Zac checked his mic and sent his Miniors whirling through the air; a dozen autonomous cameramen ready to capture every moment of their nature walk. 

"Howzit goin rippers! We're here today at the New Mauville power plant in search of something special, but we'll get to that in a sec!" The bright green Minior zoomed over to Oscar, getting a close-up of his face, with the entrance to New Mauville in the background. "This is my mate Oscar! He's in charge of GMH and the legend that gave me the hot tip for today's episode. Tell 'em why we're here today, Oscar!"

The muffin splattered against the side of Kev's titanium jaw, leaving a smear of purple icing. Zac wiped it off and threw the cupcake away, unknowingly feeding a family of floating Munna and Musharna. 

"Not your cup of tea?" he asked with a laugh. "Don't worry mate, I've got some rock cakes too. Just wait until we get to the tunnel."

"Whoa! You took that hit like a champ!" Zac said, slapping Kaz on the back supportively. As he rubbed Kazimir's back, he pulled life from the jungle, shriveling leaves and wilting blooming flowers as he healed his friend's smashed ribs, but not his pride. 

Vines coiled up from the ground, wrapping around the ankles of the Primeape, ensnaring the furious monkey. "I think he's pretty happy picking on you, mate. These monkeys care more about strength than size. But if you give him a solid hit then he'll respect you and back off." Zac nodded towards the ensnared monkey. The vines would hold it long enough for Kazimir to land a single guarantee hit.

"Poison? What are ya talkin about mate! We put in only the freshest squeezed-" A bolt of thick, chunky lightning that broke across the beach, and Zac's sales pitch was drowned out by accompanying thunder.

His head spun around, covering his ears as the sea and sky were lit by flashes of violent lightning coming from Tapu Koko. "What's happening?" Zac tried to ask, but again the words were lost in the thunder. 

Tapu Koko had ingested both Zapsi and Charga-Cola, and had gone mad with power. The island totem spun and charged, sending Zac's Vikavolts tumbling across the beach, trailing bloody sparks. "Kaz we've got a problem!" Zac said, vastly understating the issue.

He grabbed for Pokeballs in his belt, tossing out the pair that he had brought with him. He had been expecting a quiet day on the beach, and had brought with him the Pokemon in greatest need of some R&R: Boshi and Byron.

Light formed into the burning turtle and the poison king. Nidoking Leered at the enemy, refusing to recognize its power. Boshi pulled back into his shell, far more wary than his ally. The turtle set a Shell Trap, waiting.

"I actually got Mambo after I got the sample. just gave me the sample out of the blue and asked me to grow it. The monkey came after." Zac felt fantastic too. Powerful. Full of roaring, fizzing energy, like his body was a big can of Charja-Cola. 

In excitement, he grabbed the bucket of water and poured half of it on the coals, filling the room with thick clouds of steam. He sighed, feeling right at home. "Mambo's not too bad. A bit wild though. Doug caught her in a dumpster I think. She must have been stuck in the city for a while, because she's picked up a liking for rotten fruit. The garden is full of it through, so no sweat there," he said, wiping the thick sheen of sweat off his forehead. "You said yours was rowdy? Anything I should keep an eye out for?"

"Nah we're just having fun," Zac said, starting to chew again. He pulled out the tray of muffins and offered one to the crowned Pokemon. "Get one of these in ya gob! They're full of good vibes and energy crystals," he said. 

Zac had spent a long time brainstorming how to make a food 'psychic', and this latest iteration didn't seem like winners. 

As he held out the tray, a beam of psychic energy from the bushes hit the tray, sending the muffins flying through the air. "Hey! I worked hard on those," Zac said as he picked up one of the fallen muffins. Annoyed, he hurled it into the bushes where it splattered on the rude Pokemon. He followed the attack with a Pokeball.

"You've been making quite a name for yourself!" Zac said, beaming at his former student. "A League recommendation,, battling Groudon, I hear you even called up a bloody huge vine to save the day!" Zac put both hands over his heart, grinning wildly.

They walked along Route 116, tromping along the unkempt paths as they headed towards the Rustboro Tunnel. They were out for a 'private lesson' of sorts, but right now Zac just wanted to check in with his friend. "What other madness have you been getting up to?"

Zac was out for a wander again in Route 116. After witnessing two swarms of Unown he'd been keeping his ear to the ground, and heard tell of some sightings in the locations. Nothing too recent, but even a cold lead was better than nothing. "See anything yet?" he asked Yucca the Sceptile.

She shook her head, husky scales rattling, eyes never stopping their hunt. "Well keep an eye out, if those little buggers are going to be anywhere it'll be around here." 

