Big Habanero flinched as Vulpix's mental assault prodded at old wounds in their psyche. Mario, especially, as he had suffered the full extent of michiko maeda 's Skitty's power during their Dream Battle.

The pair pulled back, unsure of their next move. Facing down a furious fox in the dark without any firepower was a nightmare for most birds. Where was their backup? Where was Isaac?

Isaac bit at his other wing, igniting the fireworks and unleashing another salvo, this time a sputtering shower of two-stage blues and green-yellow poppers with delayed fuses. They lit up Sam's side of the beach in ocean tones.

He controlled the skies, alone and unchallenged. Millions of years of evolution and he was still the dominant aerial force. If only there were someone who could face up against his unparalleled-

The whirling twister of bloody gold light streaked up from the sands, bursting against Aerodactyl's russet skin.

Isaac's screeched his defeat. It was an avalanche of pain and frustration, it was the rumble of falling stone, and the quick-cut shout of a life cut short.

Dim sparks fell from his scorched hide, tumbling like heart's blood through the salty air, only to be extinguished in the cold, lonely sand. The dimming ash lit a dull runway for Isaac's final landing.

Isaac wings gave out. They crumpling like paper, and he tumbled downward into the waiting earth, carving himself a shallow grave in the wet sand. Seawater fill the crater around Aerodactyl's fallen body, as his wing fizzled out. The crooked membranes would forever carry the un-lit fireworks. Soaked and abandoned, liked dreams in the waves.

Big Habanero heard the cry from Isaac. He felt the shudder run through the sand, and he watched a single, jittering firework, (Isaac's soul?) Streak across the battlefield towards Sam's team. The shot had gone wide. An imperfect final act. A single blemish on the record of such a perfect, rocky angel.

Doduo saw their chance. They turned, frantic footfalls carving up the sand as they hurtled away from the cold winds of the fight. PLAP PLAP PLAP! With a deep, muffled honk Big Habanero sprang from the sand with vigor, powerful legs propelling them up towards the stars, and into the path of Isaac's final spark!

Isaac's shot streaked past, igniting the dull candles of River and Mario. The twins landed, wicks lit, and pelted back towards Sam, beaks blazing.

Zac wandered across the beach, checking out the combatants. In addition to his fresh, Kyle-themed shirt, he wore a pair of sandstorm goggles, and was drinking an extra-gritty Charja-Cola.

"Nice castle Kyle!" Zac called, wandering closer to kyle lopez's poisonous construction. It was holding up well against the sandstorm. He tossed the champ an unopened can of Kyle Krush. "Solid foundation, nice use of natural materials. You and Remoraid are a dangerous pair!"

But Zac wasn't just here to inepct and prise, and he had more up his sleeve than Biome Badges and Charja-Cola. To put it as Kyle would, he had 'high pressure and actual force'. "Looks pretty sturdy. Let's put it to the test, ay?"

The sand shuddered, and from within the swirling sandstorm emerged a tree. Despite missing a few of its heads from chryssa glasgow's Jynx's attack, Sneg still had a great view of the fight. He staggered closer, his wide eyes full of sand and his bright green palm-frond hair waggling playfully in the storm.

Sneg saw the castle. It was a clear and blatant attempt to challenge his vertical supremacy. The tree waddled faster, his chunky feet dragging wide prints through the sand.

Now within hammering range, Sneg dug his feet into the ground. He carved out a hole for his trunk, and sat down. He rocked back and forth, using his hole in the sand to keep him from falling over as he built up momentum like a flexible, palm tree drinky bird. Back and forth. Back and forth.

Sneg's head took on a metallic sheen, his glossy green fronds gleaming like oxidized copper. His long neck whipped back and forth, until with a creak and an audible groan, Sneg brought his Iron Head down on Kyle's castle.

"It's okay, Isaac doesn't have Pressure either!" Zac said, as his Aerodactyl came soaring into the battlefield. The ancient Pokemon was, ironically, rather spry, having only been revived recently. "The last thing I want to do is insult Moltres," Zac said earnestly, already feeling his body temperature rise as the air around him started to bake. The second to last thing he wanted to do was get any closed to the flaming menace.

Isaac the flying rock beat the baked air with heavy wings, approaching Moltres. As it did, thousands of jagged, fist-sized stones rose with it. The Stealth Rocks scattered throughout their aerial arena, making it hard to maneuver without running into them.

ZAC VS. EVA (H✩T)

"Uh, yeah maybe for a little bit," Zac admits. He had been so caught up in all the recent events that he hadn't realized how far his living situation had fallen. He had brushed off a few weeks spent sleeping in a hammock between two mixing tanks as just another spot of 'urban camping'. "That would be really nice, actually. Thanks Eva." He smiled at her, and felt a previously unnoticed weight lift from his shoulders.

