I think it's relevant is because this Calyrex came from that...well, that 'mass hallucination,' as you call it. Both it and Eternatus were in that world.

"And if Calyrex hadn't been killed by a crazed League trainer, I have every reason to suspect it would've considered Eternatus its enemy." Here, her words faltered, as if she were groping for a distant memory she only half-recalled. "In fact, I seem to remember Eternatus infected Calyrex with deadly poison that was slowly driving it mad. Familiar, right?"

Aurelie crossed her arms and shrugged, a thoughtful frown creasing her brow. "So, I think that's the relevance of the dream, or hallucination, or whatever you want to call it.

"Eternatus isn't just our enemy or Hoenn's enemy. It's also Calyrex's enemy," she concluded. "So, it makes sense that Calyrex would warn us about Eternatus and prepare to fight against it."

The mere prospect made chills ripple across her body. The red-haired smith swallowed hard and looked up at Zev, suddenly taking a strange comfort in his aloof face and cold eyes. "If we're right and it is Eternatus... We're strong enough to withstand it, right?" she asked.

"Since we have Legendary Pokemon of our own as allies, or at least partners of a sort. Like Necrozma. Or Chien-Pao. Or the Galarian Moltres." Aurelie felt foolish for asking for reassurance, especially from Zev of all people, even as she did it. "Surely, even if their sole desire isn't just to survive, they would still be willing to fight to survive if threatened."

Zev listened to Aurelie's perspective without revealing any thoughts of his own, neither through interjections nor changes in his expression. She seemed stubbornly insistent about the mass hallucination that she and others had witnessed. [break][break]

And from his experience, it behooved him to let people believe what they wanted to believe. [break][break]

So instead, when her confidence wavered and she looked up at him for reassurance, he offered his opinion. Whether she found comfort in it or not was for her to decide. [break][break]

"They will resist Eternatus for their own selfish reasons, just like any Pokémon of their caliber." A callback to his earlier comments. "You can count on us, at least, to hunt it down like prey." [break][break]

Zev meant himself and Necrozma, of course, though it did not occur to the man how vague he sounded in that moment.

[attr="class","aurelie_body"]Weird and confusing as it was to look to Zev for reassurance, it felt even weirder to actually find reassurance in his impassive, inflectionless words. She'd read a story once about explorers caught in a brutal winter storm in the Crown Tundra who burrowed into the snow to stay warm. If the winter storm was the prospect of battling Eternatus, then Zev was the snow: cold, yet somehow comforting.

A word Aurelie never thought she'd apply to the assassin for hire, Rocket Beast, and Necrozma avatar. Maybe "protective" was a more accurate term. Or "less actively dangerous to her".

"Well, that should help," she conceded, nodding thoughtfully. "I know you played a big role against that Kyurem in the Silent Icelands. Impossible to miss that laser beam you shot, even from the other side of the battlefield."

The redhead's glance strayed toward her prized power hammer in the corner, only a few feet away from where Zev was standing. Idly, she wondered if she dared ask him to manifest his crystal armor and place his arm on the power hammer's anvil, so she could see if she could chip off some pieces. Hmph, it'd probably be easier to convince him to take off his pants, she grumbled internally.

"If that battle on the Silent Icelands taught us anything, I suppose it's that there's still some power in numbers too," Aurelie added, pulling her focus back toward Zev. "Between the sheer number of trainers and the number of wild Paradox Pokemon.

"So, I'm happy to do my part to make sure the numbers on our side are a little better armed than they would be otherwise. And if something opens up and I have the capacity to take on more of your order, I can let you know." Aurelie folded her arms and lifted her chin to meet Zev's gaze. "Was there anything else you needed?"

Treacherously, her eye strayed to the power drill on his other side. She had just gotten a new shipment of diamond-tipped bits. Would they put even a dent in his armor? Dared she ask?

Aurelie seemed reassured, somehow, and confidence among the lower ranks was important for Team Rocket's continued success. Zev shook his head at her question. Though her answers hadn't been sufficient, he believed she'd been honest with him. [break][break]

"No, that's all. Let me know when the order's complete," he said, turning to leave. [break][break]

The air around him and his Zoroark shimmered. By the time the pair reached the door to leave Aurelie's workshop, the earlier illusion that had disguised them had returned. [break][break]

He left the shop the same way he entered, leaving no indication that the known terrorist Zev Harcourt had visited that day.
