WHEN YOU ENTER THE FIRST FLOOR, a dojo student greets you. the tower is grand, smelling of incense and wood. sunlight seeps in through the paper paneling and windows high above. before you can leave the genkan, they politely remind you to take off your shoes and to place them in the cubbies to the right side.[break][break]

ahead, a whiscash awaits the party, resting in a small inflatable pool. the dojo student gurgles, "YO! AVOID TAKING WATER-TYPE DAMAGE AT ALL COSTS WHILE LANDING AN ATTACK THREE TIMES. GOT IT?" he exhales, "READY UP! MY WHISCASH WANTS TO HIT THE WAVES!"[break][break]

he guides you all onto the floor and waits for you all to pick your pokemon. a rotomi is stationed to the left, should you require it. as soon as you all summon your pokemon, the whiscash spews water from its maw and sends a SURF attack against your entire party.[break][break][break]

Gavin eyes the dojo student with a cocked brow, making no effort to hide his judgement. How was it possible for someone to sound like they were drowning as they spoke? It was as impressive as it was disgusting.[break][break]

Before the boy has finished speaking, Gavin is already at the rotomi.[break][break]

"Arctovish, FREEZE DRY."[break][break]

As his chimeric fossil emerges from its confinement, slumping forward awkwardly due to the weight of its head in the absence of any water to keep it buoyant, the surf crashes harmlessly against it. If anything, it seems invigorated as the WATER IS ABSORBED by its skin, using the waves to angle itself and attempt to FREEZE-DRY the water in Whiscash's pool.

She looks downright unappealing in her bright dojo uniform. She sticks out like a sore thumb and it visibly makes her uncomfortable. But she pushes past her wish for blacker clothing in favor of crushing this tower challenge.[break][break]

Gavin is the first to respond to the target, utilizing a bizarre, man-made Pokemon that absorbs the flow of water and retaliates. She opts to use an identical strategy.[break][break]

Upon the release of her Araquanid, the water spider's massive bubble head only grows as the SURF washes over her. As soon as the attack ends, the bubble shrinks as the spider absorbs the nutrients into her body - or something.[break][break]

In retaliation, the Araquanid opts to attack using SCALD. Taste of your own medicine, right?

They were initially tasked with taking their shoes off and changing their attire entirely, being given "Dojo Uniforms" to wear in the meantime. Secondly there was a lengthy speech of sorts until they were then pressed to move along to their appropriate challenge.

In this they were met with one of the Dojo's members, a male whom seemingly owned a Whiscash, but kept it in a sort of kiddy-pool. Despite this it's first attack was Surf and remained considerably large in diameter. With Maladi, a Normal-Fire-Type at his side Sebastian would have grimmiced at the notion had he not been a quick tactical thinkerh himself.

While his partners opted to absorb the water before counter attacking themselves, Sebastian had no such means to nullify the water, but he did have the ability to at least avoid it, potentially...

Maladi, hit that Surf with HYPER VOICE and blast your way through!

Stepping up excitedly Maladi would plant her feet down before tilting her head back and then dropping it back to a level state while unleashing an ear piercing roar that would cone out in visible fashion. The next moment would lead to the HYPER VOICE clashing with the incoming wave, in which would knock a "hole" through the wave. However as this happened in planned fashion Maladi would begin lurching forward, maintaining her HYPER VOICE before leaping through the makeshift entrance/exit through the incoming Surf. From there she would be mid-air as the wave passed on, tilting her head to redirect her attack towards the fish Pokemon in the kiddy-pool, attempting to then attack her target with her continued roaring assault.

The challenge was almost impossible for Valerio to accomplish if not for the presence of his guardian Angel—a mantine.

“Ha! Good thing my mon isn’t affected by petty tricks, young man.” He shouted as he hurled his ball with the dual-type who immediately absorbed all the water from surf by its WATER ABSORB and retaliated with a SEED BOMB at the opposite trainer’s whiscash.

MANTINE (ANGEL) uses WATER ABSORB.
MANTINE uses SEED BOMB.

THE WHISCASH'S WAVE surges toward the party's pokemon. while some pokemon manage to sustain no water-type damage due to WATER ABSORB and retaliate with attacks of their own, Igor's litleo attempts another tactic. the HYPER VOICE manages to disperse some of the water, but the SURF attack still manages to strike the poor cub down.[break][break]
