Among the verdant green of route 102 are gray scars. Each serves as a reminder of a dark time when a meteor barreled down upon Hoenn. Had the worse come to pass, they wouldn’t have done much good. A meteor of that size wouldn’t just crush the region, it would have destroyed human and pokemon alike across the world within a few short years.[break][break]
Arceus, that’s rough. Thinks a phantom as he surveys one such bunker. As time passes, he finds it easier to solidify his astral form. Staying in one place seems easier, especially when he has links to another world and this one. He rides Valkyrie across this plain as he did the poisoned fields of Galar. He is Hoenn’s pale rider as much as he was Galar’s, surveying this landscape for hidden bases.[break][break]
“That’s another marked.” Says the rider, circling the spot on his map. He little suspects that there are blades hiding in the dark, waiting to strike. Giving Valkyrie a gentle nudge in her side, he spurs her on towards where he thinks another base might be. There’ll be time for him to explore the bases he’s found later. For now, he’s sticking to the plan he’s drummed up. Scouting. Nothing more.

Their task is to rattle Leaguers who are protecting the perimeter. As the region settles hesitantly into its newly drawn battlelines, striking first and striking hard will demonstrate the strength of Rocket. If they give the League an inch, they'll take a mile. [break][break]

It is more than fortunate that she's paired with two others, given that the unlucky Leaguer before them is a damned E4. "No time like the present," she says with a sideways glance to her colleagues. He's approaching the bunker they're located behind, so contact is inevitable. She steps around the edge of the bunker's wall, revealing herself as she tosses a pokeball high into the air as if she's serving a volleyball - trying to split his attention. [break][break]

Malamar appears, summoning a thunderbolt to strike Navy as he lands between Ameena and the Rider.

priam holds no real assignment in the field.

his job, at the moment, is more on petalburg's reclamation. expanding their territory and fending off those that go against the rule of team rocket was him going beyond the scope of his job description.

this is war. violence is the one thing that reigns supreme.

"beat him up! beat him up!" was the childish chant that priam sung in response to ameena abadi's first strike.

in the same manner of surprise, priam throws his ball overhead, sending the gabite right behind the malamar. they had one chance to overwhelm the opposition, and staggering their attacks for their first strike defeats the purpose.

sand tomb materializes underneath the spectrier in an attempt to limit its movements. the gabite blinks at the projection, recognizing the other elite four member.

It would be easier they claim...[break][break]

And yet it doesn't feel the same as he has teamed up with the pair. Hold down the fort for rumor had it one of the league's big guns has been coming around and marking their territory. Least that's how it had been described to him before being told to work with the pair. Following Beast priam conrad's lead and it should hopefully work out fine. Yet he worries he won't be compatible with the two, bring them down as aside from his Bulbasuar and Toxtricity most of his pokemon lacked experience. How he doesn't know the style of Hoenn's Rocket and what if he is unable to adapt?[break][break]

Doubts that plague him before his attention is drawn to the current as their time had come. Unlike the others he doesn't say anything, nor does he reach for a pokeball as the toxic chain pokemon was already atop his hat and waiting for orders. A click of his tongue gives his own order to try and go for a blow as it seems that's the plan the other two wanted to try. the noibat going for a strong GUST to not only attack but hopefully knock the rider off his steed, seeing if they couldn't poison they other while they were at it due to the Noibat's intoxicating fumes.[break][break]

Navy remembers an easy breath that makes the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Having survived a few typhoons in his life, he is intimately familiar with that last moment, the last heartbeat, before chaos erupts. The Rider’s eyes tilt up, hear screams, and chaos reigns.[break][break]
Thunderbolts cave in his chest. The earth rises up to take him, a sand tomb to spell the end of Hoenn’s first knight. Even the wind turns upon him, threatening to consume the Rider, poison him, corrode his very blood. Each of these wounds should kill. Somewhere far away, resting in a gentle pull, his true body violently jerks about in the water, coughing up blood.[break][break]
“Like the wind.” He urges Valkyrie, who disappears alongside her Rider with phantom force. His next breath is taken in the shadowy world in-between the land of the living and the borders. A sword of light guides him through the darkness, until he at last appears once more, poised directly behind the Rockets that sprung this little ambush.[break][break]
“A piteous display.” He says in an older man’s voice, resolved to fight this battle. Before he was even fully back in the world of the living, his hand was on a pokeball. There is no panache to his throw, no style. Style is for battle pitches and roaring crowds. He slams his pokeball into the ground beneath him like he’s smashing a tankard and demanding another round of mead.[break][break]
Roland, one-armed Iron Valiant, one of his strongest Pokemon, makes himself known. A storm of weapons fly all around him, cast about on the wind by Valkyrie. His horse plays the part of a poltergeist, covering the Iron Valiant as energy gathers along his blade’s edge. Fae energy gathers along Roland’s sword, unleashed in a spirit break upon ameena abadi’s Malamar.

