Ah it was always a good sign of things when being over the top and laying it on thick didn’t push away people completely. There was a chance Noelani might have just been lucky but in the end all that mattered was that the interaction was still a go.

Rising an eyebrow towards the suggestion Lex had made the alolan simply drawled out “Well you are right.” He had said it in jest to point out his usual targets for pickpocketing but well Noelani simply couldn’t resist a challenge issued so clearly.

Giving his beer and meat stick he threw in “Be back in a sec.” before moving into the crowd and towards the snobby blonde. There were a number of ways he could do it and while he usually did things by himself, he decided to do a combo with Riri both because he had talked about that and also because of the way Lex had taken the beers previously.

Hopping to the ground once they were only a few feet away the Emolga dashed towards the legs of the target. While she passed under them the Electric type release a slight jolt of electricity as she brushed against the calves. All the man would feel would be a jolt but his legs would spasm and turn to jelly making him start falling backwards.

Of course, that was where Noelani came in and caught the falling blonde. As the alolan righted him he sifted a bit while his hands darted expertly towards a pocket and fished out a wallet. Before the man could look at Noelani’s face Riri loudly snickered and released jolts of electricity before dashing towards one of the alleys. Using the distraction Noelani released his hold and quickly twisted on his foot to turn his back to the now robbed man.

Returning to the table where the redhead was Noelani simply sat opposite of her. Looking at his current prize he gave it a quick look and after noticing a pin he took it off. Examining it he just gave a minuscule nod to himself before pocketing it. In the meantime, he placed the wallet on the table and slid it towards Lex “Not exactly my best work but here it is.”

Throwing her a look Noelani reached for one of the beers and after taking a sip he would propose “Now that we both have incriminating evidence against each other, which practically means friends in criminal speak, how about a wager to spice up the night?”

Being gracious enough Noelani didn’t mention that slight faltering in Skids’s speech and instead ignored it liked it hadn’t happened at all. It had seemed like a packed thing and the alolan was wiser then to touch it, after all they were basically strangers.

Seeing as Skids agreed to splitting up and exploring the rooms, they just did that. The first room he had decided to explore revealed nothing to Noelani and the box he had opened just revealed small bits and pieces of spare parts and other odd junk. A quick check to some of the other boxes revealed much of the same contents. Though one of them did have a stack of a particular brand of magazines that had scantily clad women on its covers impersonating pokemon or official uniforms. He never knew a ranger unform could be so revealing.

Closing the box, he noted which one it was to memory and promised to return for its contents. There could be vintage issues in there and those sold fairly well. Clearing his throat for no reason he stepped away from the room and was ready to move to the next one. That’s when he caught another Cacturne exiting one of said rooms and moving towards the stairs. Man and pokemon shared a look between each other and after an exchange of nods the Cacturne continued on its way up the stairs.

Meanwhile Noelani entered a second room though this one was empty of everything and seeing the oddly squared shaped hole in the wall he figured they had been some sort of safe in here. It was no wonder it looked like everything and their mother had been taken from this particular space.

Popping his head out through the door Noelani called out the other trainer “You are right it does smell a bit funny. Any luck or something interesting on your side?”

After his quick question the alolan would try to hone on the smell and see if he could locate where it was originating on due to it having gotten his interest piqued. It did grow stronger near two of the doors near each other and if the other trained had joined him he would ask “So, left, or right?”

Nodding along with her explanation Noelani did repeat it after she was done and after one final check, he turned towards her with a wink and a mock salute “Aye, Aye captain.” before jumping into the ocean in one fluid motion.

Hitting the water with almost no splash he quickly resurfaced back. As his head broke the water and he shook off a bit of water from his hair the alolan savored the feeling of the current and gentle bopping of the waves slightly moving him. He really loved water and to be honest while had visited some beaches Noelani hadn’t had the time for a proper swim. Though this wasn’t one as well so he shook off the want to just float and drift around.

Getting his head in the game the trainer nodded towards the Tentacruel and Dewott while Octy joined them and gave out her own greeting. Snorting in amusement at the captains parting words he just threw another two-finger salute before diving in.

Getting his legs to work Noelani followed the chain down towards the seafloor. Passing schools of pokemon though nothing too dangerous or that wanted to interact with the group. It wasn’t long before he hit the bottom and he found the culprit for the stuck anchor.

