[break][break] It was the first word that rang in his - in their - mind, stronger than the FEAR that thudded through Elisabeth Fiorelli's heart, or the PRIDE that glimmered behind eyes of burning amber.

[break][break] HOW FOOLISH she was to place her pride before their shared goal, how foolish and enviable it was for the COVETED to think that there was such choices in the first place. But it was not Jayden's plight, nor Elisabeth's, nor anyone else to right that wrong for her.

[break][break] No, destiny would do that for them all.

Before the Cursed could voice his thoughts into the frigid air that surrounded them all, there was a sudden CRASH that careened through the walls of that forbidden chamber that they had all collected in. It was as if Elisabeth Fiorelli's fear of death had brought it all to fruition, as if the mere thought of that silent fear was all that needed for something so blasphemous to shake the walls of their reckoning.

[break][break] Whatever dissonance that existed between them evaporated into thin air at their shared opposition. Both his sisters chose to stay back, hesitating in the absence of that unsurmountable FEAR that flooded through the room as a result of the presence that had shown them that frightful truth.

[break][break] Thorny vines whipped outwards to ABSORB the energy from the golem-like beast, just as PENELOPE LIVY's finger-tips glowed with new, poisoned power. A blackened HYPERBEAM crackled through the air, just as Jayden leaped into the air.

[break][break] Fear resonated through them all. For PENELOPE LIVY, the fear of collaboration, of the loss of her pride. For Elisabeth Fiorelli, the fear of DEATH that had always threatened her very livelihood.

[break][break] But jayden cross had lived with such paralyzing fear - had lived under a demon's control - and so as he heard the crack of his sister's rotting BEAM shatter against stone, he attempted to land onto that jagged form, reaching for the rocky fists that closed around his cousin's cracked bowl.

[break][break] If only he was easier to hate, if only he was aimless and without purpose, as howard slayte had once declared.

[break][break] "LET'S DANCE TOGETHER, YOU AND I," Jayden growled, eyes like crystal ice fixed on the goliath that dared to try and steal their shining star.

[break][break] With purpose, blackened shrapnel rippled down his arms and shot out from his hands, crushing through whatever remained, just as the poisonous mochi had once flooded through his very veins.

🧊 Jayden now possesses the power to control DEMONIC BLACK ICE imbued with malignant properties. This ice inflicts unbearable pain upon contact, driving its victims into a state of confusion and rage while temporarily amplifying their strength. When applied to his own body, due to his unique bond with Chien Pao, Jayden can heal otherwise fatal wounds. As armor, it provides a full-body defense that grants him temporary invulnerability. However, this is an immense strain on his body, eroding his energy and mental state, leaving him in need of significant recovery afterward.

THE REGIROCK EMITS A SERIES OF CRIES like a dusty xylophone's keys crashing through a Plinko board.[break][break]

A GIGA DRAIN from Elisabeth Fiorelli's WO-CHIEN weakens the restrained Rock Giant enough to force one of its limbs away from the star. At its tip, a beam begins to form, but it is to no avail. The HYPER BEAM is stolen by PENELOPE LIVY and immediately returned to sender.[break][break]

The whole cave quakes as the REGIROCK stumbles back. Its other limb remains glued to the WISHING STAR in TING-LU's BOWL, but jayden cross's BLACK ICE is enough to finally tear the Titan away.[break][break]

A portion of its "hands" crumble away. Though they were entirely made out of stone, they seem to "rot" from the contact made with the WISHING STAR: a consequence of fear's corruption. That same fear now courses through the REGIROCK's ancient layers and reprograms its route.[break][break]

It stomps away in ⠋⠑⠁⠗.[break][break]

Eventually, it will make its way to PETALBURG...

The TING-LU bellows and settles its old belly onto the floor. Its bowl looks like a cauldron... and so, it will act as one too...[break][break]

The earth beneath the three has been disturbed from their sudden fight. Small streaks of indigo can be seen and the occasional flash of light.

All the earth shook with Regirock's frustration at this unplanned defeat before the Ruinous quartet.[break][break]

Elisabeth watched the titan depart, unaware that those rotting hands of stone would soon see fit to dig an early grave for her--ripping her from the living into the land of the dead.[break][break]

Petalburg was both far away and all too near. Fate would tie her to that titan again, and tangle her destiny with that of howard slayte in a way neither could possibly imagine.[break][break]

For now, she remained entangled with the fate of two other souls.[break][break]

"We've changed," she murmured in disbelief, not yet understanding how true that transformation would prove to be. She turned her hands over, as if expecting to find some clue as to how or why. "Haven't we? What happened just now, that wasn't..."[break][break]

Streaks of indigo dazzled up through the cracks in the ground, drawing her attention to the floor. Ting-Lu's bowl glimmered enticingly, reflecting shades of blue that shone up like the flare of a caldera's rim.[break][break]

"Do you think it wants something from us?" she whispered, a hand tentatively reaching towards the bowl again, only to draw back out of residual FEAR.

