Oh god she hated this place. It was so bloody cold and it offered nothing of value. The only reason she was here was that she'd heard tell of some high-level held-items that could improve her single ice-type move. Despite her distaste for anything other than absolute obliteration, freeze-dry had been incredibly useful in tight situations.[break][break]

Unfortunately for her, she hadn't been successful in finding whatever NPC was offering such high-quality goods. Instead, Stormy continues to wander about Nixtorm aimlessly, tucking her robe and cloak more firmly around her torso.[break][break]

"Gods, it's cold."[break][break]

Her breath manifested in a pale white smog in front of her eyes whenever she breathed out. It seemed not even her fiery blood could save her from Nixtorm's lower temperatures.[break][break]

Stormy makes her way to the last shop she could find, pushing the door open and taking a quick peek inside.

stormy finds herself looking at kyle's avatar in his underwear, facing in front of the mirror. winter clothes would appear around his avatar all of a sudden as he tries sets that are aesthetically pleasing to him.

the clothes disappear once more before kyle notice someone enter. he turns to face the newcomer, greets her with a grin, and goes back to his business. this was a normal thing to do in a game when one wants to customize their appearance.

a coat appears one last time, fuzzy swablue down lining the hood's rim. it looks too bulky to look nice though, but it fits the theme. kyle contemplates on the appearance he has set one last time before he tries something else from the shop.

Stormy takes a second too long to realise what it was she was looking at: someone half-naked changing outfits in front of a mirror. Had she accidentally stumbled into someone's house?[break][break]

She takes a quick peek outside to look at the plaque on the front door. Nope. This was definitely an armor shop.[break][break]

The woman's face is flushed red as she re-enters, avoiding making direct eye contact with the man who was now offering her a genuine smile. Except her smile looked a little pained and contorted, like she was clearly still picturing his boxer booty.[break][break]

For a moment she considers offering him a compliment, or some words of advice. But instead of actually coming up with something witty to say, she opens her mouth, squeaks, and closes her mouth with an awkward cough.

it has good resistances for its price, but it just looks so bulky. the fluff is nice though, and there's nothing else on the shop that has that same feature besides one particular headgear.

a mightyena hat appears on top of him.

kyle pairs it with whatever boots and pants fit the winter aesthetic he was looking for and he finishes his attire. he turns to the shopkeeper, prompting a screen that tells him the total amount he needs to spend, and accepts it.

he turns to stormy with an expectant smile, asking her a sudden question, oblivious to the anxiety she was experiencing. "how do i look?"

it wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the mismatched colors.

He hadn't seemed to notice her moment of panic, which would have meant she had a window of opportunity to just get the hell out of there and wipe that awkward encounter right out of her memory. Except she didn't, and she instead continued to linger and glance at the man who clearly couldn't match colours to save his life.[break][break]

But he was probably more concerned with stats than with aesthetics. [break][break]

She's caught off guard for only a moment when he turns back to face her. He's paid for his items already and seems quite proud when he asks her: 'How do I look?'. She's immediately reeled in by the adorable Mightyena hat, so much so that she almost reaches over to tug on the pom-poms under his chin.[break][break]

However, something uncannily familiar catches her attention and forces her to hesitate.[break][break]

"You look.. adorable."[break][break]

Stormy has yet to put a finger on what's so familiar about the situation, but it seems that the Mightyena hat had melted away any awkwardness she still had. [break][break]

"But the swablu-down hood really brought out your eyes."

he quickly goes back to the mirror to look if what she said has any ground. kyle looks at it and doesn't get it. then again, he doesn't get fashion and most of the expressions used when describing it.

"you really think so?" while there was genuine confusion on his tone, kyle simply shrugs and takes the stranger's opinion on it.

he starts to play with the ends of his mightyena hat in front of the mirror, still wondering how exactly the jacket brings out the best of his avatar's gray eyes. he starts to convince himself that it's the mightyena hat that does the trick.

"if you're here for the poochy hat, it's only available for the opening month. you better buy one now."

obviously, its the thing that wraps the entire outfit together.

Stormy can't help but smile when he rushes back to the mirror to observe himself more closely in the mirror, just to see if she's telling the truth or to see it for himself. She crosses her arms in front of her chest loosely as she watches him.[break][break]

"Mhmm, I wouldn't lie."[break][break]

Her eyes catch onto his absent twiddle of the Mightyena hat and she's momentarily distracted, lost in the idle movements.[break][break]

The man mentions the hat again, alerting her to the fact that its limited edition. She purses her lips, considering it.[break][break]

"Do you think it suits me?"[break][break]

She brushes past him to grab her own, using the mirror to change her apparel as well. The hat disappears from her hand in a blink and reappears on her head, and she turns back to see the player's reaction.