Looking at where it was, he could see it covered with two large pieces of rocks that had burst from the seafloor around it before falling on it and jamming it in.

As Noelani closed in to inspect it he noticed a Gastrodon next to it was well but it wasn’t hostile and all it was doing was inspecting the anchor as well. Getting no reaction beyond a look and some scuttling back after the wave he threw towards the pokemon the alolan decided it was safe enough to go about untucking the anchor.

Turning towards the Dewott Noelani made a chopping motion before pointing towards the two rocks. The message was clear enough and the water type swiftly closed the distance before using one of its shells to slice them in smaller pieces. After that it wasn’t hard to have the other two pokemon with him help him move the pieces away from the anchor.

Of course, removing the rocks revealed the anchor hadn’t just been stuck under them but it had in fact sunken into the seafloor into a gap. It took some maneuvering on his and both the Tentacruel and Octillery to unstuck it from that edge but they finally managed it. Noelani’s head turned to see the gap where the anchor had been as he pressed the button he was instructed to. Now that he looked closer at it kind of was more of a tunnel entrance then a gap. It was also large enough to fit in a human and then some. Though whether it led to some dead end or a large system of tunnels he did not know nor could he see that far in to determine without going in.

Shrugging his shoulders Noelani made his way back to the surface and once he was above water once more, he removed his rebreather. His mouth now free he called out “Everything Good?”

Depending on the answer and if everything was good the alolan would make his way back to the ship and next the bow. Leaning over the railing he would prepare to return Octy but before he did Noelani would shoot out a question “So I figure you know the area. Does it have a lot of underwater caves and tunnel systems around here? If that’s the case I might have found an entrance to one. Well, that or either a dead end couldn’t exactly see far though.”

Walking Noelani ran a hand through his hair slightly to adjust its position. Today he was eye-catching but not because of the usual reason he might be due to wearing something glaring and attention drawing or some disguise that popped out too much. No, the reason he might be getting glances was because he was dressed to impress, after all he was about to head into an important meeting. That meant being professional and looking the part.

He knew how to do that and was no stranger to it having taken part of a few that were fairly up on the importance level. Of course, just because he was treating it a bit like one didn’t mean the meeting he was about to have was some lifechanging or a life threatening one. It might have been a smudge of shady but it was just two people about finalize some things for a partnership.

Noelani had been surprised when he had been reached but considering the dig up, they had done on him reveled only his clean record of life in Alola meant he wasn’t that bothered by it. It did also mean his reputation was spreading somewhat to be noticed because well there were other option even in just Slateport that could have been chosen. Honestly the easiest part due to having hit off decently well had actually been interacting and messaging the person he was about to see.

He had reached the building though so it was time to get out of his head and focus on the now. Cracking his neck briefly Noelani’s posture shifted and he confidently strode through the entrance, it was show time. He passed through security and was escorted by a guide to the third floor and where the board room was on the office floor.

Through it all not once did his sunglasses get taken off and despite the somewhat welcoming grin on his face there was a slight aura of being unapproachable emanating from him accented by the edges slightly visible on said grin. It made sure that he wouldn’t be questioned too much yet would still make him look open.

Of course, that changed as soon as he neared the conference room and like a switch had been flipped the edges were gone transforming into a good natured smile with an amused tilt to it. Entering through the door his eyes immediately went to where Serena was “We finally meet face to face.” was all he said before closing the distance and moving towards where she was.

He would extend a hand in greeting regardless if she decided to stand to meet him halfway or not and if she extended a hand, he would at the last-minute change the grab and lean down to kiss her hand “Pleasure.”

Over the top or not, cheesy and campy it didn’t matter in the end because presentation was key no matter how it was done.

Noelani blinked and looked around the clearing he had been training his pokemon in. It had been just him and his team until a few moments ago. Now it was packed with Growlithe and a few Arcanine. He was pretty sure there wasn’t supposed to be any here on route 101 but well he had been seeing a lot of weird stuff lately so maybe he should chalk it up to that.

Thankfully for his health none of the Arcanine had taken an offense to him so that meant he was in the clear. Sadly, that didn’t mean he avoided getting mauled though in this case it was more of getting run over and swarmed by overexcited puppies that were the young Growlithe.