Unprofessional glee fills her at priam conrad's chant, and with their trio's attacks, she's certain they've actually debilitated the Avatar she knows little about. It is, of course, far too good to be true. He's too resilient to brought down so quickly. She familiarizes herself with the facts: his Avatarship grants him a greater survivability than she had thought possible. His recovery was swift, and that meant that they had to fight smart, not just hard. [break][break]

Navy appears behind them, quick with the phantom force, and Ameena has only the time it takes him to toss his pokeball to the ground to get clear of the strike that follows - a fairy strike that nearly faints Malamar in a single blow. [break][break]

She stays the sidelines while Malamar cries out from the assault. Thankfully, it's contrary nature means it benefits from its hindered stat. "Tera," she orders shortly; they cannot afford to do anything by halves against someone who can survive their opening gambit. Malamar terastallizes dark, then follows with a night slash at the Iron Valiant. "At the rider," she hisses the correction, but it's too late - the strike is aimed at the Iron Valiant who will no doubt brave the assault. [break][break]

"We need to limit his mobility," she observes, fingers tracing her belt as she considers the next best pokemon to enter the field.

the rider has already been exposed to his usual tactics from what he can infer from their previous matches, but it shouldn't matter.

he hands ameena go-goggles, and then tosses a pair to raziel.

"sandstorm!"

the gabite stomps on the ground, causing the previous spot where the spectrier was to be the focal point.

what was left of the previous attack erupts in a mist of grains, spreading sand around to obscure the vision over a large area, and most importantly, to be carried by the noibat's winds.

sand gives weight to the gust, chipping away at the blades to dull their edge with every contact when they can.

"that's unbecoming of a member of the elite four like ya!" he calls navy out. "isn't it part of ya creed to try and enrich the future of the region instead of talkin' like that?"

it's just friendly banter in the battlefield. but misdirection and misinformation were equally valid presence in a skirmish like this.

He knows when he was talking to Cillian Quinn about avatars back when he was first catching up with things that the idea of human beings having powers were terrifying. Now having watched the Elite Four member basically tank all of their attacks showed him the very reason they were a force to reckon with. Was this just apart of their power? Or something else that every avatar had with some supernatural durability. [break][break]

At the order to try and limit their mobility Raziel calls back his Noibat in favor of something else as he trades it out for another flier in the form of Dustox, it may have the problem of also getting buffered by the Sandstorm their Beast put out but it had what he needed to slow their foe down as the masked rocker gives another whistle to give an order rather than shouting it out like the others. The bug pokemon aiming to slow down the avatar with STRING SHOT.[break][break]

Hopefully in trying to slow them down it'll give the other two the advantage they needed for a more definitive blow.

A storm of sand and swords gathers along this unassuming patch of grass, near an unassuming little base. When the Rider’s eyes spot priam conrad, he has an idea of what his Gabite is going to do next. Were he a Rocket assassin, he’d conjure up a sandstorm. There are females in Vortigern’s brood who are far quieter within a sandstorm than any creature has a right to be. They approach their prey unseen and take their throats out before they even know they’re dead.[break][break]
“You’ll be watchin’ the future of the region develop in a jail cell!” Navy shouts the words at Priam, calling out to his iron warrior. “Roland! Catch!” Ascalon flies through the air, guided by magnetic force until it lands in the tall Iron Valiant’s hand. Roland’s old sword falls to the ground unattended.[break][break]
The night slash scrapes along where Roland’s left arm would be, were it still there. It tears into his torso chassis, a wound rendered nonfatal by its user turning to behold the Malamar. Were he just Roland, were he any other Iron Valiant, he would crumple beneath the wound and the pressure of an attack from multiple directions.[break][break]
Not here, not him, not now. He is Roland. In his hand be Ascalon, sword of heroes and promised victory. With this sword in hand, he beholds a hundred thousand other worlds. In them, he is a creature of flesh. He battles for ionized ideals. He battles for truths blazing within blue fires. He battles in feylight and beneath rolling seas.[break][break]
A stellar crown revolves atop his head, a line running from blade to the crown. In one fluid motion, he flicks a tera blast aimed through Malamar, meant to take down the Dustox that means to bind his liege lord and the spectral steed beneath him. Their efforts do bear fruit, for both rider and horse are too busy trying to pull themselves free and see within the sandstorm to perform a counterattack themselves.

