thank you very much for a wild 3 ish years shiv, spiral, and now crow! every year hoenn lives through is amazing to watch. i know a lot of it is possible due to smart automation and caring staff, but i like to think the community can endure just as much as well. the community pours as much into hoenn as you, hoenn, pours in to us. i'm very happy to be apart of this site from rp to hanging out to competitive gaming. hoenn is a hub of activity that i hope can only get better as we grow and change.

Ragon tries to PHANTOM FORCE through the WHIRLPOOL but it sucks him up all too quickly due to its sheer size. And as it struggles and gurgles in the water, Paxton is left in much of the same. Facing off an avatar with no back up? Sure, easy enough. And sure as hell it's one he's already fought this one before. The shadow Lugia roars and he catches sight of it's terrible red eyes. [break][break]

"Cillian Quinn you stubborn bitch." he murmured. How many times would the same terrorist pop up, unable to die. They lock eyes and Paxton moves as he saw the blonde raise his hand to the sky. The sky doesn't even rumble or crackle, it just falls before the thunder clap nearly knocked him over. His ears pop from the blast. Electricity was bad news when he was carrying around what was essentially a giant lightning rod. He'd left his Electrike at home, unfortunately. [break][break]

He's flung partly onto the ground. Not a bad fall. He hadn't chosen a tree this time, thankfully. But still a rough landed when clutching a metal stick to your chest. "New trick?!" he shouted as he got up and moved as he tried to move away form where he'd been standing, lest he got blasted again. He never liked quick shots, but situations like this called for it. He makes for another tree for cover as he took aim at the Avatar and yanks the trigger back. Just as he did, his Dragapult tried to lock eyes with the Shadow behemoth and angrily cast a HEX on it as it chokes out bubbles.

He loads another shot with ease as the Talonflame zips in the suddenly bright sky. The heat beats down on him and his partner. The Porygon keeps watch, triangle feet spinning as it charged up a TRI ATTACK and tried to smack down the dual type from the air, even against the strong wind it created in its flight. [break][break]

Paxton keep his eyes on the humans, waiting to catch them as they turn tail and ran. He's not sure what the plan is, but it's uncoordinated. Had they never heard of a sniper fire? How many times had Rocket attacked the League now? Well whatever. Easy targets. A couple of grunts chase after Dorian while a few others turn to the side and try to weave to their escape. He fires, dropping one and pulling up another shot. [break][break]

Is this what Navy had meant when he said big? Deadly? A hot casing rolls away and the top of his rip is hot. He takes aim at another runaway before firing. As the rifle hits the same, numb shot in his shoulder he grabbed another pokeball. The Gouging Fire is a familiar enough creature, and he didn't have much to combat it. "You're up, Victor!" he shouted as in front of their little nest the Raging Bolt appeared and issued a loud roar. The harsh sunlight only makes the sparking and glowing in the dual type's eyes brighter as he let off a dangerous DRAGON PULSE to stop Dorian's charge. [break][break]

"hell yeah. your honor annalise henderson did nothing wrong she fought in self defense." he said, holding up his hand like he was swearing an oath. He held a serious face for a total of six seconds before nearly doubling over in a giggle fit. "Hey, hey, hey you know me!" Paxton protested. "Issa meee Paxton. Yer friend." he said, smile big and eyes empty. Not a thought in that skull of his at all.

He nodded as Annalise agreed to come back when they were both sober and there as no danger of pricking each other with needles. Annalise grew quiet and Paxton went back to looking at Mew before staring dumbstruck at the ranger captain. Once again, he's slow on the uptake but so fast to agree. "Yes! Fries and burger! Fries and a burg!"

Its gross he even knew this but...when the hare king's attack slams back the Alcreamie it doesn't leave behind small splatters of cream. He's not even sure he smelled the burnt sugar caught up in the attack and lingering in the air. "It's bright for an Ilumina but-" he'd never seen an Illumina pokemon so feral. Most felt rather...soothing. Calm. Maybe that was just his own.

Coniebear welcomed the attack, glowing her own radiant iridescent as she tapped in their shared bond. The keystone and megastone shine brightly together before she transforms, form glowing too bright to see for a moment before she takes the TACKLE attack. Coniebear slides backwards on her feet but isn't toppled over.

The two heads chomping and drooling in the air turn to stare at her prey. They open their mouths and the air seems to freeze, as cold energy crystalizes onto their lips and fangs before they both tear into the Aclreamie as it struggled. A half frozen pastry pokemon is thrown onto the ground, but it's radiance doesn't flicker. And yet again, Coniebear doesn't pull pieces off with her.

"Elise, this really isn't normal, it's not dripping at all." he said despite being able to see the deep gashes the candy pokemon carried. And even still, as if posseted, the creature stands to glare at them both, ready to fire.