"doesn't matter. it becomes a collector's item after the promo period anyways" he turns his back from the mirror and to the player in the room with him. "and that hat fits everyone. it's the best thing in this game."

it has trash stats besides a very light, but his judgement says otherwise.

"see? you look better than when you came from that door!"

a thought comes to his head. it's obvious that kyle and her have different objectives coming into the shop since she doesn't go straight away to buy the hat. he raises a brow as he starts to question her.

"if you're not here for the hat, then what did you even come here for?"

Not exactly the charming reaction she'd been expecting, but something told her that that was exactly the right response for the man behind the avatar.[break][break]

"Best thing in this game, huh?"[break][break]

He sort of back-handed compliments her and she blushes because she doesn't know how to respond to it. Should she be insulted that he preferred her better with the goofy hat? Or flattered that he seemed genuine about liking the way she looked?[break][break]

"I was looking for this supposed super powerful held item or something. I overheard someone saying it was in one of the shops in Nixtorm, it was supposed to buff my ice-type spell. I haven't had luck finding it."[break][break]

She twiddles her thumbs against the drawstring of the hat, distracted.[break][break]

"The hat and the company is just a bonus, I guess."

"oh. those things? you either get them as rare drops or something you craft. npc shops only sell things that give flat stats."

while he doesn't have any of those items, kyle wasn't really too engrossed on farming for super rare items. he was knowledgeable about the game to a certain extent, but that does not mean he has done everything the game offers.

he scratches his head as he tries to think of ways to break the news. he gives up and straight up tells her.

"i think you got scammed."

while stormy flatters him with her statement, kyle is too much in the zone of imparting his gaming skills to warrant any further comment. kyle was still stuck on the earlier topic of the rare drop.

"if you're still in the mood for company, i can bring you where you can look for those. the person who told you that was right in that it can be found on nixtorm though."

Stormy frowns, bottom lip jutting as her fists tighten against her biceps. Her arms remain crossed but her frustration is evident in her rigid body language.[break][break]

"What? Fuck me.."[break][break]

She sighs, exasperated as she tilts her head back, shoulders sagging in disappointment. She'd come all this way on a rumor, and nothing to show for it.[break][break]

The mage rolls her shoulders, stretching her neck and blowing air past her lips, shaking her head as she scuffs the ground with the toe of her boot.[break][break]

Kyle's scratching his head and looks like he's chewing on something juicy and Stormy rolls her eyes when he finally spits out what's on his mind.[break][break]

"Yep. What else is new."[break][break]

But, chances were she had just misunderstood what she'd heard. After all, like he said, she was in the right place, technically. He offers his company and she raises an eyebrow at his generosity.[break][break]

"I'm always in the mood for company, if you'll have me. I take it you might have some idea where this rare item is, then? Do I get dibs if we find it?"[break][break]

She holds out her hand.

he looks at her hand and takes it, shaking it firmly to affirm the agreement.

"sure. i'm mostly just curious if we can beat the boss that drops it with just the two of us."

kyle assumes she's a mage because of the mention of ice-type. a two ranged dps party usually doesn't work. he only manages to make it work with fernando due to their selection of skills.

he wonders if the other player is aware. kyle makes sure she knows what she's going for by informing her cause communication is key for many aspects in life, farming for gear included.

"i'm a ranger, by the way. we're both gonna die in a few hits. are you ready to restart a few times?"

His handshake is firm and brief, and her hand quickly returns to her side. He voices his concerns or his thoughts, out loud, and the woman tilts her head at him with a look of mock dismay.[break][break]

"Do you doubt us? Unbelievable."[break][break]

Her arms cross over her chest as she stares at him with a look of disappointment. [break][break]

"I never took you for the type to shy away from a little danger, Kyle.[break][break]

Stormy has sent aaaaaaa a friend request and party invite as she says this, her gaze challenging as she smiles up at him. She snorts a laugh as she reaches out again for his hand, intending to grab hold and tug him along with her so they could talk outside.[break][break]

She'd already paid for an equipped the Mightyena hat and had already noticed a difference in her cold resistance. The brisk breeze didn't appear to bother her nearly as much all of a sudden.[break][break]

Her hand, if it had been holding onto Kyle's, would have at this point let go.[break][break]

"I'm a fire mage, obviously. A little ice doesn't stand a chance against me. You've got my back, I've got yours, yeah?"

she calls him by his name, but kyle knows not to act like it's really his identity. he's been on the internet long enough to know not to dox himself.

"you're creepy." he accepts both the friend request and the party invite regardless of his first impression. "i'll accept you anyways!"

if she has the type advantage, then he supposed there's nothing much to be afraid off. if worse comes to worst, at least she can use her fire-typing to act as a pseudo tank for both of them.

"yeah, sure!" kyle wonders if he should even mention his plan on using her as his front line. he decides against it. "the mob around there is pretty strong like there's a sudden spike in difficulty. is your equipment ready?"
