Josh didn't trade Pokémon too often; he preferred to raise his Pyroar from eggs or from the wild. Such was the curse of having a large menagerie; those who have a lot are difficult to trade with by virtue of having most of what they want already. Even so, he was certain the duo would eventually work out a deal. "I'll even give you a hint of what I want. If it can wear a saddle, I'd love to have it!" Or evolved into a Pokémon that could wear one. Though he had many of them, extras wouldn't hurt; ones that were well-trained would make good loaner Pokémon for students.

At Thea's command, Janus began to canter and eventually gallop, the psychic-type's back bouncing his guest up and down. "Whoo-hoo!" Josh cried, Blinky matching the Espeon's speed, even raising his visor so the wind would blow in his face and even flow through his hair. The pace they were traveling at was far from a blur, but it was also much faster than hoofing it. The gentle upward grade was easy on both of them, as well, though it would certainly be noticeable when they turned back and went down the hill. "It's sad there aren't many psychic-types that can fly with a rider. Unless you want to sit between the wings of a Swoobat, and a big one at that..." he trailed off as a Wobbuffet cried toward the passing Eeveelutions with a dumbfounded expression on its face.

Though Thea's intent was to tease, she was right; Josh would rein up any Pokémon big enough, strong enough, and fast enough. "That's not far from the truth! The one Pokémon I'd love to track down that I haven't yet is a Ninjask large enough to wear one. Imagine how fast you'd go!" They had some of the most powerful wings among bugs, capable of not only generating large thrusts, but they could deaden or even reverse their momentum in a split second. Ninjask may well have been the most agile Pokémon in the world. They were also maddeningly challenging to raise, often feeling like they were training their trainer rather than the other way around.

Josh smiled at how quickly Thea was adapting to the Espeon's gait, as well as trusting the psychic-type to hold her in place. "You would be surprised!" he asked. "It's not quite that ratio. Swoobat are bigger than you think." He knew full well, what with all his trips into Granite Cave when harvesting DYNITE ORE for the League.

"Yup," Josh chirped, starting to daydream about flying on one. Most Pokémon that could use Double Team only managed to go fast enough to make one to three illusory copies, limiting the move's usefulness. Ninjask were so fast that their Double Team made dozens of copies. "I dunno if I could handle the vibration though." Even in idle flight, their wings beat so fast that their entire bodies thrummed. "If you've flown on a Flygon before, you might have an idea."

Though Thea seemingly didn't know quite as much about the kinds of Pokémon Josh raised, she was a quick study. "Maybe I can introduce you to Flowen if we were to go hunting Pokémon at night," Josh offered. "He's a Crobat I've raised since before coming to Hoenn. Big boy, and he's fast."

Flying was much more difficult than controlling a Pokémon on the ground. "If you ever want flying lessons, or you want to practice with a specific species of Pokémon I have, feel free to drop by Mauville Gym," the kind Champion offered. "Might not be a bad idea to go to a part of Hoenn where flying Pokémon gather. If you're feeling really adventurous, the Sky Pillar would be a great place. There's truly nothing like riding a flying dragon." Dragon-types were challenging and demanding to raise, but their speed and strength as steeds were extraordinary. "A Dragonite could take you anywhere in Hoenn in minutes."

Thea's interest in Flowen surprised Josh; the giant, four-winged bat was a difficult mount to control. While they had extreme speed, their four wings made it difficult to stop, riders often having to circle around their landing zones many times to shed enough speed to safely land. "Crobat are nocturnal; their bodies are prone to bleach and burn when exposed to harsh sunlight. If you're so excited to meet him, maybe we can arrange for a trip to the Sky Pillar after dark. That way, you can get the best of both worlds!"