He devastates Malamar and likely the Dustox too; only the sandstorm really gives them any advantage. "The wide environmental attack is good," she comments mostly to herself as she maneuvers herself to experience the least amount of buffeting winds. She doesn't have so much to offer in that regard herself, so she returns the fainted Malamar and chooses her Corviknight Cora instead. The ball is worn in color, one of her oldest companions, but it contains her trusty Galarian flier. [break][break]

She reaches for her necklace and mega-evolves the Corviknight. [break][break]

"He cannot defend against three of us for long." Her certainty is loud. She respected her teammates for their quick action and the general strategy, though they had not talked out specifics. "Dive," she orders Corviknight, who soars high just to plummet into the sandstorm with a brave bird and the guiding force of her keen eye. [break][break]

Montgomery James's mentor is proving capable. His E4 status is clearly earned given how unrattled he is while so outnumbered. As much as her mission objective is to take him down, she can't help but feel a sick twinge of pride at how well he handles himself; Montgomery is worthy of a fearsome League warrior, and Navy is worthy of Montgomery, as far as she can assess. this was so pathetic. a rocket beast should be able to stand up against the strongest forces of the league, but here he was, having to rely on two other rockets just to remain relevant in the fight.

he wasn't even considered a threat given that the others were targeted instead. he shouldn't have stepped in on bryan delarosa's domain, but things have already transpired.

"then do it!" he challenges in a tone reminiscent of playground beef, being reminded of the captured beast. "do it or no balls!"

not that they'd be willing to be captured, no. there are a lot of tasks left in the agenda and priam can't get himself captured when the list has hardly been touched.

gabite spreads its stealth rocks amid the air, making themselves scarce within the blanket of sand.

slowly, the field turns into a minefield. any wrong move will trigger their traps, but staying within the field will slowly dull the blade within their raging sandstorm.

Okay well this was new, when Adrian Malcolm explained teralization to him for the first time he had mentioned that the pokemon got only one typing based off the crown. So what the hell was the typing of this new crown? Did it just power up itself or had this thing just suddenly become all the types out there? Its a learning experience that was for sure, especially as the elite four showcases' the paradox pokemon's new power with it's terra blast Raziel unable to do anything but watch as the blast essentially denigrates the dustox. [break][break]

Craaaap, is all he can thinks as he worries about their situation. He has poisoned them, priam conrad had set the weather to hurt and blind the man, and @amenna was their current muscle but it didn't seem enough. It was like as much as they pushed the Elite Four member the more he pushed back, "He's doing a damn good job of it so far," Raziel comments as he wonders just what to do now, his toxic chain Noibat wasn't even close to the other's league just yet and he doesn't feel like losing another pokemon. After witnessing Amenna mega evolving her pokemon he realizes the one thing he is capable of doing as he takes out another pokeball. [break][break]

Unlike the dustox before it their pokeball has signs of worn and use rather than the new and shiny. The Toxtricity inside it one of the pokemon he had borrowed from the underboss as a way of trying to keep up with the rest. To do his part as the Dynamax Band activates to make the ball grow before he tosses it, "Make him pay for the dustox!" he orders as the Toxtricity grows and shapes into it's Gigantamax form. From the order once it has gather itself they would use G-Max Stun Shock on the Iron Valiant for it's crime.[break][break]

Zacian needs no command. Her instincts carry her forward, on towards her target, on towards this newest giant for her to slay. Zacian’s half of Ascalon glows with the light of Avalon and distant worlds. It grows into a behemoth blade. Dyna barriers might well be butter before the hero of many battles.

The hurricane knocks the abrading sand out of Cora's sightline. It only benefits her, and she's unhindered by the stealth rocks that now litter the ground like a minefield. With the giant Toxtricity there to keep Zacian busy, Cora's only gambit now is to use tailwind, improving her speed as she dive bombs at Navy himself. [break][break]

The whipping winds make it difficult to antagonize, and she finds herself prioritizing distance from the huge Toxtricity -- she has no interest in being an accidental casualty -- instead of engaging in trash talk. She has a gun, but with the hurricane active, it'd be a worthless endeavor to try and shoot the Elite Four. [break][break]

Raziel has a Toxtricity to control, but she finds solace in stepping carefully to Priam's side of things (mindful of the rocks) to ask: "What strategy now? I think we should try and bury the dog, but I lack the means." She didn't bring any pokemon with strong command of the ground.

ammena's suggestion may have been given a chance to be executed, but the opportunity is missed with navy's attack.

gabite attempts to go against it, but succumbs to the mere whiplash of the legend's sword striking against its sworn enemy in dynamax.

it takes priam by surprise, given that this is the first time he has seen the avatar of the hero of many battles in action, but he doesn't slow down. even if all the set-up he has done had been undone in a single turn, it will take much more to solicit giving up easily.

"i'll bury the dog then!" he shouts, charging in with ameena as he suits up. "then we overwhelm."

it felt different taking other's suggestions than issuing his own. expanding on the idea has him act out riskier moves as he rides out the tailwind to get a better optimization for his weaker specs.

a quick switch recalls the gabite and releases the espeon. he skids along the dirt after the initial hurricane, stripping away cover and exposing him, and extends his arm towards it.

sygna suit activates. gravity pulls in stealth rocks and closes in at the zacian, forcing it to detonate.

dazzling gleam from the espeon replaces the sandstorm as a means to limit the warrior's vision, giving enough room for raziel to work his magic.
