The gushing fan caught her by surprise. It happened so rarely after all. So the comment about the Ultra Sea swooshed right past her.

Johanna found herself feeling the heating blush in her cheeks as she confirmed her identity to the both of them with a nod.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Vanilla and Proxii.” She beamed them both a smile as she managed to compose herself somewhat.

“Oh I am just making sure everything is running smoothly, and enjoying the view.” Johanna answered.

But Johanna’s focus was pulled away from her fan for a moment as her Driblim came floating by, behind it trailed three Drifbloons it had saved from servitude by way of purchase moments earlier. But as Johanna took a moment to look upon the lot she realized it was actual balloons and not of the living sort.

But before she could even question it. The Drifblim was already introducing itself and its new friends to Vanilla and Proxii.

Johanna watched from the sidelines as Elise didn’t quite manage to hit the target.

“I am sure you’ll hit the next one!” She spoke up encouraging Elise to try again!

And while that was going on a Mimikyu came up to Johanna carrying two bags of Carnival Popcorn. It offered one of the bags to Johanna, which she gratefully accepted with a “Oh, thank you.” Before she returned to watching the Dugtrio-Ring-Toss while munching on the popcorn.

Johanna had taken a moment to gaze upon the riders of the Tauros-Rodeo game. Many fought bravely but fell to the beast while others like a certain woman seemed to hold on expertly.

However, Johanna’s attention didn’t linger. As her gaze stumbled upon quite the rare sight amidst her crowd.

She approached the TYPE: NULL calmly to get a closer look.

Getting the Carnival to Mossdeep City had been quite the experience. Just the logistics of sea transport had proven difficult alone. But now as she took a break and walked about Carnival it was all worth it.

Clad in a classic flowery black summer dress so unlike her usual more goth/punk attire. She almost blended into the crowds as she walked along with a Popcorn bag in hand munching on the classic Carnival treat while quietly taking in the sight of all the cheerful guests.

By her side Blissey walked, equally happy to accompany its trainer and look at the bright lights. It carried its own bag of popcorn, which it by now had halfway consumed.

They reached the Tug-o-War area. A surprisingly popular attraction. Sometimes she wondered if Tug-o-war sated some primal competitive urge in the people of Hoenn. But alas before she could ponder it further she noticed a familiar face.

A bright smile appeared on her face as she addressed the person. “Hi Isaac.”

Three captures and what felt like a really long walk later Johanna finally found her quarry.

The Charcadet stood before her. It’s red hot body flaming with fighting spirit. It looked at the prospecting trainer judging her as much as she took stock of it.

For a moment they both stood there locked in mental combat. Neither budging an inch. As if bound by destiny they came to an understanding without saying a single word.

Johanna offered the Safari ball to the Charcadet. And it was accepted.

For a moment Johanna’s face turned to worry as she saw the Tauros game go beyond the predetermined slow build-up settings. So much in fact that a kid came flying, landing outside the safety zone.

“Oh no no, you didn’t.” Johanna assured the young girl.

“Are you alright?” She glanced toward the possessed phone trying to determine exactly what kind of relationship the two shared.

With a new friendly bug safely stored away, Johanna would continue onward with her path. A bit of walking there, a short break, and then some more walking was all it took before she stood before another Pokemon.

The Elekid was sitting on the ground looking at the trailing stream of water, sulking for reasons unknown to Johanna.

For a moment she considered moving on. But decided to ask the Elekid what troubled it. The Pokemon was all too eager to explain the situation in its own way.

Johanna wasn’t quite sure she got it. But decided to offer the Elekid some treats which seemed to be enough. And when she tried to leave the now contend Elekid, she found herself being followed by it.

The never ending stream of work that the Carnival provided was, well a lot. But Johanna wasn’t going to back down. It had been a lot to set up, and of course it would be a lot to run. But it was worth it.

But she had other duties that needed tending too as well. While she was gone from the Ever Grande Gym it was currently being run by her second-in-command and protege, Sascha. While her skills in battling were impressive, her organizational skills less so.

And that's where we find Johanna in the midst of a phone call taking at an unfortunate time.

“Sascha, Sascha calm down.” Johanna mustered as much patience as her tired self possibly could. Painfully aware that she was currently amidst cheerful Carnival goers. “Yes, you just need to go into ServiceNow and then make a case for the broken item, and it’ll be sent to the right technician.” Johanna explained into the phone.

A moment went by as Johanna could hear typing from the other end of the call. Moments later she was given an unfortunate statement, which caused a sigh and pinching of the bridge on her nose. “What do you mean you’ve forgotten your password?” Her patience was being tried. “Okay, Sascha, listen. I can’t really help from where I am right now, but David should be at work right now, go find him I am sure he can help.”

Luckily Sascha agreed to this proposition and ended the phone call. Allowing Johanna a moment to sigh all of her frustrations into the air. As she did her eyes fell upon a Tug-o-War contest well under way. It seemed to be at a stalemate somewhat each participant red-faced from the exertion.

Busy, busy, busy.

Johanna had been buzzing around ever since the Carnival began. Luckily by now it was past the halfway point. So far everything has gone according to plan. Sure, there’d been a few issues, technical problems here and there especially during the moving around. But that was to be expected. And it seemingly hadn’t taken from the joyful experience everyone was having.

Still, there was plenty of work to do and to keep worker morale up, she made sure to be in the trenches with her workers. Perhaps she had been focusing too much on morale. Honestly she was exhausted.

Perhaps that was why Megan Whitmore had dragged her away from the work. It was time to have fun. But she couldn’t have fun on an empty stomach. So before any fun was had in the sun-bathed Dewford City Carnival, she bought some Carnival pop-corn to munch on while Megan decided what to do or try first.
