It didn't matter how he'd felt about it. Sootopolis was a shared city, now. Though he might've one day hoped for the League to reclaim this place... He had never quite imagined it like this, and with him still on the wrong side. It's a troubling turnabout.[break][break]

It's easier to sleep it off. A tangle of hair rests against the arm of a couch, while Adrian himself retreats into a fetal defense curl, the rather plain sweats and hoodie making him hard to distinguish. The hum of his phone startles him, rousing his attention as he shifts upright...[break][break]

It's a message from Rowan Wrynn; it turns out to be a MEME when it loads, and Adrian is able to manage a faint chortle despite himself...[break][break]

Another day has come and like most mornings he spends some time with Theo, trying to catch up on things he is out of the loop of before he is left to his own devices and own 'choice' to actually leave the room he was given to explore, the whole routine had almost become a morning ritual. An option he wasn't too sure about given what had happened the other day but he made a new friend with Rowan Wrynn so maybe leaving the room wasn't terrible? Least this time he actually makes sure to keep the Toxic Chain Bulbasuar at his side as he ask him where to go to read the book he was given. [break][break]

He inspects the break room and there are some people in it, several of them give him weird looks and he makes sure to avoid them. He doesn't need another incident; eventually it leads him to the seat next to the couch with the random guy just seeming to sleep there. He looks to the bulbasuar as if to ask him if this were normal behavior and it just shrugs as it jumps up onto the arm rest of the chair with him. [break][break]

"Umm isn't there rooms you can sleep in?" Raziel can't help but ask when he notices the other is actually awake.

Adrian gives a bit of a start—most people left him well alone, and he'd been able to drift off for once since they'd made 'peace'. It was ruined now, though. Might as well see who'd come calling...[break][break]

"M' not bothering anyone," he begins defensively—with a hint of annoyance.[break][break]

His brow shoots up when he recognizes them. Rubbing at his eyes in disbelief, a second glance only confirms such a strange SURPRISE.[break][break]

"Oh! Umm s-sorry," he mumbles hearing the annoyance and figures he can just try to read his book to figure out the things for battles. [Break][break]

Though he does look up again when he hears the nickname and he looks confused. The Bulbasaur gives Adrian a glare, "Umm Raziel is the name actually, sorry I don't know if we've met before but due to an injury from the war I've forgotten quite a bit," he offers as he shows off the exit burn on his right hand. [Break][break]

He looks even more confused about the 'why he was there' question. "Mostly recovering, but THEO BECKETT has said to contact him if you have questions about me, like I said I can't recall much last thing I recall is us being in Johto" he offers giving the other a hint where he left off so long as Adrian knew Rocket's history.

He returns a hollow stare. As Raziel explains Theo's involvement, he begins to see the bigger picture—but he doesn't know enough to truly understand... It's a bewildering experience. It's sickening. His guts twist into knots.[break][break]

"Right, Johto..." How could this happen? It must've been some sort of trick. Too cruel.[break][break]

He tries to speak plainly through a guilty, anguished expression. He's at least aware that, should he have any hand in foiling this little plot of THEO BECKETT's, there would be consequences. He's forced to play along.[break][break]

Razz was Team Rocket's WILDCARD now.[break][break]

"That... won't be necessary."[break][break]

It's an awkward silence that falls over their exchange, but Adrian is quick to conjure anything up on the fly, to avoid having to run his mouth recklessly: "So what brings you here?"

Raziel doesn't seemed bothered by the questions at all but he does ponder who they are and how they knew their name. Well a weird nickname version of it but he can work with that. Maybe he can fill in some of the lost time? Though maybe he should know who the other was first, "Uhhh well I've been told taking walks to help with my healing, as well as not staying in the room the whole time," he offers before showing off the book he had a 'The Brilliance of Modern Pokemon Battles'[break][break]

"Where I'm at in years Mega Evolutions and uhhhh..... Z-moves? And all that stuff weren't a thing so I'm just trying to relearn it all, what about you....? Uhhhh.... what was your name again?"

Adrian's not sure what use a book like that would be, at least to a trainer. Experience was what he needed—books were for the researchers who wanted to wax overly on their findings, or speak in elegant phrases and poetics—wasted on them.[break][break]

A hands-on approach was what a trainer needed.[break][break]

He rises to his feet, stretching against the cotton fabric before easing back, relaxing into his poise.[break][break]

"Well then, why don't we take a walk to the training deck?" Adrian would help him rebuild the lost experiences of his PAST life.[break][break]

A smile breaks out on Raziel's features as the other introduces himself, "Nice to meet you Adrian, I'm Raziel Pry... Beck....." he pauses at both names. Pryde was because he was used to it, and Beckett was at a suggest of Theo that he had been excited about when offered. Yet he doesn't really feel worthy of it, and he had a feeling it was meant to be mostly if he were in trouble and he could just use the name to get others to back off him. "uhhh just Raziel for now is fine," he offers as his faced looked more unsure now than before. Something the other may notice was that before Razz face was basically a stone and unmoving. Raziel was far different practically wearing his emotions all on his sleeve. [break][break]

