After what it did to Lex, he should want it gone. Yet even entertaining the idea of removing Deoxys raced his heart and pumped him full of dread. [break][break]

No, there had to be a better option. One that didn't separate Killian from the object of his obsession. [break][break]

The admin swallowed a dry breath. "I've tried having a conversation with it. Deoxys doesn't speak like Darkrai or Lugia. All I get is vague feelings." and at times, telling his own apart from its was impossible. Even if it wasn't, Killian hesitated to reach too far into Deoxys's mind regardless. Touching the surface felt like stepping into the ocean without a life vest. Wade too deep, and he'd drown.[break][break]

"Mars, it's not killing me." he sounded certain, but Killian doubted that be enough to convince him.[break][break]

He rose from the couch and made his way around the coffee table. Solid black marble, the rectangular amenity weighed more than Killian could lift on his own. That didn't stop him. Gripping the underside with both hands, he bent down and lifted it from the ground with a modicum of effort. [break][break]

"It's making me stronger."

Brain rattling in his skull, the world around him is a deafened wasteland. Seconds stretch on for what feels like minutes underneath the rubble. Is he alive? The bolt of pain through his arms as he attempted to move suggests so. There's also the fact he's breathing, albeit painfully. [break][break]

Why? That car hit him dead on. He should be dead or at least more injured than he feels.[break][break]

A moment of nothing before Deoxys answered. Hotter than the pain pulsing in his limbs, the alien's anger burned in Killian's mind. He winced at the feeling so intense. It had shielded him - no, them from harm.[break][break]

"Grrr." Killian efforted, pushing chunks of stone and metal off him. They slammed to the ground as he stood. "Fuck." he looked for the others, but the world's filtered in a haze. The closest thing to him is little more than a blurry speck. [break][break]

"...decorate Killian and his buddy!"[break][break]

Oh good, his hearing is coming back. That sounded like Bryan. Fucker, hit him with a car. Killian didn't remember that being part of the plan. At bryan delarosa's order, the thing in his vision got close, splattering something over his body. A few seconds later, the haze lifted from Killian's vision.[break][break]

"Fernando, where is he?" quick turn of his head toward a searing heat answered Killian's question. Damn, that crash hadn't taken Fern out either. A persistent bastard, isn't he? [break][break]

Giving chase crossed Killian's mind, but he held off. The corners of his vision remained blurred. Charging in would make him a liability until his brain settled. But he had other options.[break][break]

The light from two Poke Balls flashed. [break][break]

"Slowbro, deal with the magma. Beheeyem, help restrict Fernando's movements." [break][break]

Galarian Slowbro fired a Water Pulse at the magma's blaze to help Ninetails snuff the flames. Meanwhile, E.T. intensified the Gravity within the wreckage of the building.

An ocean of stars blinked to life above him, their light reflected in the dark mirror of the sea. Killian hardly noticed the time pass. Thoughts so effortlessly pulled to a distant place in the silence. Himself. Deoxys. Alexandra Briarwood. The topics bounced around the walls of his mind. Frantic in their speed and how quickly they changed between one another. [break][break]

At some point, Killian found himself staring at the sky. His thoughts, his anxieties that nipped like a wounded Rockruff, were pushed down. Melancholy mixed with longing rose to replace them. [break][break]

Did he miss the stars? No, Killian had never been sentimental about the night sky. "You?" it's the first time he'd felt anything so human from Deoxys if so. He waited for an answer, but they reached their destination before it came.[break][break]

"Huh?" He looked to Barnaby. "Oh, yeah." Killian wasn't out here basking in saltwater stench because he wanted to be. They had a mission. "Send out any water-type you might have on you." [break][break]

Killian stood from his chair and released his Sharpedo into the sea. The shark shuddered from the cold water against his scales. He hadn't been for a swim in so long. Beady red eyes stared at Killian eagerly.[break][break]

The admin looked away, "Strip." he ordered Barnaby with a half-smile. He didn't elaborate further, walking off to grab the wetsuits and scuba gear from inside the cabin.

Bryan couldn't say that Killian didn't warn him. Frowning, the admin pushed on Deoxys power. Already aware of the danger, it offered no resistance to Killian spreading its biomass along his arms. Using the mass, Killian bulked his fists to ridiculous size and hardiness.

The Beast's anger made him easy to read. When Bryan brought the bolder down, Killian jumped back to dodge. He then lunged, delivering a powerful sucker punch that knocked Bryan out cold.

"Fuck." Killian stared at Bryan's body, "Now I can't ask him to take care of this headache." he sighed.

Oh well.

The word cut him to his core in her voice. He'd spoken the idea, but Lex cemented it in reality. Wrinkles turned to deep crevices on his forehead as the truth settled. [break][break]

"Yeah..." Such a vast vocabulary, and that's the only thing Killian can think to say. Diamond blues find the ceiling and its numerous tiles. The silence gathering around them turned him small. Terrifying power in his veins, yet he felt powerless. [break][break]

How laughably ironic.[break][break]

Part of him wants to wallow in the feeling. Go back to being that helpless child stuck on his mother's floor. Alone. It's tempting. Certainly easier than fighting has been and would continue to be. But there's too much to lose by giving up. Loneliness didn't hold him anymore, and it never would again. Not because Deoxys shared his body, Killian escaped long before then. Five years ago, to be exact, when he found Lex. [break][break]

She is light in a world absent of it. Killian do anything to keep that light burning. Even step out of her glow and back into the black. If only for a while. Looking from the ceiling to her said she thought it forever. [break][break]

Killian bit his cheek, pressure building in his chest. "Lex - " cut off by her scrambling to him on her hands and knees. The anguished plea caught him off guard. Never had he heard such frantic desire in her voice. Yet still, she hesitated to touch him, and that said everything.[break][break]

Dusting the shattered pieces of his heart aside, Killian exhaled. The breath flattened his crumbled features like a freshly laid sheet. Anyone else but Lex might think he'd reined himself in, but it's a flimsy mask. [break][break]

He closed the distance she couldn't. Slow, steady, Killian took her chin between the thumb and pointer of his left hand. "I'm sorry, Dove." gentle as the morning breeze, he whispered, "But I have to before I hurt you again." The delicate tone did nothing to hide the pain seared into his voice. [break][break]

Their foreheads met as Killian leaned closer. The tears he'd thought all dried up after his mother's death wet his cheek.[break][break]

"If that thing used by my body to...to..." the word wouldn't come, pushed down his throat and quickly replaced by another. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself."
