I don’t think you’re fine, you look like you’re freaking out… Alexei thought to himself as he watched Florian, along with several others, continue digging. Nodding to his Salamence and Lucario, one of them continued to dig with his paws, while the other attempted to melt through the thick ice and snow that had blocked off the exits.[break][break]

Several more exists were made in the time that had passed, and he felt something nudge the tip of his boot—and his mind very nearly did a colossal freak-out because of the bone that was sighted. Bone. Arceus, what kind of bone is this supposed to be?! He thought in a panic, but thankfully it didn’t look to be a human bone… which was the important thing here.[break][break]

Another thing here, another thing there happens and then the roof looked like it was going to fall, and he had to make tracks away from where he was standing because of the weight of the snow. Yikes.[break][break]

“That’s not good…” he mumbled to himself, whistling sharply and gesturing in the direction of the Salamence and Lucario, before making faster digging motions—a non-verbal signal to keep going, and dig faster![break][break]

The Salamence continues to unleash flaming wrath with Flamethrower in hopes of melting the wall of ice it was faced with as the Lucario dug beneath, knocking aside handfuls of snow. It’s not until Alexei himself looked around and noticed that Florian was no longer with him does his mind freak out.[break][break]

And then, he spots him.[break][break]

The shock of blonde hair makes him approach, but it’s the seeping red, bleeding through the suit, that made him come to a stop and freeze up.[break][break]

Blood.[break][break]

About the only thing he was scared of seeing—moreso if it was his own.[break][break]

“F-f-f-f-Florian…” he began, voice stammering on the name. “Y-y-y-y-you’re…bleeding,” and with that he has to take a deep breath and momentarily avert his gaze because crap.[break][break]

Crap, crap, crap! How could he have let the other man out of his sight?![break][break]

Now the blonde was injured![break][break]

Gritting his teeth, he looks at the scarf he’s wearing—he has so many it’s not going to be missed too badly. Quickly unwinding it, he then gestured to the other to hold his arm out before quickly winding the scarf around the injury, ignoring any protests the other would make otherwise.[break][break]

Alexei… really cannot stand the sight of blood.[break][break]

Gestures to his Salamence and Lucario to dig faster, faster, faster! Loses sight of Florian but eventually finds him again. however this time he's the one who has the freak-out. Gesturing for the other man's bleeding arm, he unwraps the scarf around his neck and quickly wraps it around the injury.

One minute, Avery is enjoying a nice evening with Cait, dancing up a storm, and the next the walls are collapsing with snow and there's darkness and cold and she's afraid. So afraid that she tenses up and seems to lock up. She can't think, can't process, can't respond. She merely holds tight to Cait's hand and shudders despite her warm ugly Christmas sweater.[break][break]

"C-Cait? What are we gonna do?"[break][break]

Very quickly, Avery felt more like a lost and confused child rather than a confident and collected adult. Lucario stands stoic at her side then, moving quickly to protect her from the cold and give her a reassuring presence. Meanwhile, the woman's Klefki pops out of its pokeball has begun to whisk around anxiously, trying every lock in the room to try and escape, despite the snow being the cause of all of this.[break][break]

Lucario steps up to try and break at the ice and snow.[break][break]

Florian turns at the sound of his name, stammered as it was on the lips of a man who looks as if he might faint. Blue eyes go wide with concern as Alexei approaches him, and he's opening his mouth to ask if the other man's all right when Alex points out his bleeding arm, evidently alarmed.

"Oh, ah—" He laughs, forced and strained. "Don't worry about that, it's just—"

But suddenly Alexei is close and he's unwinding his scarf, and the professor doesn't think the continued insistence that he's fine will do either of them any good, at this point. He silently holds out his arm and allows Alexei to wrap the scarf around it, helping where he could so that the other didn't have to look at the blood for a prolonged amount of time.

"I'm sorry if I frightened you," he murmurs, sincere. Should Alexei not pull away, Florian would bring his arms up to pull the other man into a comforting hug. "It was the debris from the ceiling, I think. It looks worse than it probably is. Are you all right? You are very pale."

His hands were shaking, but he forced himself to take deep breaths, steadily wrapping the injury with the scarf. Never mind if the scarf was ruined, he just… the sight of blood was more than enough to set him on edge. It was a reminder of what he really was, considering he hadn’t revealed this secret to anyone else.[break][break]

Well, anyone else that mattered to him anyway.[break][break]

Once he had secured the scarf around the injury with Florian’s help, he was still… out of sorts. Not until his ears registered what Florian said next does he snap out of it, faint spots of color dotting his cheeks. His ears didn’t feel like they were on fire anymore, though… at least until he was hugged by the other man.[break][break]

If Alexei could melt into an incomprehensible puddle, he would have done so right then and there, because mother of Arceus what was he feeling right now?! Were these the signs of…?[break][break]

No, no, no! You’re going too fast! Slow down! He mentally chastised himself, still trembling from within Florian’s hold. Only this trembling wasn’t from nervousness, it was now a mix of nervousness and something else that had decided to manifest in his stomach. Like, the emotional kind of…[break][break]

“L-let’s get that looked at when we g-get out of here, s-shall we?” he finally manages to stammer, his cheeks now a healthy flushed shade of red, along with his ears threatening to just erupt.[break][break]

Alexei is just so wound up right now, his mind belatedly registered what Florian said. The hug doesn’t even register until he realizes the other is so close and then SIGNS OF INTERNAL EMOTIONAL PANICKING (the good kind, mind). You’ve done it now, Florian, you set the spark aflame!

cait remained outwardly calm in the chaos, though she worried about fernando, stormy and her avery. they had been given just enough time to dance and be close, only for the moment to be partly tarnished by what appeared to be a natural disaster that had arrived at their very doorstep.