"Wait really?" he questions excitedly as he hasn't had the chance to see any of this stuff up close. His expression almost like that of a child getting a new toy, "Uhhh yeah that sounds really cool!" he exclaims before getting back up. His movements were slow. showing that he was still very much recovering from the damage he had taken. [break][break]

"Oh so I was reading about Mega Evolutions and how..." Razz would go on to talk about the very textbook definition of it all. Going a little into the history and the theories of where it originated from, the technicalities of how it worked according to the book he was reading. Yet it was clear he had no actual understanding of it as they would make their way to the training room floor. Talking like a scientist rather than like a trainer.

He seemed almost like a child, in the way his enthusiasm shined through, lacking the indifference of an adult to such formalities. This enthusiasm of theirs doubled down when he allowed them a moment to rave on about the discovery and the theoreticals of mega evolution, in detail... It was almost annoying to listen.[break][break]

"Yeah, sure, so let's go," he spoke.[break][break]

More than that, it was heart-wrenching to think Razz as someone clawing back at their old valor.[break][break]

This is what Theo Beckett had reduced him to.[break][break]

The look of uncertainty on their face isn't lost to Adrian—but Raziel is a fine enough name, and he hates all the formalities. It would be better to be on a first name basis, anyway. Or so he believed.[break][break]

"So, do you think you could do it?"[break][break]

Adrian brandished the mega keystone along his wristband, before pushing through to the training grounds. For the moment it was empty—it was an unusual hour, and many still nursed injuries in the aftermath of the war only some handful of days prior. So they could afford to let loose here.[break][break]

"Or don't you know where to begin?"[break][break]

For all that his book had described—origins of stones, the nature of the transformation, and myriad scholarly details—none of it truly suggested how to invoke such a force. At best, it might have loosely attributed the power to bonds.[break][break]

It was something humans had only been able to guess at—though with recent discoveries, they were breaking ground into the territory of aura.[break][break]

It's rare a PROFESSOR could do it themselves. It was something that had to be felt out.[break][break]

Adrian plucks a pokeball from his belt, releasing a Copperajah outfitted with a mega stone.[break][break]

"I can just as easily show ya, but I don't think you'll learn enough just by gawking," he joked, jabbing at them.[break]

As he's talking he doesn't seem to notice that he's annoying the other, too used to being told to shut up when he got on another's nerves. Though when asked if he could do it he can't help but look at him like a deerling in headlights. How the hell would he know? He's never heard of them before that, did he even have the right stuff for it? [Break][break]

"Uhhhh... Don't you have to have a bond with something?" he questions bringing up one of his biggest issues about mega evolutions. "also idk what I have," he mutters as he tries to think before he snaps his fingers in remembrance, "Hey Bulbasaur can you get me that one bag Theo left?" he questions before the toxic chain pokemon runs off to the room to bring what the Underboss managed to 'salvage' from what he's been told. [Break][break]

"Well we'll see if I have anything but can you show me? I'm curious to see besides that even if I had the equipment the only pokemon I have is the Bulbasaur, can that mega evolve?" he has read its mostly limited to fully evolved pokemon but he also heard Pikachu and Eevee were capable of it so why not his Bulbasaur?

But he was prepared to see Raziel fail—it wasn't as though he expected them to whip out a mega stone and pull it off without a hitch. Although, he might've expected it—once upon a time. Oh well...[break][break]

"Yeah, that's the accepted theory."[break][break]

"...Hmmm, no, Bulbasaur won't work for this." For more reasons than one. Raziel knew enough to understand a bond was needed—but what did that entail, specifically? He wanted Raziel to understand that it was more than friendliness, or a history with a pokemon.[break][break]

It was a shared feeling—a visceral experience.[break][break]

He hands Raziel his own mega keystone, popping it out of its socket. The pearlescent shimmer, and a rainbow hue like an oil splatter over water—it was definitely the genuine article, if a bit weathered. It probably felt unspectacular in his hand. Copperajah responded with a light trumpet, but otherwise remained where it had stood.[break][break]

"Why don't you try it with 'Raj, if you don't have anything you can use yourself?" Raj seems to once again trumpet in response—it's an amiable creature, hardly disagreeable—but that doesn't mean it'll be easy.[break][break]

In fact, it shouldn't even be possible...[break][break]

...But Adrian wanted to see them try.[break][break]

If nothing else, it might be a little amusing.[break][break]

"Go on, give it an honest shot."[break][break]

To him, Razz had been a sort of PRIDE of the Rangers, and by extension the League—one of the good ones, someone who had aspired to greater things and hadn't let it steer them wrong...[break][break]

