They were back at it again, thrown into the primal rifts as if they were expendable. This time, however, Roy and Noel had a purpose. Noel was given the task to investigate the recent opening of a portal and Roy's cousin coerced him into following along. Their previous encounters with this place had left a mark, and the adventurous spirit inherited from Roy's father drove him to seek more than just a single book. He craved a prize worth bringing back.

"Need any help?" Roy offered, climbing through the debris of another destroyed structure. Balmung, his charizard, acted as their guiding light in the darkness. The glow from Balmung's tail illuminated the entire block, reflecting off the crystalline structures protruding from the floor.

Finding proper footing, Roy extended a hand to Noel, though he knew the seasoned ranger might not need it. Still, Roy offered his help. Balmung stood firmly on the debris behind them, ready to assist if anything went wrong. The eerie silence of empty city hung in the air as they pressed on in their investigation.

Once more are the duo thrust into danger, into a familiar sight that the two would no doubt see even more in the future. Truth be told, Noel had wanted to return here ever since their first expedition. The thrill of adventure was too enticing for the aspiring trainer, who knows what they would encounter this time. When the League were gathering volunteers for this expedition, Noel was the first to step forward.[break][break]

Accompanied by his trusted ally, they'd venture once more into the Ultra City. Roy is the first to explore this other world, having gone through the streets of this seemingly abandoned city with wreckage littered all around. Noel smiles as he takes his offer, taking his hand to hoist himself up through the rubble.[break][break]

"Thanks." He says after landing on the other side. "What do you think we'll find out here? They didn't really specify what it is we're supposed to be doing but... maybe that's on purpose."[break][break]

All was too quiet in this dreary land. Where before they had to contend against Megalopolan zombies that craved for their end, this seemed to be an even deeper area of the city than they last were in, anything could be lying in wait for the pair.

In truth, Roy sought something tangible to bring home, a trophy for his wall or an artifact to sell to the local museum. Whatever the League wanted was further down his list of priorities. Though he respected Noel and his cousin, something about the League left a bitter taste. His draconid heritage made him wary of the power this place held and the dangers if it fell into the wrong hands.

"It could be on purpose. Just think about everything that's happened so far," Roy mused, his words targeting the recent event in the Hoenn region. The toll of their time in the prison fueled his interest in the primal rifts. "I just want something useful."

As they navigated through the debris, Roy spotted a pack of miniature humanoid pokemon peering from the corner of a nearby structure. They resembled mime jr, but their usual pink and blue hues were distorted and darkened, as if this realm had radically changed them. Leading the way with Balmung, Roy suddenly collided with an invisible barrier.

"What the hell?!" Roy exclaimed, reaching for his nose. Balmung's reaction mirrored his own. In the distance, the pack of clown-like pokemon snickered at their distress, adding an eerie sense of mockery to the scene.

Noel places a hand on the invisible wall, banging on the barrier as if that would be enough to break through. He lets out a sigh as he looks towards Roy.[break][break]

"Looks like there's no getting through until we deal with whatever those things are. Maybe if we put our Pokemon together we can..."[break][break]

His words trail off as out of the corner of his eyes, something from behind them crawls along the ground. A creature that worms its way towards them, in an unnatural fashion. Its head pops out from its body and rolls, landing right before Noel and Roy. At first, nothing occurs, but suddenly, it flashes red every so often, accompanied with a beeping noise. Faster and faster does it repeat this process, and when Noel finally realizes what is going on, he grabs onto Roy's sleeve.[break][break]

"Watch out!"[break][break]

The bomb goes off, a loud explosion of marvelous colors blow the two away, the two of them being knocked back into the invisible barrier that blocked them previously. This couldn't have been a mere coincidence, they were trapped now with this monster. In a daze, Noel slowly regains his senses and gets back up to his feet, looking down to Roy and offering a hand to raise him back up should he accept.[break][break]

"Ugh... Are you ok?... Looks like we're getting a warm welcome already."

Everything happened so fast. As Roy and Balmung tried to unravel the mysteries behind the barrier, a ticking time bomb began its countdown behind them. Roy attempted to command his dragon, but it was too late. The explosion rocketed them into the invisible barrier, and debris and smoke filled the area.

"Yeah, looks like it," Roy replied, accepting Noel's hand. "Thanks."

Once on his feet, Roy took a moment to dust off his pants with the backs of his palms. As the debris began to settle, they saw a Blacephalon scuttle off without its head, bumping into the remnants of various structures. Just as Roy was about to order Balmung to follow, three more slithering clowns arrived, climbing over the debris. Attracted to any kind of explosive like cutiefly to pollen, these clowns sought to compare it to their own.

Like the single blacephalon before them, the trio of ultra beast removed their heads, and the lights covering them began to flash. With the bombs primed, and the clowns started throwing their craniums like grenades.

"Balmung," Roy barked, but the Charizard was already in motion. The dragon grabbed Roy's collar as if it were a leash, and Roy latched onto Noel in the same fashion. In one swift motion, Balmung launched them into the air, his wings straining under their weight. Exhausted from the effort, Balmung couldn't carry them far, and they landed in the remains of a former skyscraper as the bombs exploded. The Blacephalon stumbled around, trying to find their heads like some sort of comedy sketch.