Meanwhile, Nana was pulled into the surprise Hurricane. With little momentum of her own, she couldn't fight the strong winds, and was hurled around in the column of air. The whirling threw off her internal gyroscope, and Zac winced as she fell from the sky and landed on the sands with a heavy thud. "You okay Nana?" he asked, running over to check on the bird. Aside from being a bit cross-eyed and battered, she looked fine. Nothing broken. Probably. Besides, if there was any real damage done then who better to have on hand than Eva!

"Great match!" Zac said, shaking the doctor's hand. "Time for a swim?" Behind him, Nana got unsteadily to her feet, shook off the sand, and made her way eagerly towards the water.

Big Habanero was a seasoned battler. He was used to fighting fire with flying. Granted, maybe he wasn't used to fighting with fireworks, but with all the fire flying around it was basically the same thing.

HMMMMMMK! River said, his war cry muffled by the huge candle in his mouth. Beside him, his twin brother Mario nodded bobble-headedly in agreement. The wicks of the fireworks fizzed in their beaks, shortening by the second. In moments the attack would begin.

Like feathered assassins, they approached Sam's team, only to be repelled by a blast of Icy Wind that put out their fireworks! River started to sweat. This was bad. Bad bad bad. They needed to find a way to relight their weapons or else they were just sitting Duckletts!

Overhead, Isaac the Aerodactyl beat the smoky air with his ancient wings. Zac had managed to take fireworks all along the creature's wings, and he bit at one of the packs with a Fire Fang, unleashing a salvo of fireworks on Sam's team from above. They whizzed and spiraled, breaking off into little, fizzing lines of gold and purple.

Melody and zac vs npc's! (tag battle H✩T)

"Nice one Melody!" Zac called across the water. Below them, the enemy Feraligatr and Grapploct had taken refuge in the metal wreck. Now it was time to seal them inside.

Sneg lumbered forward, his dinosaur feet stomping slowly along the sandy bottom. He reached the ship, and his heads took on a harsh, metallic sheen. "Sneg! Close off the exits!" Zac shouted, and the Pokemon slammed its head underwater. The mess of fronds and coconut heads sunk like a dropped anvil, slamming into the metal of the ship and warping it brutally. Doors and windows were caved in, and the underwater habitat was pummeled into a tin can prison. Zac could hear dull clanging from inside as Feraligatr slammed against one of the bent exits.

"They're stuck inside! Nice work Sneg! Melody, it's all you mate. Use Thunderbolt!"

Sneg used Iron Head on the ship
He sealed off all the exits, trapping Feraligatr and Grapploct inside

"That's the core, yeah," Zac said, grabbing up some of the Kalos candles before Sam could take them all. "Two second cooldown between hits, if you're hit you're out, and if the police catch us we say these are from Stormy Silph . Deal?"

Zac sprinted off into the darkness, Groudon Cannon on his shoulder and Sam's assumed agreement firmly fixed in his mind. Zappa's broad feet slapped the sand, and once they got to a safe distance he handed out the artillery. "Isaac, attack from above. Barker, lay down cover fire. Big Hanabero, you dual-wielding son of a Dodrio, you're the strike team. Get in there and cause some havoc. Zappa, you're with me!"

With their roles set, the group scattered. Barker's tongue flicked out, igniting a handful of fireworks and sending them soaring towards Sam's team. The exploding barrage lit the night and painted the beach in brilliant, multicolored sparks.

"-and here's the goods," Zac said, dropping the crate onto the cooling sand. It was well past dark, and the Slateport police were busy with something on the other side of the city. A 'reputable source' had given them a 'hot tip', and had also 'bribed' them with 'a shitload of Charja-Cola Kyle Krush'.

The redheaded giant pulled the cover off the crate, revealing a gunpowder cornucopia that stunk of well-spent childhood summers. "We've got poppers, snaps, parachutes, spindas, fountains, Kalos candles, Sevipers, and strobes," Zac said, pointing at each of brightly colored packets as he named them. "And this," he said, hefting the largest of the fireworks onto his shoulder like a bazooka, "is the GROUDON CANNON! Apparently it's what killed Bailey Cooper !"

Amor vs Zac (H✩T)

"Give me a rock and I can build a castle," Zac repeated. "I like that! And I bet it's true, too. You seem a resourceful guy. Hey, here's a hot tip." Zac handed Amor a card. It was his Gym Leader business card, and contained a link to the Lavaridge Gym website. "There's lots of good footage in there. Even some of Moltres!"

He motioned for Amor to turn over the card. "I don't have any more of Burdock, but there's a link to my professional site on the back. I've got a ton of archived footage from my battle with Bulu at the Vital Spirit festival. That'll give your research a bit of a kick I bet!"

"He's pretty gentle, really," Zac said, looking out over the ocean. "Burdock. She's just protective. I doubt she'd ever do real damage. But you never know." He shrugged. "Better to be safe."

Zac extended a massive hand to shake with Amor. "Great battle mate. Put 'er there! And you let me know if you ever need more footage. I'm sure I can rustle up some of the good stuff to send your way."
