"Sir Police Deputy to you." The knight briefly cut the other with as most confidence as he could muster.

Sweat dripped down Gwyar's cheek as he caught his Alcremie in his hands, the league duo finding themselves at a stalemate with the Rocket Boss ever so briefly, the man's taunts hanging in the air and making the knight's jaw tighten.

Protecting Sootopolis wasn't his true imperative, but it wasn't like the rocket boss was wrong. No matter how many heads Gwyar knocked together every day, how many thugs he threw in the jail cells, it was all for naught in a city controlled by the criminals themselves. A growing, gnawing frustration for the blonde.

And then, once again by the power of his damned avatar powers, two pokemon were out without much warning, and a wave of toxic sludge had been whipped up against him, threatening to very well kill him as it barreled towards him, spilling down the Mt. Pyre's staircase.

He realized what this meant before his sword had even moved, but it was too late to stop Galatine.

She acted on her own judgement as she had been trained to, busying herself with his protection as she whipped up a King's shield between him and the toxic waste.

But essentially leaving Oliver on his own.

"Shrakes, do—" His words were cut short when the redhead proved to be one step ahead than perhaps either of the older men might've expected, artfully dodging the Gliscor's strike before throwing out his pokemon.

Gwyar's head swiftly switched gears; the youth was more capable of protecting himself than either of the two 'old men' had given him credit for—

Best to assist now!

"—not stop! Cake, DECORATE!" Shouted the knight as he swung his arm up once more, sending his cake pokemon high in the air.

She flung a plethora of cake toppings like bullets at Oliver's Intelleon, the little sugary stickers attaching to the gecko's back in cutesy, pretty patterns.

And somehow, immediately bolstering the water-type's special attack prowess by several measures.

Gwyar vs Adrian Malcolm

"Do I? My apologies, my biases must be showing." The man said with a hearty laugh as the winds picked up atop Mt. Pyre, whipped up by the Vileplum's bizarre powers.

Gwyar had been to the Tiered Tea Room's himself however— he wasn't completely ignorant.

But Gwyar wasn't the one fighting, Gawain was— and he seemed to want no part of that storm.

The Gallade moved sharply, blurring out of sight as he darted from row to row of slabs and stones, letting them take on the damage for him as he disappeared behind the rock, dust and debris.

"It's been a while since I've spoken to an eloquent rocket, so please indulge me in a little philosophical exercise, Mr. Malcolm!" Gwyar's voice rose over the cacophony of the pokemon battle, patronizing, the nearest dust clearing to reveal that unlike his pokemon, he refused to move an inch. "Tell me— What does a world under rocket's government look like?"

What exactly was team rocket promising their loyal grunts— promising the doubtful people of Hoenn?

"Does that mean Raki's not playing with his friend again?" The blonde 'asked' with a chuckle, his march undeterred. "Alright, alright. If you're certain those space rocks are worth risking millions of lives for, I suppose I should honor your commitment to the rocket cause with my best."

When it came to undermining one's own marketing, Team rocket remained unbeatable.

"I've lost my favorite watch, my coat was burnt to a crisp and now, My daughter's favorite boy band is being disbanded— " The man rolled his eyes as his arm snapped straight, a shrunken Luxury Ball slipping out of his sleeve and growing to full size in his palm. "Today's just full of disappointments."

A blue Gallade took to the scene, eyes gleaming with focus as he took his opponent— and snorted at the sight, tilting his head.

A child and a weed? Rocket was really scrapping the bottom of barrel here, huh?

"But— I appreciate the courtesy, if nothing else."

I've only dealt with precious few Ultra Beasts in my time, but I've read a little on the subject matter. I'm quite fond of the one denominated 'UB-04: Blade'— Kartana.

Last it happened, I retired from my career and became more involved with my family.

I recently took into botany (Elisabeth Fiorelli); I wouldn't call it important, but I find it helps me deal with the stress of work quite well. It can quite calming.

I've a few habits most would call hobbies, but I cannot call a daily, regular occurrence a hobby.

Societal preconceptions of physical attractiveness work just fine for me.

Character matters little nowadays.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head. Someone hurting my daughters, to be certain, but the possibility is low enough as to be negligible. As to how to temper one's anger, 'tis merely a matter of keeping perspective.

Ginger tea. Someone I used to know liked it a lot— and my daughters share that fondness for it.

Well... shit.

Gwyar couldn't help but be morbidly fascinated as Caladbolg cut through the rocket boss like he weren't even there. Literally.

Intangibility, really? Bloody avatars.

As Declan Walsh melted into his own shadow, Gwyar was left dealing with a Hypno instead, gritting his teeth as a dark wave flowed out from the psychic and into his sword. A moment later, he saw the metallic guard twist ever so slightly around the gem-eye, as if to frown.

Oh for fuck's sake.

The man released a sharp, shrill whistle as he sheathed the sword with one hand and threw a pokeball high in the air with the other.

"Dazzling Gleam!" Ordered the man before his Alcremie had even finished taking form, the sentient little cake's aromatic fragrance overflowing into the field as she spread out her arms and cried out, glittering lights blinking about her form briefly before a burning bright exploded out of her, cutting through the mist in sharp flashes.

Gwyar looked around wildly about, trying to find Walsh anywhere— and only seeing him over behind Oliver a moment later.