"I'm sure Remiel Calcifet has the most intimate of history cataloged. There's probably a grain of truth in every myth." They'd figure it out. The matter isn't pressing but...he had a feeling all these loose threads might connect to each other somehow. At the very least, he wanted to know the connection between the Ruin Beasts and the Hero Dogs. And Calyrex, of course. Why 2 of them existed and who the Rocket shard holder was, if any at all. "I'd agree with you more if you just stuck to saying I'm a great shot." Which he was. Paxton doesn't agree with Navy's assessment. He figured most wouldn't. Not when he was reminder, a spitting image of the violence enacted on Kanto. As much as he hated Rocket, they'd forged him out of fire and pain. Knocked down over and over again and not even allowed to die. Best sleep of his goddamn life. Enough to drive a man mad. “I’m just a man.” Riddled with depression and a grudge so strong it’d curse the next 10 generations of the Rocket who managed to kill him. [break][break]

He takes pause as Navy confesses something darker than expected. Something moved in the back of his mind as Navy brought up MATIAS SILPH . A man he can’t fully defend, but would try to regardless. Because he’s just like CALLISTA MOON and Eva Morales . And no matter how bad it got, he’d already forsaken the mall once. He couldn’t do that again. He’s not sure how to respond. So he spits out a fact, “That’s one of the five stages of grief.” and settles back down. A beat later and he added, “I knew kyle lopez would die young. I was just wrong about the cause.” Long ago, he’d put that man’s revival fire to the test. It seemed to make the Champion uneasy but he had been far more worried about him withering away. In the end, he died a fairly ordinary death instead. [break][break]

The subject moves on to after the war, a moment in time he didn’t think about too much since there was nothing else for him after it. “Probably. Many only appeared because they were at risk.” he said, not needing to count the numerous disasters caused by different sorts of legendaries causing trouble or natural disasters. “PROJECT SAPPHIRE has plenty of grief counselors on staff. But who knows. According to legend some of them have always stuck around humanity. Even if we didn’t quite see it.”

"Huuhh...?" The alcohol dulls his mind, makes him slower. He snorts as Annalise explains, getting it a whole 10 seconds later. "That...tha' isn't too bad, just a big dog..." he said, the liquor killing his city tongue in favor for something a little older and a place he hadn't spoken of in years.

He looked up at Mew, grinning as it ate. The treat wasn't that big but it was making it last. For something so cat like, it ate like a Pachirisu. "Menace...? Y'don't seem like the type to put up with that kind of shit." he said, every second growing drunker and more loose with his words. "Attagirl! No fraternizin'!" he said with a cheerful giggle.

"Listen, y'see an ex rocket. You tell 'em you're not comfortable wiht them coming around. You warn them to leave. They don't. You tresspass them. They won't get locked up but you can use the incident to start a- a paper trial. Get 'em restrained." he said, waving his hands as he explained a rather arduous and long legal process.

"Or." he said, snickering liek it was the funniest thign in the world. "Just break their noses. Promise you most mother fuckers take one hit to the face an' fold." he said balling up his fights and shadow punching. "Gotta be quick. Jab 'em right in the nose. Works on pokemon just fine. Same with humans." he added, his advice not really the best. But he was in a state.

"I don't carry a signature reader up my ass, Anna." he said squinting at the woman before pointing at Mew and then her. "Y'got- y'gotta...show up at the lab. With an' appointment." he said.

"Isaac Merlo has also scheduled his own studies amidst his busy amnesty schedule. ollie morales cut him a break so we could conduct it." he added, going off the cuff as he tried to pressure the woman. It felt like she was speeding up. Like they were gaining speed towards a sudden end.

"I didn't say you were." he said as he kept pace. "I'm simply pointing out I can cover an hour of meetings for you to do your appointment." he said. "The risk of another PRIMEVAL is that dangerous that even if sampling leads to little results, it is still vital to our science department's research." He didn't understand the fear over a blood sample and a psych eval. It only made him believe they needed it more the more they resisted.

He's swirling his wine like he knows how to taste it beyond 'sweet' and 'dry' when he's joined by another masked companion. They seem a smidge flustered, and their plate is overflowing with snacks. Paxton swipes a stray olive that's falling off and eats it without missing a beat. "Yes, actually. I'm curious as to the invite and I really wanted to look at the older architecture they seem to have restored." he couldn't tell if something had happened or if it was simply maintenance though. "Yourself?" he asked, tilting his head and smiling at the attendee before nodding directly at the plate of food he carried. The movement makes the little bits and bobs of silver on his outfit jingle. Courtesy of luciano fisk , even if the man didn't get to see him wear it. [break][break]

"If we're being honest, I just came to investigate the rumors about the place." he added before another guest joins them at the INSTRUMENTS. "them to converse with." he said politely as he took a sip of his wine. "What are you both hoping to find here?"

