Why wouldn't you? Damn these authoritative figures and the ways they skirt around questions! Whether knowingly or not, the answer Cillian Quinn provides is nowhere near satisfactory for the likes of Ryuuzaki. "So where did the tree go? Straight to Flint's hands?"

The mention of her name isn't done without a grimace, an inexplicable dislike for that woman's name dragged out upon the tips of his tongue. To have willingly aided in the research of… He shelves that thought for another time; There are plenty of variables that he has yet to uncover regarding her motives.

How he loves it when he catches someone off guard, the suppressed scream dancing upon the breeze as he snickers. "My bad, didn’t think that anyone daring enough to explore this ship at nightfall would be scared that easily." He glances over the girl once more, taking in her presence as the night sky washes over her. "Especially for someone trying to catch pokemon in these haunted straits."

Even with the warning given, he can't help but slip in a little hint of the supernatural. After all, isn't it better for his newfound companion to be aware of the dangers that may lie ahead? Humming gently, Ryuuzaki wanders to the ship's edge, gazing into the shimmering waters as he allows Skadi to sit upon the banister. His hand reaches for his pouch, a few berries scattered into the shimmering sea without much thought put into it. Then, he lazily lobs a pokeball into the bubbling mix, watching for a response from the shadows of the Magikarp that linger beneath.

The words 'never seen it in person' tell him a few things about this stranger - He's not a native and definitely someone he should look into later. When he tosses out an Electivire, Ryuuzaki is watching closer, tensing ever so slightly as he signals for Eld to create some distance. Thankfully, the Buizel listens, swiftly darting away right as electricity touches the crystalline surface.

"That's one way to catch them, I guess." He squints, kneeling at the water's edge as he beckons for Eld to carry over the poor Surskit that got caught in the mess. "I'm just a little more cautious than the rest when it comes to the volcanic ashes here. Makes me feel sick if I breathe in too much." The pokemon is lifted from the water with gentle hands, soothing words provided alongside a bribery of berries to calm its nerves.

"So where did you come from? You don't seem like a Hoenn native." It's a wild guess with the last statement, but he's willing to take that leap. "I'm Ryuuzaki, you can call me Ryuu though."

Handling matters of Rocket hasn't felt quite this hectic since his first few years of induction. With information on legendaries to sort through to getting sneak peeks at loose lab reports, Ryuuzaki has been through the cycle of mayhem in these straits. Though he has no doubt dealt with bigger headaches - What with the remnants of fallen Kanto and the tasks involved - there's no denying the migraine he gets when thinking about the recently announced goals of tracking Xerneas.

"So I was thinking, Chief. Why exactly do we need so much energy? Are ya trying to detonate a warhead in Slateport or something?" He neglects to mention the possibility of it being used for research into shadow pokemons. Arceus knows he'd probably die before subjecting his own to such experimentation. Downing a shot of hard vodka, Ryuuzaki sighs at the singing sensation down the back of his throat.

"Think about it. How the fuck are people supposed to carry an oversized potted plant?" Slipping Cillian Quinn a look from the corner of his eye, he's almost struggling not to laugh from whatever reaction he elicits. "Did you have to tell the League to… Leaf you alone?"

Over in the corner, his Glaceon sighs, his misty breath dissipating with time as she tucks her head under her paw.

As a certified dumbass, Ryuuzaki firmly believes in the idea that water and fire do not mix. While magma and water can create solid murder weapons, water has a 50% chance of killing the fire or making it hell on earth. Given how good he is at getting into trouble, he isn't quite willing to take chances with danger itself.

Or so he says whilst taking a lovely stroll near Mount Pyre and soaking in the ashen atmosphere. Eld looks at him in absolute disgust, his orange tail flicking in the heat as he waddles alongside his trainer. At least it's not Skadi - Thankfully so, Ryuuzaki hums with the knowledge that he's been spared of a harsh frostbite.

