"Retrieve it." Barnaby instructed, his voice firm. "Unharmed."[break][break]

Its bloodlust sated for now, the TYPE: NULL surprisingly sprung into action without even a grumble of indignation. Just as the TORCHIC before, this one was quick, but not quick enough to outrun a creature with such a long stride.[break][break]

flew high above the newly-formed island, straddling his large BRAVIARY while his SHAYMIN glided a good distance away, keeping watch.[break][break]

Wind whipped at his face, pushing the hood he wore back and revealing the dark hair beneath. His mask remained firmly in place, however, hiding Admin Bee's identity from LEAGUE operatives.[break][break]

How he hated this damn XATU.[break][break]

It drew out memories he'd kept suppressed — for a reason. There were things in his past that he didn't want dredged up.[break][break]

But there was no stopping the simulation. In here, even their conscience was susceptible to the whims of the machine.[break][break]

The vision came softly, fading into black and then resurfacing in a gilded office, high atop some skyscraper in what Barnaby knew to be Lumiose City. Prism Tower could be seen through the wall of windows on one side of the room, though it wasn't lit up just yet. It was only midday, after all.[break][break]

And he was only ten years old here. Still gangly, with an adolescent mind, but beginning to be honed to the ways of ROCKET in a much more... intentional way.[break][break]

Across from him sat his father, Baptiste L'oiseau, with his hands steepled across a grandiose desk. There was a cold fury in the ROCKET Admin's eyes, though Barnaby couldn't remember exactly why. It had been such a common occurrence as to be mundane.[break][break]

Just as the man was about to speak, the memory tore at its edges. 's frantic words had also snapped Barnaby free.
