The wind picked up, spraying Zac with hot sand. His sunglasses were immediately blown away. "No!" Zac shouted, making a frantic grab for them as they were sent tumbling along the dunes.

He winced as another wave of hot air blew sand into his eyes and mouth. "Hey Stormy," he shouted, half-blind as he clutched onto the back of Nana. "You still got those goggles?"

Above the disaster, Isaac was feeling increasingly uncertain about this. His ancient eyes followed the streaming, roasting wings of his enemy. Isaac flew between his stones, using Aqua tail to cool off and keeping away from Moltres as he built up the nerve to attack. 

Isaac used Aqua Tail (To cool off. No attack this round.)

2v2, cool kids only, some items (mainly Charja-Cola). The Final Destination. "Let's get this party on the road ay mate?" Zac said, cracking open a can and tossing one Matias' way. After the chaos of the Biome Contest, it was good to be on a beach that wasn't absolutely torn to shreds again. 

"I've got my sleepiest Bull, and by most energetic Walrus." Zac said enthusiastically. "What did you bring?"

"Bottom of the ninth," Zac said, as Buzz, his last Pokemon, zipped around the battlefield. She seemed right at home on the scorching sands. 

Zac had gotten her in a trade with , and didn't know much about her past. Maybe she had a history with Slateport Beach.

"That Magnezone of yours is a real champion," he said, grinning at Adrian. Behind him, Buzz hovered in the air for a moment before shooting off up the beach, stretching her wings.

"Can you believe it's all come down to this?" Zac said, sending out his final Pokemon. "A 6v6, and it's been neck and neck and neck the whole time! You've got a knack for this mate!" Granted, Zac wasn't much of a battler, and Tapu Bulu had gone back to sleep after three minutes, but it was still close.

Zac's last Pokemon was a bright pink Hypno. Nyx. "The best thing about Nyx is that he's a master of surprise." Zac said proudly. "Even I've got no idea what he's gonna do next!"

With that introduction, Nyx lined up and suddenly sprinted at Bo's Pokemon, his fist surging with the rising, smashing energy of a SKY UPPERCUT!

Tapu Bulu fell back into the shade of his palm tree grove, soundly defeated by Noah's last attack.
"Tapu Bulu is unable to battle!" Shouted the announcer. 

Zac wiped his forehead with one of his Lars and Articuno sweatband. They were soaked through. This is it. Down to the wire. He went to take a sip of his Charja-Cola, but the can was empty. Not only that, but Noah had defeated his Frost Rotom earlier, so all the remaining cans were warm.

"Those were some pretty slick moves you just pulled," Zac said, meeting the eyes of the other gym leader. "Good thing I saved the best for last, ay?"

Zac reached into his bag and threw out his final Pokeball. It cracked on the sand like a coconut, and a bolt of red lightning solidified into a familiar shape: Charjabug. "Go! Don!"

Tapu Bulu fainted
Zac sent out Charjabug!

"WHO'S GOING TO BE THE FIRST?" Zac called across the crowded bar, "TO TRY THE NEW CHARJA-COLA!"

He lifted up a massive crate of black and blue cans. Each of them had big 'ADULTS ONLY' sticker slapped across the front. "New Charja-Cola After Dark! Made with real darkness! It's Hoenn's first alcoholic, adults-only, sports cola!"

Zac cracked open a can, which fizzed with black foam. He took three tentative sips, and felt a warm fuzz start to crow in his cheeks. Zac didn't usually drink, but he could hardly turn down the excellent advertising opportunity.

Melody and zac vs npc's! (tag battle H✩T)

"Hell yeah!" Zac said to Melody, shouting to be heard over the crackle and boom of her Lapras' lightning. Sparks danced across the water, fading into light on the waves. "That was one satisfying lightshow!"

But the lights had only begun. Melody's lighting had just broken the seal on the brewing storm, and overhead wicked bolts cracked and crashed. "We better wrap this up quick," Zac said, making himself as small as possible. Thirty feet away, a bolt blasted one of the semi-submerged wrecks. Sneg flinched, looking around in worry. It was bad enough being the tallest tree in a storm, let alone the only tree in a sea storm!




Sneg's beating of the boat had sealed the entrances, but had smashed some smaller holes in the hull. Given half a distraction, Grapploct squeezed out, and camouflaged among the seaweed, working the paralysis out of his arms. 