But he can never be spared from the pains of human interaction, his footsteps inherently triggering the nerves of a stranger before him. "Just passing by, bud." He shrugs, patting Eld on the back as the Buizel quickly takes to the water. "Grumpy over there fancied a swim." Perhaps, he should have treaded lighter, gone around in the foliage to avoid any contact with others but ideas don't mean anything if they can't be acted upon. Tugging upon his face mask, Ryuuzaki coughs to clear his throat, his eyes trained on the Buizel as he lazes in the cooling respite of the stream.

Of all the sceneries that Hoenn has to offer, Ryuuzaki admits that the ocean is by far the best environment - The gentle cries if Wingulls, the lulling ebb and flow of the tides, the chilly ocean breeze that envelopes his entire being. He misses that overwhelming sensation of the unknown, his hands tracing the condensation left upon the rickety banisters of this abandoned ship.

What journeys had she made before she had reached these final resting grounds? What kinds of people and treasures had she carried across the open waters? Wood can't quite speak in tongues but the stories are carved into her very body that he wanders upon: The tattered and yellowed geological charts, the rusted remnants of a spinning globe and the dull corpse of a sea compass. He fumbles with the last item for a minute, turning it about as he examines the details engraved on its surface, then pockets it once he's done, much to the disdain of the Glaceon beside him.

"It can find better use than rotting here." His insistence comes with reason, his eyes flickering over the captain's table and its blanket of soggy dust. "You know better than anyone that navigation is a pain." And yet, Skadi only replies with a misty exhale, her breath encouraging the blooming of ice under her feet as she turns to exit the room.

"You know, I would appreciate it if you gave me something more than a huff… Maybe have some excitement for seeing the ghosts of the souls that lingered?" Such is the fate of the whimsical, ignored by those who hold themselves with dignity and pride. Shrugging, Ryuuzaki follows after, snickering ever so slightly as Skadi jumps at a loud crash. Through the howling winds, he swears he can hear a voice and that suspicion is confirmed as the snowy princess ducks behind his legs. "Bet that's the ghosts feeling offended at your lack of enthusiasm."

The tease is met with a low growl, a harsh whimpers of sorts as she butts her head against his shin. God, how he loves it when the mighty get shaken. Picking her up, Ryuuzaki ruffles her fur and steps up to the challenge, bold in his steps as he emerges from the darkest corridors, his sunset-streaked hair seemingly reflecting the pale moonlight.

"Who dares to trespass on holy grounds?" Though he isn't sure of the origins of the ship himself, he isn't one to pass up the opportunity to mess with another person. "What business do you have here, little one?"

He's always been invested in urban legends, creatures that don't quite fit in with man or pokemons that have been discovered - Big Foot, serpant-like dragons, the guardians of the four cardinal directions. Perhaps, the reported sightings were merely people confusing legendaries for unknown beasts. Moltres could easily be mistaken for the Phoenix of the South, a few mischievous Lapras in misty grounds could be Nessie… He's not one to fully dismiss the idea of cryptids but he isn't one to jump on the bandwagon of believers just yet.

Rusturf Tunnel is one such location of passing rumours, haunted by ghouls and goatmans or so the locals say. However, he's greeted by the sight of a lunar glint, droves of Sableyes scampering through the forest as the trees quiver under their stampede.

"Can't exactly be disappointed if you didn't have any expectations, I guess." Reaching into his pockets, Ryuu only offers Skadi a pat for awakening her from her slumber - Part of him knows that the branch they're seated upon would have woken her anyways. His aim is sloppy but he isn't particularly anxious about catching one for his team. "Let's just see if we get lucky today."

Nothing beats the scent of mud and freshly falling rain! Given how close they live to the beach, rarely does Lily get the opportunity to use Rain Dance. So when she's offered that rare chance to go all out, she's dancing with her heart on her sleeves, singing along to the harmony of pattering raindrops as she splashes in the puddles being created. Not too far away, she can spy her trainer watching her under the cover of an umbrella but she can't quite understand what he means by the shaking of his head as he buries his face into his hands…
