Battlefields are no place for discussions of allegiances and intentions, and it’s only for so long that Mars sees himself willing to entertain such arguments. In the end, whether a choice in allegiance is made out of devotion, fear, or greed, it doesn't matter – a choice made is a choice made. In this battlefield, anyone who chose to stand with the League is deemed an enemy.

The difference is Mars has always believed that there are many ways in which a battle can be fought.

In the case of Aidan Hereford, this has been deemed as the most effective.

It sure seems to be true when it comes to the measure of enthusiasm between Isaac Merlo and his Totodile – as if they had been made to be companions. It’s while letting out a light chuckle that Mars watches the scene, silently hoping that Isaac doesn’t also eat with wrappers included.

However, even while in the most jovial of moods, Mars doesn’t tease the disguised associate with jokes like these. They’re not friends. They will never be friends. A sense of familiarity is not something he cares for allowing to develop.

”Ah, a mighty Krookodile!” The man exclaims when seeing Isaac’s “disguised” Totodile appear from behind him, shaking its plastic Pumpkaboo. The Riolu isn’t nearly as impressed, but then again, Ajax is a precocious little brat who seems to think all of those things are just too good for him. It’s not like he can be blamed, though. After all, Mars is one hell of a strict trainer.

Thankfully for the tiny “Krookodile”, while the candy given to its trainer is far from what it seems to be, there are actual candies meant for all the children who have knocked on this door today – along with treats for their pokémon as well.

Even though Isaac says not to mind the pokémon, the blond crouches down, offering it a delicious rage candy bar.

”Here.”

Another one is offered to his own Riolu, petting it a couple of times before answering the question just asked:

”Saw a couple, actually. Patrols and what not, you know? You’ll totally run into them if you go that way.” Once standing, he vaguely gestures towards the forest. "Bet they'd love to meet an Elite."

Actual rangers. Patrolling. After all: the primal point isn’t far from here.

While Isaac makes an enthusiastic attempt at standing at attention, giving a bright smile and a rigid salute, the one he receives in response is casual, nonchalant, and playful. There’s an air of ease to the man dressed as a ranger cadet, almost as if to him all of this were as natural as breathing is. Charisma, maybe.

To the point that, when Isaac Merlo tries to be cheeky and ask a question, the man who often goes by Tuesday does not look surprised at all, nor does he miss a beat.

”Neat, aren’t they? They’re pretty rare. Between you and I, kinda a pain to get. There’s a bunch of flavours… Butterscotch, chocolate filled with ganache, lum berry, pinap, lansat, salac, hondew, colbur… You know how it goes.”

The chaos of a battle overtakes Mount Pyre’s hallowed grounds, hidden by dense fog and the approaching meteorite that looms up above. Within mingling mist and smoke, a pokémon dies, joining the countless souls that rest in the mountain. Within the mingling mist and smoke, a man appears in midair, clad in a mask marked by pointed horns.

Gravity calls him down, and the face of the Gengar is chosen as his landing spot. A red boot pushes all of his weight onto the pokémon before it has a chance to become incorporeal, and even if it were to at that moment, it doesn’t stop the man from throwing a black pokéball up in the air. It spins and spins and spins, and from it, a dark-winged Braviary is released.

It all happens in a matter of seconds. From behind his mask, the man locks eyes with the venomous ghost, whistling one short note before disappearing once more.

It’s to this note that the bird-of-prey responds, calling forth a gust. The fog is temporarily carried away by strong winds, and within these winds, sharp petals swirl, cutting everything they touch. SPRINGTIDE STORM overtakes the field.

The man clad in red and black reappears close to where a disguised BARNABY FINCH has fought against the Mach Pokémon, gun in hand. The gun is pointed at MARISOL SIMONE.

”Two against one is hardly fair.” He says, voice neutral, unrecognisable and distorted. ”Let’s even those odds.”

The Unown-? had long since been called back to his side, and while his attention remains on Leonidas Stone and MARISOL SIMONE out of necessity, questions born of concern overtake his thoughts: Are you alright? Are you hurt? Is any of this blood yours?

He will make them pay.

The monument had once been a statue of a Gardevoir with its hands held together in prayer. Its head is now gone, and what had once been beautiful alabaster lies dulled by the presence of dirt and moss. Atop of it, the masked man stands, his gaze fixed north.

Before him there is only fog.

Around him there is only the cacophony of a battle.

Above him there is only an Unown, red with the blood of Aidan Hereford’s pokémon.

The Primal Point lies north. Their objective. Their goal. Their mission. To the east, however, lies a sight much different, and this is the sight that is shown to a disguised Mars by the bloodied symbol.

Martín del Mar’s UNOWN can act as his sensory familiars, which means he can PSYCHICALLY LINK with any of his UNOWN on the field to see what they are seeing like a spy camera.

BARNABY FINCH wandering alone amongst mist and smoke, oblivious to the two figures that approach. Leonidas Stone and a vaguely familiar woman (MARISOL SIMONE). They send their pokémon to attack him. Barnaby’s Gallade intervenes. Blood is spilled.

From above, the bloodied Unown stares at Barnaby’s assailants, and by extension, its avatar does too.

In a split second, he disappears, the headless statue being left abandoned once more.