'nights like these are cursed,' she thought, her brows furrowed and her expression somber.

she squeezed avery's hand, her gardevoir and ninetales sharing a single and knowing glance as they took stock of the situation. cait motioned to her gardevoir, who nodded before she sought to wield her psychic powers to aid in its removal. psychic began to shovel at frigid clumps, though she took care to avoid inadvertently harming her fellows as she worked.

"we'll be alright," cait reassured, addressing avery directly. "stay with me. alright?"

- gardevoir uses psychic to begin shoveling the snow and ice.

Florian's always been a very tactile person. There'd been a time in his life where that had changed, but Joli had helped him through the worst of it, and he once again finds comfort in the physical touch. It doesn't cross his mind that such close proximity might be considered too intimate between friends.

Instead, he leans into the hug and takes a moment to breathe before pulling back, blue eyes meeting violet. Alexei is still incredibly pale, and Florian can't help but worry far more about the gym leader than himself as he takes in the other man's evident panic.

"It'll be all right," he promises, and there's more conviction in his voice now that his priorities have shifted to putting someone else at ease. "I - I think we've pretty much gotten through, look!"

He gestures to the numerous gaps that have been made in the snow and ice, and smiles as he gestures toward one of the openings.

"Let's go home, shall we?"

Avery struggles to read Cait's face as her brows furrow together and the woman gets lost in her thoughts. She chews the inside of her cheek nervously, while anxiously gripping her friend's hand a little bit tighter. The cold was nearly unbearable for Avery, who seemed to be more sensitive and reactive to it. She huddles close to Cait, resting her cheek on her shoulder.[break][break]

Lucario remains patient and waiting, but begins to aid Gardevoir in the Pokemon's attempt to clear snow. It's then that someone on the other side must have opened up the last remaining barrier, and the frigid cold seems less refridgerated and more natural - like the wind from outside was coming inside. She gasps, her breath a vapor in the air.[break][break]

"We're gonna be okay! Someone must have dug through."[break][break]

She remains close to Cait, however, not willing to risk getting lost. Lucario can feel the halted and afraid emotions of several people in the building, but doesn't move to help. The only person he's worried about is Avery - and she's safe.

Finally, the last wall of snow breaks down thanks to a couple of other party-goers, and it's safe to leave. The wind is cold, really cold, as it blasts through the broken windows and busted doors. [break][break]

"I think, I think it's time to go home. Grab some warm food on the way and cuddle up on the couch."[break][break]

She says this as she grabs hold of Oswald's hand and squeezes tight. With a gentle tug, she encourages him to follow her through their opening and eventually outside. Her Oricorio settle on her shoulders, huddling against her neck. Torkoal is returned along with Flareon, and the woman tosses her coat on and shivers.[break][break]

"Yep. Hot food, stat."[break][break]

Her thumb brushes the back of his hand affectionately.

THE FINAL PUSH! the combination of everyone's efforts tears down the last of the barricade. The snowy slope does not refill its gap. Instead, everyone is able to leave the lodge as they await the arrival of rangers. Those with flying pokemon will be able to leave at their own accord.[break][break]

circe crowley and Laurence Anderson, in their clearing of the snow, will be able to discover more unearthed fossils. Should they pocket them, they will be able to revive them for a fossil pokemon of their choice (base evo).[break][break]

Slowly but surely, the blizzard begins to die. Visibility returns to a decent condition after an hour, revealing a gorgeous wintry sky. Despite the disaster, there is peace found in the aftermath of courage.[break][break][break]

The Zoroark called to her trainer with good news in both hands. One had wedged a fossil between a trio of claws – from the same source as the bones, no doubt. The other pointed to where it had been clawing away. More specifically, at a hole in the snow that hadn’t closed up. A large one. They were free. “Kit, we did it! We saved Christmas! And all the other holdiays too, I guess!” Both of the trainer’s fists shot into the air, and shortly after her Pokemon followed suit. The Vulpix abandoned her fire-melting efforts to join the victory shot.

“Oh, I’ll take you home first,” Alexei murmured quietly, only loud enough so that Florian could hear what he wanted to say.[break][break]

Thankfully, nobody was going to get buried under snow and be frozen in death tonight, thanks to the efforts of many—including the blonde with him.[break][break]

“C-come on, we have to get your injury looked at… let’s go,” he urged, unknowingly taking one of Florian’s hands and bringing him towards one of the exits. There was no snow pouring down on them anymore unlike earlier.[break][break]

The sooner they got out of the cold, the better! Thank goodness he’d decided to drink hot chocolate instead of something else, so he was feeling pretty warmed up.[break][break]

But then again he was with Florian so he was absolutely flustered at all this. Once they’d made their way outside, he quickly summoned a Flying-type, the better to get them both out of this place as fast as possible.[break][break]
