Far from the main wreckage site, a drilling rig had fallen victim to a Gyarados attack. And not just one, either. A lot of them. A chemical spill had forced many of the Magikarp in the area to evolve before they were ready to, and the resulting water serpents were quite cranky. Several of the tough water Pokémon had snapped two supports for the rig, causing it to begin tilting. Whether by water or by air, all the workers aboard the rig needed to be ferried to safety.

Josh was quickly on the scene, Buzz the Floatzel sounding like a revving speedboat from how fast his twin tails cut through the water behind him. His goal would not be to assist with the cleanup; that would have to be handled by a different team. The situation was so life-threatening that the League had not only dispatched one of their Champions to the sinking structure, but one of their Avatars, as well...

When the Gyarados notices their presence, however, the two are forced to make evasive maneuvers as a HYPER BEAM sweeps across the sea. SIMMET, in the meantime, casts an AQUA RING around herself before attempting to draw the powerful beam away from everyone.[BREAK][BREAK]

Remiel was right. Pacifidlog was dangerously close to the rig, and this many Gyarados could easily overwhelm the island settlement. "On it! I'll see if I can lure some of them away with some fancy maneuvers. A Master of Faster special!" Josh replied, Buzz's AQUA JET putting on enough of a burst of speed to swim beneath the murder-beam that was the Gyarados' strongest attack.

Inflating his floatation sac to maximum pressure, Josh grabbed tightly onto the Floatzel's fur as he flipped his tails out of the water. They whirred like a fan, blowing quite the column of air toward three of the serpentine wilds. While the vibrations weren't as numbing as King Zing's, Josh could feel his skin tingling while his mount's tails looked like a solid, orange cone from how fast they spun.

As several of the water-types swam toward him, charging with the force of a WATERFALL, Buzz dipped his tails back in the water and zipped off just as loudly as Remiel's jetski.

After the GYARADOS has exhausted itself with its blast, it finds itself distracted by the aerial acrobatics of Josh Devlin and his FLOATZEL. Simmet swoops in past it just then, delivering a swift MOONBLAST as she passes by. The sea serpent groans as it falls over, creating a large splash and subsequent wave that Remiel rides over.[BREAK][BREAK]

"Nice going. I'm headed to go aid the workers now."

Though, if he remembered correctly, GYARADOS were known to rampage in small groups. Nevertheless, the AVATAR is sure to keep a watchful eye as he revs up his vehicle and shoots for the rig. His Phione, in the meantime, is quick to regroup with him with a cheerful cry after besting the larger opponent.[break][break]

With Remiel responsible for the rescue, that left Josh with keeping the Gyarados at bay. Having the storm of them on his tail, he needed to get away from them, or he was going to wind up a victim, too. The Gym Leader let go of his speeding Floatzel, clicking open a Poké Ball containing Ulysses, his Dewgong, The ice-type submerged to scoop Josh onto his saddle.

Switching targets, the Gyarados gave chase... only to be caught up in a WHIRLPOOL churned by Buzz's noisy tails. The sea weasel's massive size multiplied the swirling current's strength, making it a struggle for even the large, blue serpents to escape. He radioed Remiel Calcifet back with an update, perhaps muffled by the droning sound. "Excellent. Stay away from the northwest side - I've got a whirlpool trapping the Gyarados. They'll all be in Poké Balls soon enough."