At the peak of Mt. Pyre, a shadowy figure had heard the whistle and seen the sharp flashes. It began its descent, flowing between the crags of the mountain with single minded purpose.

-Alcremie takes the stage! Aroma veil covers the field as it uses dazzling gleam to 'attack' Hypnos(?) and 'reveal' Walsh's location(?)
-No, it's actually a signal/landmark for Galatine (who was still at the primal point in the machine's shadows) to join the fight! Gwyar needs a less angry sword.

Gwyar vs Adrian Malcolm

"You don't look like you want to be here, young man." The large man said as he sauntered up the stairs of Mt. Pyre, eyes razor sharp on Adrian's own as he made his way back towards the top.

He had been given a mission and he would see it through. He had his own pride as a professional. Having parted ways with Oliver May after their brief bout with the Rocket Boss, declan walsh, the man had leisurely made his way back to the top, finding that the stairs were strangely clear while everyone else was fighting each other.

Everyone else save this young man.

"If you want to leave, I'll not stop you." He said, recognizing just who he was looking at. Boldly, he had foregone any attempts at masking himself.

Such a multi talented, successful lad; he truly couldn't comprehend how some folk became rocket at times.

"By the way... How's Pancham doing, Mr. Adrian?"

"Tch." Seemed like running his mouth wouldn't keep the rocket boss talking.

More importantly, King's shield wouldn't last forever, and he hated heat. Worse yet, a Nidoking was a terrible match up against Caladbolg; the King of the Savannah had almost universally perfect resistances against the shining sword's coverage options.

He hugged his coat tightly to his form as cracks' began to form around the King's shield barrier, legs spreading wide underneath him as he leaned his weight forward, lowering his sword to his side and breathing deeply.

"Mr. Shrakes." Gwyar said whispered lowly so only Oliver could hear, his mind flying through the briefing documents and landing on the mugshot of a red haired youth, his list of pokemon and their abilities listed on the papers. "When the barrier breaks— I implore you, use roar."

His grip on the Aegislash tightened.

"I won't waste the chance."

And with that promise, the cracks on the barrier grew, until—!!!

Crack—!

Several things happened all at once.

The Knight leapt forth into the burning sands with grit teeth as the barrier broke, his thick cloak burning away as he pointd Caladbolg at the Rocket Boss and it exploded like a flashbang into sharp, irresistible light, seeking to blind Walsh and his Nidoking both.

And the booming roar of Oliver's Rockruff parted the sea of scalding desert to blow the Nidoking out of the knight's way— while also pushing forth the knight like a tailwind, accelerating him forward until the wind and sand battering at his cheeks made them flap.

Accelerated before the Rocket boss hopefully while he was still reeling from the light, the Knight swung his shining sword at the man with mouth clamped shut and eyes wide open in focus.

tl;dr:
-King shield breaks. Gwyar's cloak is burnt to a crisp and he takes on some burns himself.
-Gwyar leapt forward into the sand while using (illuminate strengthed??? xD) Spotlight on Walsh at the same time Oliver used Roar on Nidoking! Hopefully it blinded them or something?
-The shockwave of the roar accelerate Gwyar towards Walsh, were he takes a swing at the Rocket Boss with the Illumina Aegislash.

Somehow, he didn't expect the answer to change much, even in her current state. But he dared to hope for his guts to be proven wrong. This looked like she was barely out of college; much too young to already be all alone in the world.

Chapter 1: Cobalion & the Sword Dancer Melody Miro.

"Yes well, you and your teacher gave me a lot to think about." Gwyar said, smiling as he began sorting through his notes until he reached the very beginning. "As for the first thing I noticed..."

He considered how to voice his observations politely. Then gave up.

"You're out of shape." Gwyar said with a refreshingly blunt smile. "Or rather, you're not in a good enough shape to practice your own style."

He had concluded that the best way to get the point across was to be direct.

"Though dancing itself is taxing, realize that you're not dancing, you're fighting." He said simply. "It's not enough to perform the steps or swing the sword perfectly. The ideal tempo, I realized while I watched, is much faster and more intensive."

Historically, sword dances had cultural, theatrical and ritualistic applications; rarely did they ever see true combat. He would've dismissed the potential out of hand usually, but... there was something... inspiring in the way Melody had moved; he did not see her getting stabbed in the back midattempt at her techniques.

He instead saw a faster turn, a deeper lunge, an acrobatic sweep, of all things. Things that he would never think to take seriously in orthodox swordsmanship seemed possible, if she trained hard enough.

Rather than push Melody away from what would seem like a dead end—

"But I can fix all of that easily enough." He said. "In fact— I've already thought up a training regimen and appropriate diet."

He would lead her through the path until to the end, standing right besides her.

CHASE FOR THE SILPH CUP

A well timed jump landed him and Llamrei ahead of Julia Davis— meaning, that they were now in first place.

"Well, it's only natural, isn't it?!" The man asked boisterously to his rapidash, who simply neighed her agreement, a confident look in her eye as she stepped on the gas harder.

It wasn't enough to just be on first place— she wanted to leave a large gap between her and the rest of the competition! Hell, she was going to lap them all!

Perhaps a little cocky, but spirit was everything in these races!

"To the right!" Boomed the man with a large grin, leaning his body to the side as the Rapidash took to the sharp turns as she had before, glowing horn tracing her path on the map. "We're never getting rid of that move."