Form the pile he was under Noelani extended a hand towards his team mouthing “Help” yet none came as they enjoyed his suffering. Then the puppies started rolling taking him with them and as he joined the rolling a pokeball slipped out of his pocket.

Walking around Noelani lamented the fact that somehow, he had found himself in this cave. It’s not that he didn’t like exploring new places he just wished he hadn’t been talked to doing so the way he had been. It had come as a request, one of the sillier ones he had ever gotten but as always, the weirdest ones came from the richest people and this one was very much in that vein.

Some man born in old money had a fascination with aliens and seeking clues for them. Said man had somehow gotten word of a rumor of something strange roaming Meteor Falls and after a few calls the request of investigating the cause had fallen in Noelani’s lap.

That’s why he was here, walking aimlessly around in this cave looking for something that probably wasn’t there at all. If it wasn’t the reputation and doors this would open, he would have refused but well the alolan couldn’t pass it off.

He was already going down paths that probably rarely got walked through but for now that was enough. He didn’t want to get lost somehow but most interesting things did happen off the beaten path. Decisions, Decisions.

Noelani’s lips twitched a bit that in the right light and angle would be seen as a smirk meaning it was what the Gastly would be able to see just as it vanished. Oh, he was playing with fire annoying a ghost type but well he couldn’t resist it. With that done he easily fell in step with walking alongside the redhead.

Once he finished off his little speech the alolan could only respond with an amused shrug of his shoulders at the look Lex sent him cause yeah, he knew what he had done and did not regret it at all. In fact, he embraced the campiness and a double down on it after taking the offered glass of beer in his hand.

Taking a sip Noelani’s eyes darted to her and his grin stretched a bit more while he replied “Oh no, the horror of having to treat a beautiful girl some drinks.”

It was definitely a compliment but it was also laying it on thick enough to be obvious that it could be taken as partly in jest and trying to draw out a reaction. Still, he did move on and focus on the actual question Lex had asked.

“Honestly it really depends on what catches my eye but when It comes to just people…well besides ones that annoy me I would say the snooty rich types. There’s something about the attitude that just makes me want to rob them blind.” was his reply as his gaze swept over the throng of people moving around the Night market.

Finding out what he was looking at Noelani then gestures with a chin towards a spot “Like that guy there” where he was pointing at was a generic blonde-haired man that was dressed in silk shirt and shoes way to shiny and pointy for going out. The man had an expression of clear distaste directed at the woman that had just bumped into him.

“Like doesn’t just seeing him make you want to ruin his day or something. It’s like he is asking for it.”

Chuckling Noelani added “Yeah I would agree with that” after that he wouldn’t have to wait long before the older man released one of his pokemon and declared he was ready. Nodding his head at that they would being circling the territory of the farm.

Keeping his eyes open to their surroundings as they walked, the alolan didn’t exactly spot anything that exactly jumped out to him but he was also no expert tracker so in a way that was to be expected. It was after a few more minutes of walking that Noelani spotted the form of his Talonflame returning and after circling above them she landed in front of them.

Looking at Oya the alolan simply asked “Did you find them?” after the nod of confirmation he continued asking “Was it a scout or the whole pack?”

The talonflame made sure to make a noise of agreement as soon as he said pack clearing up things for the group. Giving a hum Noelani turned towards Skids “So do you want us to go back and warn the old man or make him start the moving the Wooloo to use it as bait or should we go and confront the pack now before they could settle in?”

The way he structured the question Noelani made sure to emphasizes the part about going after the Mightyena directly as his preferred option without outright saying it directly. Depending on what Skids said would determine their course. Though if they did decide to target the pack his Talonflame would easily take to the skies once more and lead them to where their targets were.

An eyebrow curved upwards and a huff of amusement escaped him “True, you never know what the weather will bring next.” was his own dubious and vague statement before they moved on.

He didn’t keep her waiting though and filled her at what they had gotten up to drinking “Tequila. Well technically we started with it and then one of the bottles was late so the unwise decision was made to drink Rum before moving back to the Tequila. So, you could say it was the mixing that did you in.”

Noelani actually felt his head throb just at the memory of heavy drinking involved last night and the act of mixing alcohol which never ended well. At least it wasn’t a cave this time he woke up in.

