This time Fernando gives the group more time to rest. His hands are still swelling from the impact of their last run but that's not why they're allocated a longer break. A business call comes through and Fernando uses this time to check in on other things as well. He returns with several ice packs, preparing their reward for after this run, while throwing out a Pokeball.

His Marill lets out a BELLY DRUM, rallying the troops for their next attempt.

Gavin rises with the rallying call, his Metagross following suit more slowly as it tucks in its legs and hovers off the ground. Marill leads their charge with a furious drumming that PSYCHS UP Metagross and lends it much-needed strength. Mudsdale had been fresh. Metagross has already been pushed to its limits, and now Gavin pushes it further still.

there's a sigh of contempt that comes from kyle when not enough rest was given, or at least in his opinion. at least the smeargle seems up for another round still.

he already has been on multiple runs with him through a race course and the attempts to get into the leader boards just hasn't ended yet. this time wasn't different from the rest where his smeargle uses psych up, however.

Razz's hands were shaking after the last course but was at least thankful for the time of rest. Though this time he brought out Salem to do the job. While Dijon has been doing well in all his rounds in this course Razz knew he needed the break with Belly Drum continuing to half his health. PSYCH UP, thankfully, didn't have that flaw as the Meowstic copied the little blue mouse. He was not physical attacker but didn't mean he couldn't keep up.

Counting down their movements helps keep them in rhythm. At least it helps Fernando's timing. The lack of protest means he'll continue on verbalizing his movements every time they come across something study they have to destroy. Unsurprisingly, his Marill seems to be able to bounce through anything that isn't cold, hard steel. At least so far.

If Silph's verbal rhythm keeping bothers Gavin, it doesn't show in his placid expression. Metagross is equally expressive as it coats itself in psychic energies and physically barrels through target after target. Gavin's not sure if it's following Silph's lead or if he's seeing patterns where there are none. The day blends into a haze of attempts, and this is one among many.

the course can only get so straightforward. it's not the actual skill behind the course that gets into kyle's nerves, but rather the work required to get minimal progress from it.

the smeargle continues to beat up boards of varying material, and kyle remembers why he's fine with this. it's because it's his pokemon doing most of the work while he does his best in his own way.

With the first round up it was time for Salem to prove his worth in this course. Razz used Dijon to recall the course to try and make it easy for Salem now. After all doing these things over and over would be a pattern and while blasting through was the name of the game there were ways to do them more effectively. Though watching the cat break through the boards with a kick wasn't what he would call effective, but it was funny.

He gives a status call to serve as a moral booster. It also lets them know that they're pressed for time. Fernando can't accurate recall how much time has passed since the start but it feels like they should be at the half-way point. But that's a bad thing. They should be farther.

Only halfway? It's demoralizing to realise that the progress he'd felt he was making didn't have the impact that he'd thought. Rather than give up, however, Gavin is bolstered by the call out. If they were halfway, they just had to do everything they'd already done for a second time. It's easier to digest like that. He allows himself a brief pause to catch his breath.

the previous run went so much faster than this that kyle shares cavalli's opinion on the matter. why can't this end fast?

there's a sigh coming from kyle as he watches his smeargle continue to beat up some planks or some shit. it's oblivious to the fact that there's still more to go, but it seems to enjoy breaking things so there's that.

Razz chuckled at the attempt by Salem but it was obviously that while powered up strength was not his strong suit. With the hay bales coming up Razz knew he was going to need the psychic cat to focus more on his strength. "Psychic," he ordered adding a quick gesture as their eyes turned blue as the hay rose up enough to lighten them but not move them entirely. This way he didn't need to use too much energy to completely move them, and it would take less strength to knock them out of the way for both of them. [break][break]

Hopefully it would bring good results.

Stopping for a breather had been a mistake. Gavin feels exhaustion settle into his bones, a crushing weight that makes the remainder of the course seem all the more daunting. He isn't a quitter. It doesn't matter if he has to crawl over the finish line on his hands and knees: he's going to see this through. He grits his teeth and persists.

kyle and smeargle continues to beat up those obstacles in their path because there is nothing else to do. there's no way out until they finish the course, so in a way, kyle is forced to do it. they're also halfway through for him to give up anyways.
