The frosted fists slam into the Spectreir, sending the stallion reeling back and into the PHANTOM PLANE. His form disappears in dark wisps that blend with the ever-present mist of the ULTRA DEEP SEA.

Lex knew exactly where the cargo was. A few more steps led her right to it. Her fingertips brushed against the hard case and she snatched it without hesitation. She took off again, grinning widely, “Later, loser,” she snaps back as she materializes out of the smoke of the SCATTERBANG to make her get away. A sharp whistle calls the Spectreir back to her. The stallion reappears by her side, cantering to keep up while she tries to swing herself and the cargo onto their back and make a break for it.

He did seem different than the others, but to her, his title had dangerous implications with power and loyalty not bound to her. If given the right opportunity, she believed any of them would turn on her in a split second. History had a funny way of repeating itself. If she let herself believe for just one second getting close to any of them made a difference, then her armor would be penetrated, and she’d be setting herself up for betrayal.

“I’ll play my part,” and she does it well, “But that doesn’t mean I have to play nice with others,” a grin twitches at her lips, “Best to not have friends in this business.”

Betrayal, death, vulnerability - that’s not how one survives in this world.

Pain burns up her leg, clouding her judgment and her mind. The Beast stumbles back, looking to find purchase on the injured ankle that gives out beneath her weight. She falls down with a loud, pained grunt. She wouldn’t be able to pursue a fleeing Lam with this ankle.

The SPOTLIGHT shines bright on the gorey scene surrounding the Gardevoir. She hisses, snapping her gaze up from her meal in defiance and warning that the interruption is not appreciated. Regardless, she would be momentarily stuck there, paralyzed by the Shinx’s SPOTLIGHT until she could come to Lex’s aid and TELEPORT them back to a Rocket encampment for medical attention.

There was only one person that knew her - truly knew her. Only one person she ever let herself get close enough to to be vulnerable. In the end, that was a mistake. He was her biggest weakness, and likely would always be despite his sudden disappearance from her life. They had plans, big plans. Him leaving was probably the worst betrayal of all. The ring still hung heavily around her neck, tucked safely between her bosom as a constant reminder of her self isolation.

The beast’s amber gaze momentarily flicked towards Fern in assessment, “The glory of Team Rocket,” she said in a slow, feigned voice of grandeur, mockingly even. Sure, she was invested in their success to a degree. Her loyalty went about as far as their checkbooks. All they had ever done was give her reason after reason to not trust them and make themselves undeserving of her true loyalty.

For a moment, all she sees is darkness and all she feels is the cold and bitter loneliness of her own design. The world is blacked out, and the pressure she feels around her neck is the most real thing she’s felt in a long time.

When the ghost strikes with SHADOW CLAW, the demons hiss and screech in retaliation. They curl into themselves, an ominous aura ready to strike back. Jayden’s quick thinking saves them all the fight. They wai and writhe across the Deep Sea’s rocky terrain as the tendrils are sucked back into the mist being exiled by the MYSTERIOUS ORE.

Finally, she can breathe. The world returns as a blinding light that slowly fades into the darkness of ULTRA DEEP SEA. The Beast finds herself on her hands and knees, fingers curled into the rocks so hard that she can feel blood pooling beneath her nails. A real and tangible fear sits in her amber eyes.

Deep, long breaths of precious oxygen return her wits to her - but not all of them. In a rare, vulnerable moment she doesn’t have it in her to lie and fight and play the classic bitch, “No,” her voice is hoarse and choked, “No, I’m not ok,” not here, and not back in reality.

She leans on Jayden to help herself back to her feet. Her mind clears and stitches together pieces of the puzzle that just unfolded. Embarrassment, fear, and guilt clutch at her heart and it bleeds into her pained expression, “I’ve gotta go,” get away from here, from him, from everyone, “Hecate,” the Shadow Gardevoir answers in an instant and in the blink of an eye, tears Lex away from here and back to her abyss.

Her desire to make that two cracked skulls dissipates in a cloud of smoke from a SCATTERBANG. The wretched smoke catches in her throat and a violent cough forces her to stop dead in her tracks. When the smoke finally clears, the boy is nowhere to be seen. The Rocket grits her teeth, cursing the one that got away.

Lex frowns for a moment, quite certain she would never tell anyone to call her Red. She’s changed quite a bit since their last meeting in Granite Cave those years ago. Her capture led to a series of events that shaped her into a far more cold and brutal woman; a true Rocket Beast.

MAGNITE RISE levitates the dual type further, their BULLDOZE harmlessly passing beneath it. The stallion keeps their momentum, galloping forward in long strides. He pivots on his forelimbs, letting the power curl his rear around to strike out with a vicious DOUBLE KICK.

“This won’t end like last time,” she assures him through gritted teeth. She hasn’t lost her speed in her grab for power, but she can’t secure the cargo with him right behind her, nipping at her heels. A hand reaches into her pocket and extracts a SCATTERBANG. It pops loudly as it strikes the ground, shrouding her and the cargo in a veil for thick smoke.

The League was certainly desperate - just as desperate as Rocket it seemed. Of course they would be, who wouldn’t when promised a piece of the god themself?

The crack of tendrils against the sizzling wailing snapped her attention off into the mist. She tensed again, hovering a hand over her belt. Once it was clear the Ultra Beast was simply looking for prey, she relaxed, watching with surprising calm as the Lampent succumbed to the Ultra Beast’s overwhelming power.

Only the strong survived here.

“A shame,” she sighed, already brushing aside the loss of her ghost, “I’ll see you around then, Neon,” his call sign held the same mocking tone as previously, “Do your best not to die tonight,” she called back over her shoulder as she disappeared into the Ultra Deep Sea’s mist.

The man’s elbow falls short,but his Shinx hits the mark. The Beast rips her hand away from his collar as she howls in pain. The kitten’s sharp teeth CRUNCHed deep into her ankle, “Little shit!” she hissed, kicking at the pokemon with her other foot to get it to let go

Meanwhile, the Shadow gardevoir watched with pleasure as the duck writhed in pain. If she wasn’t so hungry, she would have enjoyed watching it struggle a little more. Unfortunately, her appetite is insatiable. As the Quazquaval falls limp beneath her claws, she draws it in closer. Her cracked lips peeled back, her chin wet with drool in anticipation. She sank her fangs into the pokemon, digging them straight into the other’s life force. She ravenously consumed her prey (DREAM EATER) until there was none left, and the lifeless body would fall limp to the ground. Then she would search again, forever cursed.
