A young blossomed into consciousness, the boy appearing about eight or so. [break][break]

He was gingerly tiptoeing though the halls of what appeared to be a large, grand estate. It was dim, with the walkway around him illuminated solely by moonlight spilling from ornate windows. Everything was quiet. There was no sound in this memory.[break][break]

Suddenly, three teenage boys came barreling around the corner, their enthusiasm heightened upon seeing little Barnaby at the end of the hall.[break][break]

There was little use in trying to run, but he did. No point in fighting back when they caught him, but he did. Futile to silently scream for help when they pulled him into an adjacent room, but he did.[break][break]

It was visceral — so real that Barnaby felt he'd been transported back to the memory, rather than just simply reliving it through a simulation.[break][break]

Thank ARCEUS the memory quickly faded and they were returned to their reality.

Not bad, not bad. Move Tutors were always useful. While Barnaby busied himself with securing the item in his mesh bag, a flash of yellow caught his attention in his peripheral vision. Was it another diver in a garish suit? A sea monster? A piece of discarded plastic?[break][break]

Nope. It was Elaine! His shiny AZUMARILL. He'd let her roam the surrounding area to scout for good spots to search. Lifting a hand to sign, Barnaby asked if she had something to show him. The Water-type nodded enthusiastically before swimming away, obviously wanting him to follow.[break][break]

Doing better! A Form Change was definitely an upgrade from a Poké Ball. After stuffing the item in the mesh net he'd brought with him on his dive, Barnaby continued to scour this section of the coral reef.[break][break]

Other interested divers had swam over in the meantime, making the area busier than he would have liked. Though they scared the wildlife away, their presence meant Barnaby was less likely to find notable loot before them. Time to ramp up the search![break][break]

A rustling from the forest's edge alerted the TYPE: NULL to it's next potential target. Barnaby heard the noise, too, and upon turning to face its origin saw a CHARCADET cautiously stepping into the meadow.[break][break]

What luck — a Pokémon he actually wanted! [break][break]

"Careful, now. That one's a little more challenging." [break][break]

To Barnaby's surprise, the beast uttered a shallow growl, signaling that it was apparently up for the challenge.[break][break]

"I want this one alive and relatively unharmed." He instructed, gesturing to the CHARCADET that was now staring at them warily. "Strike with precision and end your battles quickly."[break][break]

Hm. Just a measly Poké Ball, wedged between two large rocks. Barnaby had hoped for something a little more worthwhile, but knew that this sort of activity was a practice in patience.[break][break]

Although he didn't strike gold on his first try, the letdown wouldn't deter him from swimming to other parts of the reef and inspecting ever nook and cranny.

had actually really enjoyed this event during last years Slateport Splashfest.[break][break]

Swimming was one of his main hobbies and exercise activities. He was a natural in the water and could move almost as nimbly as any Water-type Pokémon. Liking diving, then, was a natural progression.[break][break]

He'd start closest to shore, near a small coral reef. Most of it looked healthy enough, with only a few of the coral looking bleached.[break][break]

Surprisingly enough, the beast listened to his instructions. Without even knowing what hit it, the CLAMPERL was mercilessly subdued, with even its tough outer shell cracking under the intensity of the TYPE: NULL's attacks.[break][break]

Again, Barnaby threw a Safari Ball before the injuries became too grievous. [break][break]

After a second time of this happening, the TYPE: NULL appeared less angry. Was it learning? Did it realize Barnaby's intentions? The only way to know was to continue.[break][break]

Luckily, a LEDYBA happened to fly nearby at just that moment.[break][break]