Zac walked east, sticking to the worn path as he headed for the Rustboro Tunnel.

"Thanks! Yeah, very celestial," Zac said, pulling down the bottom edge of his shirt, spreading out the pattern to show it off better. "Who picked it out then?" he asked , curious about her style consultant. 

A wisp of high, mocking laughter floated past, but was lost in the brusque arrival of and . He and Matias embraced tenderly, in what Zac always referred to as a 'Slateport Shuffle'. "Pleasure to meetcha mate!" Zac said, shaking Wolfgang's hand once both of his arms were free of Matias's enthusiastic dapping. "Name's Zac Ramsay, and any friend of Matias is a friend of mine."

"Bulu's fine," Zac replied to Eva, shrugging. "A bit better recently, actually. We've been trying out meditation. Getting some help from . It's really helping us to connect!" 

" !" Zac said, beaming as the fellow redhead and his hot-tempered fiancé joined the group. "Yeah I remember from the AQUA meeting," Zac said, nodding a hello. He'd never had a chance to chat to Cait one-on-one, and she had left after a rather memorable clash with the Elite Four's resident thief. "Fiancé? Congratulations mate! When did that happen?"

Zac and REM tore at the stones, ripping a hole in the side of Kazimir's impromptu mausoleum. "Kaz!" Zac called into the gap. "Hang tight, I'll make some room to get out!"

Returning REM, Zac sent out Busta. The Clawitzer wedged its claw into the unstable gap, and forced the powerful muscles open, raising the rocky ceiling upwards inch by inch. The thin slice of air and life widened, and Zac squeezed into the gap. He lay on his back, palms up against the rocks that threatened to crush him and his trapped friend. 

"Not today, buddy!" Zac said through grit teeth as he pressed upwards, forcing the rocks higher. Pain tore through his arms, fire in his blood. "Enough is enough!" Zac shouted, and he and Busta pressed higher, higher, making room for Kazimir to escape. A Heal Pulses flood the tunnel, soaking into Zac's straining body and dripping down into the dark where Kaz and the freed prisoner were huddled. 

The red thread of fate had drawn him to the trapped fugger, and the thread was strong. Zac would get his friend out. Alive. Kazimir had been wounded, blasted, crushed, maybe worse.

"No bloody pebbles are crushing my mate!"

Zac placed himself squarely in the tunnel, propping it open with his strength of will and friendly muscles. It was his turn to put his body on the line; to pay whatever price success demanded.

And there was no price too high to save their friendship. 

  • Clawitzer and Zac press the rocks up, widening the hole
  • Zac crawls into the gap, forcing it open to give Kaz and the Megalopolan a chance to escape
  • Busta uses Heal Pulse to heal Zac so he can keep the tunnel open
  • Busta uses Heal Pulse on Kaz and the Megalopolan

"You know what they look like though, right? Weird, lettery things?" Suddenly a bouncy blue baby appeared from the foliage. Zac quickly identified that it wasn't an Unown and let it be, tossing it one of the cupcakes. 

Zac noticed the Slowking chewing like him and stopped, watching the Pokemon suspiciously.

Fuggroomsmen Pyjamarriage Brodown [M]

Zac had spent all day setting up his house for the Fuggroomsmen Pyjamarriage Brodown (Fuggdown).

He lived in a discontinued Charja-Cola factory, and once the mixing tanks had been removed the place was pretty roomy! "Not bad!" he said, checking the rafters for Pidove. They were all gone. Aside from the huge, twisting pillar of Zarude vines growing out of the floor, the building was clean as anything.

Zac had bulk ordered a mountain of pillows and mattresses, and they were all set up against one wall. Nearby, there was a 'living room' with an old TV set up, showing the title screen of some ancient videoed games. Zac had gone out of his way to grab some classic titles to play with his friends. He had MINIOR, EKANS, and even FROAKER.

Behind the lounge room was a table made from empty cola crates and covered in sugary snacks, chips, and a selection of non-confrontational sodas. It wouldn't be enough to sustain their fuggathon for a whole night, but everyone had promised to bring some food and entertainment.

Silence fell, and the temperature in the sauna rose a few degrees. And then a few more. Sweat dripped down Zac's face and neck.

"Maybe it's better this way. I'm not great at speeches anyway," he lied. Zac had already prepared his wedding speech, and had been practicing it for days. Even if he wasn't certain to be picked as the Best Fugger, he had assumed that there would be a chance for all of the fuggroomsmen to speak at the wedding. 

"And we can't have the wedding party after the wedding, ay?" Zac suggested, breaking the tension. He flashed Angelo a grin and a wink. "What do ya say Mr. Dross?"