The hit on the back did surprise him and have him stumble for a moment though he covered it up quickly by Chuckling as he rubbed at his back. He couldn’t help but say while doing so “Please don’t I'll be good. Swimming back to shore from open sea with a hangover is never fun.” then the rest of what the blonde had said caught with him making him bark out a laugh before mirroring the grin on her face “Wait is that actually the name of the ship and not you taking me for a walk?”

He was more asking for the sake of it rather then doubting Skyler but man such a name was oddly fitting it seemed. Following after her Noelani joined her in looking down towards the anchor. Running a hand through his hair he hummed “It has been a hot minute since I got a good dip so it would be nice to do so. Though I wouldn’t mind a bit of back up yeah. I don’t doubt my Octillery but she is a recent capture we are still working out the kinks.”

As soon as he finished saying that his shirt was already off but thankfully for her and everyone else on the ship, he was actually in shorts that allowed for swimming otherwise they would have gotten flash of some tan buttocks. Octyl was released in the water while he leaned onto the railing and looked at the water below.

“If you could also lend me a rebreather it be stellar.” That would be his final request before he too would jump into the water and join his Octillery.

Shrugging his shoulders Noelani resumed his walking after Sarah deciding he wouldn’t interfere as well seeing as he had no particular interest in the two pokemon as well. Interestingly enough he caught a glimpse of Emolga riding on the shoulder of an Electabuzz that was pointing directly to where the Luxio and Flaaffy were. It seemed the Luxio wouldn’t be getting easy dinner tonight.

He debated internally if he should ask something or attempt small talk but currently nothing was popping up that wouldn’t annoy his companion or well more than he had already done so. The alolan did have a few smart-ass comments ready but he doubted they would be appreciated right after the tense exchange they had.

Yeah, for now he would allow the ambience of their surroundings to envelop them. Though it seemed it wouldn’t be for long because Wikolia had turned and was currently looking at something. She hadn’t moved away from him but he sense that something was going it was just a question of what.

Clicking his tongue in displeasure Noelani simply watched as the Gyarados got cut down. His yes did briefly flicker towards the other trainer as he heard the mutters but he didn’t offer anything back as it would just feel like excuses. Their job was done and seeing as the serpent body was busy staining the pool John had turned to depart.

Releasing a sigh, the alolan allowed the younger trainer to pass him. It wasn’t in his nature but he did also feel responsible so after running a hand through his hair and rubbing at his neck awkwardly Noelani turned and threw out “Thanks and you know sorry.”

It rankled him a bit to apologize and he wasn’t even sure why exactly he was but the expression Noelani had caught struck a chord with him and the words had escaped him slightly. What was done was done though and as such he turned back towards the pool while his starter stood next to him with crossed arms.

“You know I meant to knock him out.” was all he said and Kala was quick to respond. While he could never actually know what she said their bond was as such he understood the meaning behind her cries “I remember the trip to Juju. Still might have been over kill for this one.”

Oh, he certainly did remember the giant angry serpent that had rose from the ocean and they had been barely able to push back. Understandably the Bellossom had a bit of a sore spot with Gyarados since then so he could understand her and didn’t fault her for this.

Shaking his head to dispel the thoughts he simply said “Let’s get out of here before someone wants us to explain this or have us clean it up.” before vacating the area with his starter.

Noelani savored the expression the Gastly had once it saw him and also the stink eye he received from the redhead once he mentioned the score. His lips twitched trying to form a smirk but he withheld the urge for now and instead nodded his head, after all it was fair for her to deny the offering and he knew where she was coming from.

“You know you would be surprised. It actually works decently well. At the very least it’s a good conversation opener and it did manage to draw your attention to me. The magic usually happens afterwards.” was his response that he finished off with a slight but amused shrug.

The good-natured smirk did also finally form as Noelani added while gesturing to the Emolga on his shoulder “Riri here would have already been through your pockets considering how both you and your partner are focused on me.” taking a bite from one of the sticks he swallowed and continued “Though even if I hadn’t just seen what you did and approached you out of curiosity you wouldn’t really be someone I mark to steal from.”

Pausing for a moment his eyes flickered over the redhead’s form “Rather probably try and hit on instead.” was his shameless add on.There was nothing to lose considering he had approached on a whim and because he was interested in talking with someone probably in his field.