"Dammit," Roy muttered, pulling himself off the ground and rubbing the back of his head.

Noel and Roy are thrust up into the air, sounds of endless explosions echoing out from down behind them as they soar through the sky. If they had stayed behind, there was no doubt that would've been the end to their story. As they glide along the darkened horizon, Noel could see buildings, taller than he could have ever imagined, all around him. He wondered if this city would remain lost forever.[break][break]

Crash-landing into the tall remnant of a building, the blue-haired trainer tumbles into the floor along with his companion. Pained groans escape his lips as he slowly stands back up, using a nearby wall as a crutch to hoist himself up.[break][break]

"Ugh... Are you ok Roy? How's your Charizard doing too?"[break][break]

After checking up on his companion, he gets the chance to take a look around him. Whatever this room was used for before, now it was nothing but a pile of junk strewn out from one end to the next. Noel swipes away at the wreckage, pulling away bits and pieces until at last, a discovery is made.[break][break]

"Hey... Look at this. Seems we can move on this way. Whenever you're ready.[break][break]

A door. Based on their encounter with the Ultra Beasts from earlier, this area was much more hostile with its inhabitants more cunning than the last. They'd have to prepare themselves for what may come next.

"We're good," Roy replied, glancing at the hand he had pulled away from his scalp. "Just a little banged up."

Once he was sure Noel was alright, Roy surveyed their surroundings. The room they had landed in was a chaotic mess, with debris scattered from one end to the other. As Noel sifted through the wreckage, Roy kept a vigilant eye out for any lurking threats. The Blacephalon seemed to have disappeared, likely off to trouble more unsuspecting victims.

Before Roy could finish his examination, Noel called out to him, revealing a peculiar door. Roy nodded, feeling the weight of their recent encounter with the megalopolans and the ultra beasts This area was far more hostile, and they needed to be ready for whatever came next. He glanced at Balmung, who snorted a puff of smoke in response.

"Let's do this," Roy said, steeling himself. With Balmung at his side and Noel leading the way, they moved cautiously toward the door, ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

Noel steps through, and is immediately beset with a terrible sight. A multitude of Blacephalons, all standing around in one room, their heads blipping with various lights as if communicating with one another. Whether this was their nesting ground or their next hunting spot, the pair unfortunately draw their attention. Their rhythmic beeping grows louder and louder as their heads turn red.[break][break]

"Oh no..."[break][break]

Every single one of them detach their heads and throw them across the room towards the door. Thankfully, Noel's Braixen pops out from its ball and sets up a Light Screen to deflect almost all the oncoming damage. However the walls beside them are blown to pieces, creating an even bigger opening for them to come through.[break][break]

"Looks like we're not out of it yet. Strike them fast Roy and I'll provide backup!"

Roy's eyes widened at the sight of the room filled with blacephalons, their heads flickering with various lights. The rhythmic beeping grew louder, sending a wave of fear through the duo. Noel's braixen quickly set up a defense, providing Balmung the perfect window to attack.

"Balmung," Roy ordered with the same commanding tone as before.

Balmung roared and lunged toward the blacephalons. Even without their heads, they remained a threat. Balmung launched a Close Combat at the nearest one, but it slithered around and dodged the attacks with ease. Frustration surged through Roy as he watched the ultra beast evade every blow due to its type-advantage.

"Dragon Hammer!" Roy commanded.

With a fierce roar, Balmung's tail glowed with draconic energy, and he swung it down with tremendous force. The impact was devastating, taking out one of the blacephalons and sending a shockwave through the room.

"Hell yeah!" Roy shouted, his confidence renewed. "Let's keep pushing forward. Noel, we're counting on you for support!"

Noel's Braixen keeps up with the magical barrier. Explosion after explosion try to break through their defensive wall, but still it remains. While Roy was able to take down one of the Blacephalon, more remained. Alone they posed no problem, but if they continued on with their fireworks display, the whole building may come down on them all.[break][break]

They take a moment to regenerate their heads after continued battering against the Light Screen. In this brief respite Noel shouts a command to his Pokemon.[break][break]

"Surround them Braixen! Trap them with your fire!"[break][break]

With a wave of its wand, a massive inferno fires out from its tip, reaching the ground and then splitting into two different waves of flame. They would encircle the room ahead, confining the Ultra Beasts in a Burning Jealousy of which there was no escape from.[break][break]

"All right Roy! Finish them off while they're stuck!"

Roy's eyes flickered with determination as Noel's Braixen surrounded the clowns with a ring of fire. This was their chance to end this. His gaze swept the landscape, and he quickly found the perfect window of opportunity.

"Power up!" Roy shouted.

Balmung roared in response, slamming his claws against his chest and channeling his energy into raw strength. His muscles bulged with newfound power, and his eyes glowed with the same intensity as Roy's.

"Now, Outrage!"

With a thunderous roar, Balmung charged toward the trapped blacephalons. His body erupted into a blue flame as he unleashed a relentless barrage of powerful blows. Each strike sent dust and debris into the air, some of which mingled with the ongoing inferno.

Roy watched with a fierce grin as Balmung's attack decimated their enemies, quickly turning the tide of battle. With the blacephalons falling one by one under Balmung's assault, Roy felt a surge of adrenaline.

"We've got this, Noel! Let's finish them off!"