The invitation finds him despite his best efforts to avoid it. paxton concordas isn't much for parties. Not anymore. Not when the last one had gotten him and luciano fisk fighting and ignoring each other for weeks on end. OR well, it was more so Luci ignoring him, and Paxton having a panic attack about it every few days or so. [break][break]

But the invitation kept...finding him. Eerily so. It'd given him chills at one point. But there's only so many times he can say no to studying old architecture under candlelight with a glass of wine. And he was a snoop. The disappearance of the family had made him incredibly curious. He even thought maybe this elaborate scheme was a way to re-debut the family into high society. Not the worst way to draw in a crowd. [break][break]

So he gets dressed in finery he didn't own ( Luci lent it to him ), and heads without telling the man. He's unwilling to stoke the fire that lay dormant within his lover's deep blue eyes. He'd mention the holiday party. Paxton would get annoyed. The disappearance of the family would be ignored, and everyone would go home mad. And lonely. [break][break]

"Augh, that's enough of that." he muttered to himself as he entered the mansion, eyeing the ghostly servants. Some of them cute, others...staring too much for his liking. Probably the guard dogs. He didn't expect an answer, but he asked anyway as he followed a Drifloon to the main hall where the party seemed to be at full swing. "Did you come out of those portals that're rumored to pop up on occasion?" He offered a small grin to the ghost who, naturally ,said nothing. But it did loosen its gentle grip on his wrist and set him loose on the dance floor. [break][break]

But dancing is pretty boring without a partner so he carefully avoids it, moving by the edges and scooping up a wine glass as he did. Luckily the mask he donned allowed his room to eat and drink as he pleased. He skirts by glancing up at the décor and the paintings. The finishes on the wood and the strange aesthetic the Rennard's had chosen to create their home with. Eventually, he ends up by the instruments, more than happy to indulge in his red wine and watch the instruments move. A couple of green apple, gummy eyeballs bob in his drink.

As soon as possible. It'd hurt of course. But better now while everything is still fresh than wait for to heal up and break skin again. I think we'll be handling too much today if I add on a psychological eval, so we can deal with that on your next visit." he said. He doesn't want to risk the changes affecting Freya or MATIAS SILPH again. He didn't think the League could go through that once more, emotionally or physically. "The question on your patient survey from earlier will have to do." he added as he gestured for her to relax so he could stop pulling vials.

He cleans it all up, carefully sets a cotton ball on the crook of her elbow and murmurs for her attention to hold it while he tapes it down. "I'll get you a juice box and put these away." he said, trying to quirk a smile despite the grim nature of their work. But he wouldn't ask if he didn't believe it necessary. And if this was truly so bad, they'd know for certain. They could tell her to avoid it with certainty. And she'd know, for sure, the consequences of her own actions.

He puts everything away, offers her a juice box of her choice and sits with her. "Of course. I won't gatekept my own Head Professor. This is kind of her specialty anyway." he said. "She'll meet us there. For now, take a minute while they prep."

Much of his work on these routes had become what he knew best, scout and and sabotage. Paxton, along with the help of his Porygon, had managed to set up somewhere in the trees. Back against the trunk, and lying in wait while League forces moved around in secret. He was here to just hold the line for cover. [break][break]

A preemptive ambush of sorts to keep Rocket busy, while he relayed warnings to those he was meant to protect. He's already locked and loaded by the time Adrian Malcolm moves through. Similar grunts had passed by but veered away, moving out of range for the officer in question. [break][break]

Adrian isn't as lucky. "Hopper, we'll engage here then push west." he said ready to pull attention in the opposite direction of their comrades. He closes one eye to look, still before beginning to fire. Except the shot goes sideways into a trunk as a Tailow, bursts out of the trees, escaping a random Poochyena from below. "Shit-!" Thanks the gods CALLISTA MOON wasn't here. She'd never let him live this down.

He's not surprised that Rocket would move so quickly to push out from Petalburg. Especially with the Kantonian reinforcements, this was the perfect time to begin their conquest outward. But as they brashly pushed out, Paxton had taken the time to revisit an old skin. Scouting further and farther out, inciting chaos amongst Rocket grunts trying to establish footholds. He's nested, rifle at the ready, and aim flying true. Another grunt goes down with a single shot. The only acknowledgement to it is the sound of a casing being tossed out the side of his weapon. [break][break]

But what he doesn't expect if the shadows that coalesce over the corpse. Nor the innate panic that strikes quick and fades. He's been spotted. Even this far out, Cillian Quinn somehow sees him. He's familiar with the terrorist. One of the League's most wanted. Intelligent to a fault, but arrogant too. He remembers their skirmish on the beach years ago and their angry but ultimately equal discussion on the crystalblooms. Their connection had been short. Any contact between Rocket and League was. Thankfully, the dome disappeared, and the crystalblooms stopped threatening their existence. [break][break]

And while he would always respect the tenuous truce and the controlled flow of information, as it stood they were on opposite sides. And he would kill him. His lips twitch into the ghost of a smile as he felt his bones squeezed and his head hurt at the sudden PRESSURE form the Shadow Lugia. The downpour is also bad news. His weapons wouldn't rust instantly, it's not that weak, but it wasn't ideal conditions for fire under duress. [break][break]

Paxton needed to swap tactics, a reality made evident immediately as the sound of gunshot cracks thorugh the forest. Hopper helps him react, dropping him roughly on the forest floor with a sudden TELEPORT. Branches fall, showing just how true of an aim the Underboss held. "We'll take it from here, Hopper." he said, quickly swapping out to his Dragapult. "Ragon, prepare for the worst." he said as the dual type looked above. Paxton gets ready, as Ragon reveals their position with a sudden WILL-O-WISP aimed for the undersea behemoth that sought to end them both.
