Gwyar resisted the urge to so much as lax his grip on the other as they struggled, loudly, savagely, viciously, against him, kicking and scratching and, he suspected if they could, biting and screaming as well.

But all humans require oxygen. It was only a matter of time.

13... 14... 15.

It took 10 to 20 seconds of a well applied chokehold for a victim to pass out. Gwyar liked to stay in the safe range of around 15 if he wanted/needed them alive, and somewhere around a couple of minutes if he wanted them dead.

Still, he had to be careful if he wanted this person to stay unconscious; if he released him too immediately, he would snap awake in about eight seconds.

Looking around, the man was careful as he dragged the unconscious body off the beaten path. So long as nobody found him, league or rocket, they should both be fine...

But for good measure, he slapped a pair of handcuffs onto his wrists before leaving him on his side behind some bushes and tombstones.

"... His breathing sounds... about as well as one could expect." Considering his nose might be broken... but his chest seemed to be filling up fine, sooo...

He turned on his heel and faced towards the peak.

Nothing left in his way.

"Best not to keep anyone waiting."

Uncoordinated swings slapped against Gwyar's stomach, hips, and indeed, crotch as the man lifted the younger man up.

Muscle, bone, loin guard— it wasn't looking good for the rocket, and Gwyar was not enjoying even a second of it.

Normally, crunching bone was a relieving, if not particularly enjoyable sensation, if only because it brought a confrontation one step closer to its end.

Gwyar did not particularly enjoy fighting people much smaller and less experienced than him, however. Being gifted with a large size was helpful, but his conscience couldn't help but rear in its ugly head in circumstances such as this.

God, this young man would really have done him a favor if he just stayed down and didn't get up from his next blow.

"Please... Just stay down." Gwyar said softly as he suddenly spun the young man around, before suddenly wrapping his arms around his neck, clamping around it and beginning to squeeze.

The chokehold's countdown began.

'They are not wrong.' Gwyar thought wryly as he stared at the splayed out figure of the rocket with a half grimace.

He got some physical feedback when pulling off such stunts on people— the somewhat thin person had felt rather light.

If they had known what was good for them, they would've stayed down. They had put up a fight and gotten KO'd; far as 'duty' was concerned', they had tried.

But that was not what they did. Gwyar felt a small measure of respect for the smaller person as they forced themselves back up.

Respect, and a little frustration. As they came charging at him, he observed with wide open eyes, releasing a soft grunt when they suddenly ducked low. This wasn't going to end well.

His legs moved reflexively and much like as if someone had gone for a shot to the crotch, his knee snapping up towards the approaching youth's masked face as his arms dropped low, attempting to grab at the shoulder-fabric of their clothes.

His pen hung over the page briefly as she recounted her... pitiable family circumstances, his expression a careful mask for the pity he felt well up in his chest.

Her problems hadn't started with tonight's tragedy, it seemed.

Her words hanging in the air briefly until a hasty apology was given— he did his best to smile.

"There's no need to apologize, Ms. Erling." He said, watching her curl up into a little ball with a measure of sympahy in his eyes. "You've been through a lot."

He didn't bother with asking why she had come to Sootopolis; he snuffed out the mild suspicion in his chest. For once, rocket was a secondary concern.

"Unova is quite a ways off." The man said, chuckling. "Lilycove, eh? That's rather close."

He cupped his chin, brow furrowing in thought as he closed his pad and turned his gaze away, eyes sweeping over the crowd of people around them. What few Sootopolis officers remained and the local health centers nursing staff were hard at work looking over the people most affected.

It didn't seem like any of them would be able to see this young woman to her home, and he didn't want her to make the trip alone; not while in such a state.

"Right then. I'll let the chief know I'll be dropping you off at your home." The man said, grunting as he rose back to his full height. "I'll be back with you shortly."

He turned to leave.

"I see." Gwyar said. His march began to pick up in speed, his polite smile slowly dissolving into a focused stare. "Unfortunate."

He was in a rush, for once, saying the region's fate hung in the balance was not an exaggeration. He needed to deal with this person expeditiously.

"I'm afraid I'll have to get rough, then. My apologies." He said honestly. And with that, he rushed the smaller man, deceptively fast for a man his size, closing the distance between them in an instant.

He did not stop— it was a full body tackle.

He didn't know who this was, which meant, naturally, that they were a rocket.

Pretty poor timing. Gwyar couldn't help but steal glances to the peak of Mt. Pyre, briefly considering just bolting before dismissing the idea.

Best to deal with whoever this youngster was now than to lead them back to the machine.

"I don't suppose you could just let me pass without following." The blonde asked politely.

Gwyar & Oliver Shrakes vs declan walsh

He couldn't help but sigh lowly, teeth grit now that he and Mr. Shrakes were well and truly alone. They hadn't managed to stop declan walsh. No, they hadn't even managed to scratch him. Gwyar wasn't even sure if they had been wasting his time, or if he had been wasting theirs.

And worse yet, the officers of Sootopolis would be dealing with the repercussions of directly crossing him.

And yet.

"That is just another burden I'll have to carry." The knight said as the Rocket Boss disappeared. The consequences of inaction would've been much greater... he knew.

Oliver made no comments on the matter; he simply charged forth, ready to climb all the way back up to the peak. He supposed that was the right attitude to have.

Grabbing his phone, the man texted a quick report to the Chief of Sootopolis PD before turning his gaze back towards the peak of Pyre, brow furrowed.

Consequences be damned, there was no stopping now. He palmed his Gardevoir's premier ball and teleported ahead. There was much ground to cover.

Gwyar vs Adrian Malcolm

A man of his word, eh? Truly sad to see him lost to that group.

Gwyar thought he saw something in those eyes; not just emotion, but something that sent chills down his spine and froze his core. But there was no time to think about it, about what it meant.

His children still awaited his return back home, and he had no intention of disappointing them.

"Indeed." His opponent didn't have any intention to fight, and he had no time to lose. "Gawain. We're moving."

The Gallade's eyes were aglow with magenta as it prepared to retaliate against the climbing flora yet again when his brother's voice cut through the air.

He met eyes with the Vileplume for another moment before bounding off back to Gwyar.

"I pray that Rocket, too, is keeping whatever it promised you in return, Mr. Malcolm." Gwyar said as he walked past the young man. "It is my honest belief that a man's word should not be worth more than his principles."

The knight was joined by his bounding Gallade a moment later, the pokemon looking at the young man in the eye before simply nodding and moving on.

"Hoh! How bold!" Laughed the man as @isaac came barreling past on his rampaging Tauros, triggering every single bomb on the way. That was certainly a way to cut one's time, he would give them that!

But it sure left him in a pickle. They couldn't just stay behind like this. They were supposed to make everyone eat their dust!

"Surely we haven't peaked just yet?" He muttered humorously at the mare, grinning. "We're barely over 35!"

The horse huffed stubbornly at those words. Right! She was still in her prime, damn it! She wouldn't lose a race to anyone, let alone these greenhorns!

Neighing spiritedly, the rapidash took to the half-pipe u-turn with gusto, maintaining forward momentum through sheer speed and grit as her powerful stomps marked the racetrack.