He wanted to see him thrive. Adrian wanted to believe in their natural talent—and so he forced him through this—even if he felt guilty at forcing them to grasp blindly at something they couldn't remember how to reach. Instruction could wait.[break]

"Boooo," he voices his disappointment in how the partner Theo had given him couldn't go further when other first level pokemon could. Oh well he'll deal with it he thinks to himself as Adrian hands him over the 'Keystone' and he clearly doesn't know what to do with it. "Ummm.. sure I'll try," he mumbles feeling bad as it feels like the other man really thought he can do it. Raziel doesn't know the man he met before this all happened to him and now he can't help but see failure would only disappoint them. [break][break]

He holds the keystone up and towards the elephant pokemon but there is no connection between the two of them. While he feels the energy within the Keystone Raziel can't link it with the energy the megastone copperajah wore. And because he can't feel any connection to the pokemon it can't connect the stone's energy to the other and nothing happens even after a few minutes of just nothing. "Sorry..." he mumbles as he honestly just can't feel anything. [break][break]

"BULBA!"[break][break]

His bulbasaur calls out entering the room with one of his pink vines holding the bag he was talking about earlier. He runs up to Raziel and hands it over before he sits to shuffle through it to show it off to Adrian. "Okay so I do have these at least," he offers as one by one he takes some items out:[break][break]

A Terra Orb, "Some pokeball? But there is a weird crystal inside so I don't think its a real pokeball"[break][break]
A Z-Ring, "I haven't the slightest idea what this thing is..."[break][break]

Ah well. He would have to work towards reclaiming that lost glory, Adrian decided, but it would be well worth it. The notion hits a little too close to home for him, though...[break][break]

"That's okay, you gave it your best." Adrian promptly snatched it away from them, returning it to its socket before giving Copperajah an expectant look. The pokemon and him were in sync, but it took more than the intent to mega evolve to actually force the transformation.[break][break]

"Usually when I tap into it, there's a strong desire—to PROTECT or to DESTROY." Adrian raised his wrist, and even though they both expected Copperajah to evolve, it wasn't quite enough to provoke the change. Which might've been a little disappointing.[break][break]

Adrian thinks back to a fateful encounter with REGIROCK, and a selfish desire to prove himself—to take his revenge. To destroy... He pumps a fist unwittingly, and the keystone crackles.[break][break]

The change takes hold, and Copperajah becomes something else entirely: An immutable wall, with the power to crush those before it. That is the desire made manifest—that is the MEGA EVOLUTION Raziel will one day wield.[break][break]

"See? It takes a little umph, sometimes," he says to give Raziel some reassurance in himself. He would learn to harness it—someday soon. It was only a matter of time.[break][break]

The strange Bulbasaur returns, and Raziel is quick to turn his attention to the belongings. It's good to know he's kept most of his things—although passing strange his pokemon have been lost. Perhaps they would snap him out of this flimsy hypnosis Theo Beckett had put him under...?[break][break]

"You've got a solid trove there. But yeah, you'll need a mega stone for your pokemon, too." The sygna suit isn't easily identified, though he wagers a guess. He doubts Raziel can use it as he is, so he glosses over it, instead choosing to fixate on the Z-Ring.[break][break]

"So, that Z-Ring is for using Z-Moves. It's like mega evolution—you should have an established bond with a pokemon to use it, but I think it's less crucial." Certainly a spare Z-Crystal would make do. But it was all the same if Raziel didn't have a pokemon who could use them yet.[break][break]

The Tera Orb he recognizes, as well.[break][break]

"That pokeball-thing is a Tera Orb—I haven't gotten one for myself yet, but I was going to reach out to Naomi about one soon." There were still things Adrian needed to learn, as well—trainers were lifelong learners, after all. Always honing skills.[break][break]

Raziel simply nods when Adrian gives the explanation of how to activate the keystone and his eye widens as the pokemon changes shape, and he is clearly amazed as he walks around the pokemon to get a better look at them. "This is so cool!" he exclaims, the other was right it was a lot more interesting to see it in person rather than having been reading it in a book. Though he does look into the book to see if there were any poison type pokemon that could actually do it. Once he gets to the page about Toxtricity he shows a picture to the older man, "Can one of these be found within the region?" he questions as he knows his old one he had to work extra hours in his dad's lab in order to get as finding them in Kanto were impossible. [break][break]

Information he can get after the other explains each item he had. The broach doesn't have any information, and the Z-Ring seems just as useless as the Keystone until he could form a proper 'bond' with his pokemon, whatever that entailed. It was always the rule that pokemon were just objects and tools, was he not suppose to keep treating them as such? Though at least with a few of his pokemon it wasn't like he could few them. [break][break]

"Hmmm how about the Terra orb then?" he questions as he puts the others away for now thinking he could learn them at another time. "I know you said you don't have one but can you explain what it does? Or maybe its something we can learn together," he offers as he picks up the black ball.