[break][break] LOATHSOME ice descends in the form of jagged black crystals, their cold touch searing as it touches the air and the golem that dares descend upon their cousin.

[break][break] Jayden leaps back onto the floor, startled by the PAIN that suddenly surges through pale skin. Yet alongside that familiar agony is a surge of POWER that is unmistakable, ignited in his blood.

[break][break] But world is too suffocating, too dark, to question it. He watches as the REGIROCK stumbles away, its body breaking apart like a rotting corpse, with chunks of its "hands" crashing onto the stone floor.

[break] What is left is a dazzling display. Indigo streaks that line the floor like the CRACKS in illeana reyes's broken plane, light splashing across concrete.

[break][break] "We have," he affirms, staring at his palms. They are blackened, as though with ash, and yet somehow - somewhere - a FEAR pulses beneath his very fingertips. Yet a healthy fear. A reminder that he is - that they are - still alive.

[break][break] To Elisabeth Fiorelli's question, he shakes his head. She must be thinking of REGIROCK.

[break][break] "Of course it does," he growls, the words like gravel in his throat. His blue eyes pulse vividly in the dark, still drunk on the power that was bestowed onto him. "But we will not let it."

[break][break] "We will destroy all that dares to get in our way."

[break][break] As different as they are - as fractured as they are - surely, they can agree on that.

[break][break] His eyes flicker to PENELOPE LIVY, their problematic sibling, looking for the wisps of violet light that he was so sure to have seen.

This power. It sizzled beneath her skin. Bubbles stirring in a cauldron, it echoed the churning she felt. Was this a gift from Chi-yu, or this unearthed monstrosity? It shouldn't matter - both answers offered the same conclusion of strength, and yet she itched to know.

Regirock was a proper distraction to the buzzing questions. Even when crippled, its size warranted the groaning of the cavern, every step sending out a tremble; one that drew the coveted forward, her body reacting to its presence. Her hand flexed. Before she could conjure another HYPER BEAM, however, the beast redirected its approach, returning back to its tunnel and leaving behind only its shadow.

No, they've grown. Like a child pushing up from its slow crawl, it was their turn to walk.

The DRK Triad is surely bewildered. What was once a well-studied schema for the universe has now been scrambled and added to. A pastiche of paints and items thrown at a canvas in frantic fashion, pulled from other works, other worlds. There is no predictability to its strokes, the storyteller improvises and pulls conjunctions from the crowd.[break][break]

Ruination will permanently disrupt preordination—for better or for worse.[break][break]

When PENELOPE LIVY casts her hand into the bowl, some mysterious ether falls from her palm. The same is siphoned from Elisabeth Fiorelli and jayden cross, for they share the same experience, the same memory now circulating with the colours of their consciousness. In the bowl, the energy coalesces into a shallow pool of blood-like liquid.[break][break]

TING-LU and the bowl dips ever so slightly. For now, their duty of the day is complete. The Vessel of Fear bellows, announcing to all that IT WILL REMAIN HERE until their return. And they must return. Like freya morningstar and declan walsh in Sootopolis' Cave of Origin, these Ruinous Three are bound to ruinous labours. When an experience combines their envy, grudges, or hatred with the elements of this world, they will feel the need to dispense the memory into TING-LU'S BOWL.[break][break]

Once the bowl is filled entirely, TING-LU'S BOWL will be heavy enough to crack the earth to unleash what shines beneath.

TERRAFORM AREA ZERO

PENELOPE, ELISABETH, AND JAYDEN MUST UNDERGO LABOURS to summon Ruination. To complete these labours, they must COMPLETE A THREAD SET AFTER "ONTOGENETIC PARADE" (PREFERABLY NEW THREADS TOO) that directly reflect/involve/symbolize one of the eighteen types of the Pokemon world and their ENVY, GRUDGES, HATRED. "Ontogenetic Parade" has already fulfilled one type: ROCK.[break][break]

Every character does not need to complete eighteen threads. Only one thread is needed for each type. However, multiple threads can be submitted for each type if desired.[break][break]

TO SUBMIT A THREAD, write a small post (can be a two-liner) here, and link the thread somewhere within the post. Your characters do not need to arrive together. They can come independently.[break][break]
