It had been a a couple of weeeks since that mess happened.

Many lives had been lost— All due to a terrorist attack from the nefarious team rocket, of course, according to the Mossdeep City PD.

Gwyar hadn't had much input into it. He had been... off since then. Polite as ever, but his smile was notably empty, and his head appeared to be in the clouds.

Enough so that the top brass had taken over the handling of that catastrophe.

For the most part.

"Apologies for requesting you on such short notice, Mr. Slayte." The officer said as the appraiser finally arrived.

A man with a seemingly unending list of qualifications, the largest amount of logged excavations in Hoenn as of april 2024— and also an appraiser found on old phone books, for some reason.

"Please, do follow me." Gwyar said simply.

They were in Mossdeep's docks.

As if to snarl at Howard in the face, the goods he had fairly acquired and the police had unfairly stolen had been relocated to... the warehouse directly besides the original one.

"Come on in." Gwyar said, casually throwing open the double steel doors of the warehouse. "Everything here has been logged. If I can be of any help, let me know."

The top brass didn't want him back on the field until he got his head out of the clouds anyway.

COMMUNITY STADIUM, MOSSDEEP CITY, 6:20 P. M.


Attendance was high. Gwyar didn't know how much of it was due to Fernando's popularity, and how much it was due to his notoriety.

The energy was good, if nothing else— Mossdeep's citizenry was not particularly maligned towards the league, as far as Hoenn cities went.

Still— security was tighter than usual, just in case.

Subtly so. His Aegislash would handle things silently. No need to scare the civilians— or alert any possible bad actors.

"Councilman Silph." Gwyar greeted the man at the door, his gym staff flanking him. They all bowed at the waist politely. "Thank you once again, for dedicating time out of your busy schedule to Hoenn's citizens."

Unlike in previous arrangements, this time they were at the front gates of the community stadium— as was to be perhaps expected, news anchors and paparazzi's alike flanked the pathway leading inside, all chomping at the bit to ask the councilman... anything, really.

They were being kept at bay (barely) by a barrier and the gym's staff. They would have to hold strong— Gwyar certainly wasn't going to hurry Fernando along.

"All preparations have been made, as per your instructions." The blonde said, before stepping aside and gesturing towards the doors. "Please, follow me."

COMMUNITY STADIUM, MOSSDEEP CITY, 5:22 P. M.

"Sheriff." Gwyar said, raising his gaze from a tablet and smiling at the other. "It's good to see you again."

He stretched his hand out to the Elite 4 member.

They stood at the back entrance of the community stadium, away from the public's eye. Gym staff and others were running around taking care of preparations.

Each seminar had more attendants than the last— word of mouth spread quickly, and FOMO helped along as well.

LEAGUE & LEARN was going well.

"Preparations are still underway, but it shouldn't be long now." He said, before gesturing for the man to follow him inside. "Are you hungry?"

They had snacks in the lounge.

COMMUNITY STADIUM, MOSSDEEP CITY, 6:03 P. M.

"Ah, Mr. Maher!" Gwyar greeted at the other man's arrival, looking up from a tablet in his hand. "So glad you could make it!"

A rotom 's head briefly popped out of the tablet's screen, joining the blonde in greeting the other gym leader. They stood on the back entrance of the community stadium, surrounded by working staff.

Not a small amount of them paused to mutter and point as the champion walked around.

"I hope you're feeling well— The crowd is quite excited!" The blonde said, holding out a hand to the other. "Oh— preparations were made as you requested, by the way. Everything should go smoothly."

The first LEAGUE & LEARN seminars with Greyson Connors and FERNANDO SILPH had been a smashing success. The people of mossdeep— and hoenn at large— were eager to get a chance at learning from the pros.

And who better to feature next, after an Elite 4 member and Hoenn's longest serving gym leader, than its very own Vital City Tournament Champ— the Triple H.

Ft. Greyson Connors

COMMUNITY STADIUM, MOSSDEEP CITY, 6:01 P. M.

"Good evening, Mr. Greyson." Gwyar said, extending out his hand to the man. "We're glad you could make it."

They stood outside of the Mossdeep City Community Stadium— otherwise known as the Mossdeep City Gym premises by the locals.

Gwyar and his team of gym staff had waited outside to recieve the renown member of the Elite 4.


"We cannot thank you enough for making time for Mossdeep City— I can only imagine how busy your schedule is." The blonde said, stepping aside to invite the man into the gym's lobby.

Inside, the gym trainers and other staffers were running about making sure everything was ready. The video and audio teams in charge of the stadium's audiovisual systems weren't immediately seen, but their presence could be felt in the number of Rotom-drones and rotom-phones flying about the place.

Inside the stadium proper— and beyond the one-sided glass windows— the people awaiting for Greyson and Gwyar (but mostly Greyson) could be seen.

Attendance was higher than usual.

Gwyar could see more than a few new faces, both to the seminars and to Mossdeep city in general, and the stadiums seats were actually filled a respectable amount, given how long it had been since the city had hosted any significant tournaments.

So far, everything was going according to plan. Now, they just had to make sure of turning a good number of the new attendees into regulars, and/or better yet— willing promoters and word of mouthers.

For the moment, the staffers around Gwyar and Greyson spread out to work once again, leaving the gym leader and the Elite 4.

Gwyar smiled at the man, folding his arms behind his back.

"There's still time before you take the stage." He said. "Everything has been prepared in advance as you requested."

Gwyar tilted his head.

"Is that right?" Gwyar asked, before raising a hand. "From my point of view, you had all the tools you needed. It was not Snorlax's moveset or shortcomings that you did you two in— it was impatience."

He could think of a few other things too, but nevermind that.

"At the beginning of the battle, Revavroom used Magnet Rise." He said. "In that moment, you gave up on using Earthquake at all, and it wasn't until I coaxed you that you utilized it for a purpose beyond a direct offensive."

She had re-structured the field with it.

Gwyar folded his arms behind his back.

"As you saw, Earthquake can be utilized in a myriad of ways. Just as you used it to change the battlefield— it could've been used to create barriers and protect Snorlax— or to further slow and entrap Revavroom."

After all, eventually— Magnet rise had to end— as it had. Though by then, Snorlax had been too injured.

"I cannot say with absolute certainty how things would've gone, but I do believe if you had taken a more patient, defensive approach, given your Snorlax's attributes, your chances of victory would've been considerable."

"So it has. Apologies— I've been a busy bee." Gwyar said as they arrived at the end of their path. "And I tend to focus on my work. Can't be too careful in Hoenn."
No hallucinations, no giant beasts— just resources, free for the taking.

Hoisting the drill he had been given by the league off his shoulder and into his hand, he approached a tera-crystal vien, and began to work.