Meanwhile, Bethesda sent out her second Pokemon: Cursola. "You think you two are so tough, just because you're Gym Leaders!" She shouted, consoling her crying fiancée. "Well take this! Cursola! Perish Song!"

An eerie, too-slow tune began to drift up from the water. It was in the slow churn of the waves, the pop of the sea soam, and the creak of the ships. Exeggutor shuddered.

Perish Count dropped to 3

Cursola used Perish Song!

Matias cleaned Zac's shirt!

At least, that's how it seemed at first...

As the ink leeched out of the colorful fabric, it soaked into the sand, spreading and growing as it took on a mind of its own. "Whoa! Careful mate!" Zac called, backing away as the black sphere swelled to the size of a small car. Was it feeding on Matias' own power? Was it tapping into his nascent, superior bloodline? 

The sphere grew, and Zac started to run. Exeggutor abandoned his attack on 's castle and waddled away as fast as he could. The inky orb continued to grow.



"Everyone! Come with me if you want to live!" Zac shouted, as he summoned his army of Minior. Thirteen brightly colored Minior swooped in, enough to carry away every competitor and judge. Except...where was Matias? Zac looked back to see the trustworthy competitor still scrubbing hard at the stain, despite the impending disaster.

"Mate! Don't worry about the shirt! I can just buy another one! It was only five pokebucks!" Zac shouted, but the man didn't seem to hear him. An instant later, the blackness engulfed .

Everyone else flew away on the Minior, and watched in solemn silence from a safe distance as the sphere grew larger and larger, and finally popped. 

The beach was blasted with (biodegradable) ink, and when everyone flew back to the site of the contest, they found that Matias and his Dragonair were alive, if unconscious, and covered in black goop. Somehow, Matias had also lost his pants in the explosion.

"I knew I smelled something fishy! And it turns out it wasn't just the tide pools!" Zac said, turning on Matias. The poor competitor was like a Feebas caught in a Stunfisk trap. "The bonus points were just a bluff! Everyone knows you only get points for biome usage. This round had no bonus points!"

"However," Zac said, pulling off his still ink soaked shirt to reveal a pristine, laminated shirt underneath, "I appreciate the sentiment, so if you can sort out those stains you'll be back in my good books." Zac gave Matias a wink. "Honesty is always rewarded, but hard work is what really pays dividends."

"Dammit Kyle! Again?" Zac asked , trying to wipe some of the staining ink off his second ruined shirt. "I hope this washes out!"

As if on schedule, the heavens opened, drenching Zac in fresh summer rain, that informed him was from 's Dragonair. "Thanks Sam! Just in time. That's gotta be worth some bonus points."

Within Kyle's castle, the ice around Sneg cracked and shattered. The palm tree slammed back and forth, breaking apart the sandcastle as it tore free of its buried prison. As it shook, leech seeds scattered throughout the area, burying themselves along the beach. Sneg drew on the seeds, sipping veins of green healing. "And he's back in the fight!" Zac called, overjoyed to see Sneg had thawed. 

The tree set its sights on 's castle.

The flash of sudden lightning blinded Feraligatr! The croc stumbled around, stomping wildly as she tried to hit her downed opponent. "In front of you! More to the left!" Zac shouted helpfully. Natsuki raised a heavy, clawed foot above Blastoise, right as the turtle spun around and swept her other leg out from under her. 

Natskui hit the deck with a thud and a long, reptilian groan. She climbed to her knees. She shook her head, trying to clear it of the thudding. She blinked, fast and useless. Her vision was still filled with white patches and burned afterimages. "In front of you!" Zac called, and Natsuki launched herself clumsily forward in a blind BODY SLAM!

Skyler's slippery shot was one hell of a return. The sopping wet Togedemaru soared towards the sands. "Tempi! Get in there!" Zac called, pointing out the incoming ball to the moistest member of his squad. The athletic amphibian sprinted forwards and dove under the incoming ball, taking the full brunt of the attack right to his face/belly. The hit slammed him into the sound, cratering the court!

"Nice try Sky, but Tempi is a master of taking heavy hits from wet balls!" Zac said, truthfully. Poliwrath's WATER ABSORB kicked in, drying out the Togedemaru to a usable moisture level. At the same time, Poliwrath's belly stiffened, bouncing the stored energy from the hit back into the ball. 



Zac whistled as the prone BODY SLAM sent the ball soaring high into the sky and back over the net. 

Next to the announcer, a little timer ticked down. In 30 seconds, the hazards would begin.
